I saw the Tubes on the Love Bomb tour with Utopia. They were great, but maybe too clean. Both the Tubes and Utopia were in sharp suits with sharp haircuts, and minimalist stage setup. It was the eighties, and they were both post-hits, and both on the verge of breaking up because of falling record sales.

They both played great, but of course both band were known for their over-the-top stage shows in the seventies, and this show wasn't that.

That 38 Geary bus sucks. Between 10AM and 3PM it's loasded with geriatric and ambulatory challenged stopping at the hospitals around Geary and Masonic. Lots of wheel chair lifting. At night its sardined with financial district workers. Saturday and Sunday days lots of chinese people with chickens, cats and other livestock and groceries after shopping for their restaurants. MUNI drivers crank the heat during rain which turns the god damned bus into a sauna. At night 388 Geary is a homeless shelter and psychiatric ward.

Cal Zone!:

Enjoyed the show EFD! One of my favorite 415 releases was the Roky Erickson and The Aliens Evil One LP. I got my copy when it was released with Howie's promo pitch letter included. Such a brilliant record. Years ago I met Howie and mentioned to him how important that LP was to me. Unfortunately he didnt seem to remember it too well. ;)
