Playlist for Brian Turner - December 5, 2006

Tuesdays 3pm - 6pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Carla Bozulich's Evangelista  Live in the WFMU Studios   Engineered by Bil Bowen  Carla's been a veritable lynchpin in the Los Angeles music scene for years, creating a wildly diverse body of work performing in punk bands, meditative experimental ensembles as well as country outfits (covering Willie Nelson's "Red Headed Stranger" LP a few years back). She's currently on tour for "Evangelista", one hell of a sonic exorcism if there ever was one, full of devastating vocal performances aided by instrumentalists from Montreal's Constellation label scene. She'll be hitting Brian's show right off a huge European tour, and plays that night at Michelene's (1124 Broadway @ Koscuiszko) in Brooklyn and the following night (December 6th) at Joe's Pub in NYC. Carla's My Space page here.. The band today: Carla Bozulich: vocal, guitar, Tara Barnes: electric bass, sampler, Marika Hughes: cello, Mike Jorgensen: keyboard. Songs today: Evangelista 2 / Nels' Box / Pissing (cover of a Low song) / Steal Away / Baby, That's the Creeps / Evangelista 1/ Interview w/Brian. Thanks to Carla and the band, and Bill.    1:27:50 (Real)
