On my recent trip back to da Bay my cheap but functional car rental came with a cassette deck. That's a good thing as it provides perfect time to check out cassettes - and I have thousands of the suckers in Cali. So I loaded up on 90 minute mixes and random shit from hip hop all the way to the Carpenters - whose songs are perfect for adding another layer of sound to...basically they are like acapellas of Karen Carpenter's hauntingly beautiful voice...So I asked Scott if he was down to bring in guitar and amp. He said 'hell yeah' and even dug up a ton of other noise makers including effects for the guitar, plus a handmade string instrument whose parts included an old cigar box (WFMU DJ Maria gave it to him), an Indian harmonica that Nick da Bard (as well as vocalizing) pumped and played. And I added in some vocals, Islam prayer book toy laptop, plus bits off one CD copy and two vinyl copies of the Carpenters Greatest Hits plus two vinyl copies of Suicidal Tendencies album with "I Saw Your Mommy" - What was amazing was the sounds that Scott got out of his guitar...fuckin amazing. Scott WIlliams is one talented multi-instrumentalist!
