I have a large collection of Lucy Isabelle Marsh 78s. I would love to discuss these and play these on the air. I have suggested to the producers at Archeophone to produce a Marsh disc. They are currently asking for historians to write the notes.

Are the labels swapped over, or did you play the other side of Alberto Amadi's record in error?
This was "Questa e Quella"- (which is also from Verdi's Rigoletto). Even so, it's a nice recording. Thanks for another interesting program of 'Gramophone' records!

Mon. 5/28/07 12:20pm From: Dave Fischer

Hello from Hove, UK. Yes, it was indeed "Questa e Quella" also done by Caruso on Victor Red Seal. And, Galli-Curci (pronounced CurCHEE) is beyond wonderful. You can find her Red Seal recordings on CD too! Thanks Mac for a great show.

Thank you, Mac, for making this amazing show exist. A message to you anoraks, get a grip and just... enjoy!

I stand corrected. Indeed the labels are reversed. I play the records but sometimes don't listen hard enough! Running hither and thither takes much of my attention.

Hey Mac, the first title on this program is by Eddie Elkins' Orchestra not the Knickerbocker Quartet. It's a instrumental track!

Tickle Toes was both announced and playlisted as being by Ada Jones and Billy Murray. Murray had no part in this recording. Jones was backed by an unknown male quartet.

I hear Billy in there. Don't you?

Mr. Sheen was Al Sheen, uncle of Groucho Marx. Groucho mentioned him on a spoken-word album he did near the end of his life.
