Playlist for The Evan "Funk" Davies Show - August 14, 2007

Tuesdays 11pm - 2am on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Starting with the 70s -- it could be a classic (or obscure) punk rocker, a forgotten disco diva, a long-unheard hit record, or none of these. What happens next depends on what's in the WFMU new bin and whether I remember my records from home. Tune in and find out! You'll even hear a live band once in a while.

Nice. This fun company track is a bit of a ripoff of a couple of things, but it's sweet. That Ambrosia track was nice to hear, too.

You better fire someone over that bum CD-R.

From the Report-Times, Morgan County's Award Winning News Site in Martinsville, IN

Martinsville Lions Club welcomes District Governor, Evan Main

...An added special guest was master Evan Main. Evan is the son Jeff and Joy Main. Evan is an accomplished pianist and played both classical and jazz pieces. When asked by Charles Horrell how long he had been playing, Evan responded 3 years. Evan is now 10. Everyone marveled at the talent of someone so young. The Noon Lions hope to have Evan back as a guest in the future.

Great to here this. I worked at JAM productions editing radio ID's and cd's like this. JAM is what PAMS became in the 80's. Great studio in Pleasant Grove, outside Dallas. This jingle house defined Radio ID for the nation back in the day. I worked a Syndicated Radio Interview with KISS from that studio about 8 years ago. Tried to get into writing, but that was very weird. They are still making old-school vocal harmony spots to this day. Anyway, great to hear! Good Show..

That is a great story about Elvis, did they have pre-written death bios back then?

That must have been fun to work with a teletype machine. I know when Elvis died it was the late 70s, but you seem like you would have made a great radio apprentice in the 50s.

Bret (and listener Tom who called in about the jingles), you may also want to check out the episode of Aircheck I put together a couple of summers ago -- go to http://wfmu.org/playlists/AC and scroll down to the show from Aug 18 2005. It's an hour of jingles from PAMS, TM, and a few of the other production houses from the 60s and 70s.
