Dobet Gnahore is an extremely talented and charismatic young singer and dancer raised in an unusual interdisciplinary artists' colony in the Ivory Coast. After
moving to France she formed a band with her French husband / guitarist
Colin LaRoche de Feline. On their new cd Na Afriki (Cumbancha), the band updates a sort of musical pan-Africanism that's unique to French-African
artists.
Before forming the band Dobet and Colin used to perform as a
duo, and they play a few songs on this show in that intimate format.
Jacob Edgar of Cumbancha joined us to translate and add additional background.
Special thanks to Jennifer Daunt of Dauntless Promotions.
Dobet and band are currently on tour in the US. Tour dates
here.

There are so many things that make this station my all time favorite thing to listen to. I won't go into the long list but I got a nice warm frothy feeling when I tuned in and heard Balkan Beat Box. Thanks for all the info for the goings-on. Thanks for exposing me to Dobet Gnahore!
Many Thanks!
