In about 1985 Charlie Gillett played Are you glad to be in America to Ry Cooder. Who responded "That was unnecessarily funky" a la Rufus T.

Delius "Over the Hills" yes a nice orchestration of what we knew as a nursery rhyme but was probably a proper folk tune. It's good you're hipped to the English provincial romantics - we have dozens of them, all unknown to Americans.
