Playlist for The Evan "Funk" Davies Show - November 26, 2007

Tuesdays 11pm - 2am on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Starting with the 70s -- it could be a classic (or obscure) punk rocker, a forgotten disco diva, a long-unheard hit record, or none of these. What happens next depends on what's in the WFMU new bin and whether I remember my records from home. Tune in and find out! You'll even hear a live band once in a while.

Mon. 11/26/07 11:44pm From: efd

hi Pete, I'm not sure if we have that CD here but I will take a look when I have a few minutes to run out into the library.

Tue. 11/27/07 12:09am From: Liz B.

As soon as I heard the terrible news about Kevin Dubrow, I turned to the Lupica next to me and said, "Evan won't let us down tonight." We knew we could count on you!

Tue. 11/27/07 12:27am From: efd

heh... lucky for me The Lupica (is that what you call him around the office?) isn't still on Mondays at 8!

Tue. 11/27/07 12:29am From: dave

yes, this is really, REALLY good.

Tue. 11/27/07 12:30am From: dave

... the laureates thing, i mean. it sounds like bob mould singing for, ummm, for something poppy and really good.

Tue. 11/27/07 12:34am From: efd

yeah, that Laureates record kills! all the songs on there are good, I'll be playing it again for sure.

Tue. 11/27/07 12:43am From: stinky

#8!

Tue. 11/27/07 12:43am From: dave

go with #13. who DOESN'T want late-model donald fagan on their phone? or #8, which brings the porny bass.

Tue. 11/27/07 12:52am From: efd

two votes for #8 (or one and a half, at least) - i think that's the choice for now. #13 is a non-starter, sorry Dave. :)

Tue. 11/27/07 9:05am From: The Lupica

I am slightly shocked by the realization that I still remember all the Rudy Sarzo bass fills to "Metal Health" some 20+ years after last hearing it.

Tue. 11/27/07 2:16pm From: Jodi B.

Awww, shucks, thanks for the shout-out!!!

Wed. 11/28/07 9:50am From: John

i say leave your phone on vibrate.

Wed. 11/28/07 10:41am From: efd

the funny thing is, that's usually exactly what I do! especially when I'm in public. I think it's just the novelty of the new sounds/phone (and perhaps the fact that I was a little punchy!) that prompted me to try out those sounds.

Wed. 11/28/07 7:08pm From: Jimmy Pulse

The Digital Leather connection to Lost Sounds is by way of the Reatards. Ryan the drummer of Reatards is half of Digital Leather. He's also the singer/guitar of Tokyo Electron and was in The Wongs -hence the name Ryan Wong.
