hiya bethany,,whuts cookin?? great show so far, did you have a groooooooovy weekend?? i did,,i was groooooooooooooovin all weekend!!!!!!!=)=)=)

Sun. 2/17/08 9:43pm From: EH

This clarinet piece is amazing.

Sun. 2/17/08 9:45pm From: bethany

Not so much grooving from this girl over the weekend, but it was restful. To take your question about cooking (absurdly) literally: tonight I ate a fine frozen meal of Indian food produced by Amy's Organics - Mataar Paneer, chickpeas & rice. Later: peach yogurt.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:04pm From: Jon

I don't think it's that weird either, but sometimes it is. It's great either way, in my opinion.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:05pm From: Parq

In this case, the definition of "weird" is "not suitable for Planet Walmart". The back of my hand to those who complain about the lack of "pretty" music. I for one say this show is a source for some of the prettiest sounds this side of sunspots.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:10pm From: EH

Did you just threaten to slap Bethany's mom? That's kinda... off.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:21pm From: bethany

I don't think my mom shops at Wal-Mart so she's excluded from the rage of pretty music. But really, I'm the first to understand what she means and I talk no offense. I'm flattered and she (and anyone else) tune in at all! ;)

Sun. 2/17/08 10:30pm From: Parq

Oh, was the "pretty" comment from your mom? I sorry. I was in the kitchen, so I didn't catch the whole sentence. I thought you were quoting a random commenter. Your mom is excluded from my ire, natch.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:39pm From: bethany

No offense taken. Again - If someone tunes in long enough to say "that's weird, I think I'll go listen to some pretty music instead" then I'm satisfied with that!

Also: this song by The Moglass is pretty much as close as it would get to having a "theme song" for this show. One of my favorites, I think I play it every fiscal quarter.

Sun. 2/17/08 10:48pm From: Kyle

4 minute warning!!

Sun. 2/17/08 10:52pm From: bethany

I got disc 2 for Xmas!! Discbox!!! Lucky me. Wondered if you'd pop yo, Kyle!

Sun. 2/17/08 10:55pm From: Kyle

I, unfortunately have not gotten my hands on the discbox... I am slacking. But I am getting ready to save up for when they play here in August!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:00pm From: bethany

Haven't seen that tour schedule yet. When? Where?

Sun. 2/17/08 11:01pm From: rona

hi stephanie. almost good show. do you lissen to the beatles much?

Sun. 2/17/08 11:02pm From: slugluv1313

i agree with Parq!

some of THEE most prettiest music i have ever heard has been right here on Bethany's show!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:06pm From: Kyle

http://www.radiohead.com/tourdates/

They will probably play at MSG...date isn't certain yet. I need to get tickets when they go on sale, I cannot miss them

Sun. 2/17/08 11:07pm From: Aaron

Are there any plans to have singer/songwriter Becca Stevens on your show? Her myspace page says that she will be on the show tonight, but this doesn't seem likely, given that it is 11:06 already.

Your show is consistently quite good, BTW....

Sun. 2/17/08 11:08pm From: ranjit

hey slug, me too. And some of the ugliest too!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:10pm From: bethany

The talented Ms. Stevens and band will be on the program March 16, a date closer to her debut CD release at Barbes on March 19. Mark your calendars!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:35pm From: slugluv1313

oh, goshers, i think that it is ALL beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:37pm From: bethany

I'm a bit skeptical of these pan-flute sounding bits...tell you the truth.

Sun. 2/17/08 11:44pm From: Pete

Just for the record, "Weird" was intended as a high compliment. Weird=wonderful.

Sun. 2/17/08 11:47pm From: Ike

Hooray for weird!

Sun. 2/17/08 11:51pm From: FJ Torres

Excellent music, both weird and pretty.
Each show brings revelations.
Thanks.

Sun. 2/17/08 11:53pm From: bethany

Oh - Pete! I think that more than anything we were all in need of a long tangential semiotic thread. I think we all understand the concepts of weird and pretty in the larger sense...I've never known message boards like this to convey context. (tiny hommage to McLuhan...)

Sun. 2/17/08 11:59pm From: Willy Voet

What's your last talk-over music?

Mon. 2/18/08 2:58am From: bethany

The last talk-over piece is by Mark Mothersbaugh from the The Royal Tenenbaums score. It's called "Lindbergh Palace Hotel Suite" I believe.

Mon. 2/18/08 4:49am From: ike

Sun. 2/24/08 10:58am From: Here

The title is appropriate and the music certainly accomplishes the goal. Wonderful.
