  11:18pm
john:

Get Down! Brilliant! Gosh, I miss the '70s. Nobody does songs about dogs any more, or at least ones that make the top 10.
  11:18pm
Joe:

Gilbert O'Sullivan... that, Mr. Funkdavies, is a tenuous link, at best.
  11:20pm
efd:

cone on, he's Irish!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_O'Sullivan
  11:22pm
efd:

**that should be come on, not cone on.

now ,A-Bones or House of Pain-- *that's* tenuous!
  11:24pm
Joe:

DJ Lethal is LITHUANIAN?!
  11:26pm
that 70 chick:

evan,,,,ROCK ON!!!!! play more 70s
  11:30pm
john:

If you play Shannon, you get my whole 51st anniversary pledge next year. DEFINITELY nobody does songs about Carl Wilson's dog drowning any more.
  11:32pm
John McCabe:

please mention that green clovers or other stupid pieces of paper pined to your shirt does not count you must wear a green article of clothing
  11:41pm
Laurie:

Oof. This Neil Young song is not so good. I think that can be said about nearly every Neil Young song, but this one in particular is bad.

It's giving me the lulz.
  11:42pm
efd:

damn, Laurie, you're on to me!
  11:46pm
Laurie:

It's okay, Evan. This James White song is my jam.
  11:46pm
John McCabe:

ok that Neil Young song sounded like he was "phoning it in" but Neil is the king of rock n' roll from 2000-2002 that all I would play
  11:47pm
mary jane:

Yes! Contort Yourself still sounds great!!
  11:47pm
Laurie:

Wait, isn't this James Chance?? Am I confused?
  11:50pm
mary jane:

Yep but he changed his name to suit his purposes. Including using James White.
And of course the band The Contortions.
  11:52pm
Joe:

Nope, Texas
  11:54pm
Laurie:

I am almost positive that "Contort Yourself" was released under James Chance & the Contortions.
  11:55pm
Tim Serpas:

"What Made..." is from Austin, TX
  11:57pm
Randy in NC:

efd, you are correct. The original version of Contort... was James Chance and the Contortions. This version was certainly smoother. My memory tells me that the Blacks became the Raybeats.
  11:59pm
Laurie:

I'm relatively young. I should just get points for knowing of James Chance.
  12:05am
Laurie:

Oh, also, the linguist in me wants to inform you that it's pronounced DED-uh-lus.
  12:07am
efd:

thanks for the info, Joe & TIm!

Laurie, I wholeheartedly agree regarding knowing who James Chance is in the first place. I also thought it was DED-uhlus, but I've heard a couple of others say DAYdulus so I wonder if the artist has a "special" pronunciation.

Randy, is that the case? I can't recall... I thought of them as contemporaries, but I think there was some overlap between members now that you mention it.
  12:18am
a chick:

efd-i sent you mail.
  12:27am
Randy in NC:

efd, it could be that the Blacks were the Raybeats when they played w/o James White/Chance. I know I saw them both around the same time period.
  12:31am
efd:

Randy, looks like you are indeed on the right track - see
http://www.raybeats.net/?page_id=3

(And Laurie, that page has some helpful James Chance/White/Black info as well.)
  12:46am
Joe:

This is the bounce I didn't even know I was craving. Thank you.
  12:48am
Randy in NC:

May 16 through June 7
Sounds exhausting. But fun!
  12:53am
Randy in NC:

All 21 shows are 350 Pounds.
  12:55am
efd:

damn, that's a lot of pounds!
Joe, glad you dug that Junc Ops.
  1:01am
mary jane:

One day will you play The Bush Tetras "Too Many Creeps" . The uber cool Pat Place was in the Contortions and the Bush Tetras.
  1:03am
mary jane:

That is, Pat Place IS in The Bush Tetras.
  1:07am
Laurie:

Thanks for playing Junc Ops, by the way. Miami's music scene is lackluster for the most part.

It's been mostly downhill since L'Trimm split up.
  1:08am
Joe:

Hopefully he won't bail like Masta Ace did! He lots alot of points with me for that... my man Noah is too cool for that shit...
  1:18am
mary jane:

Had not heard of Liliput...and since I like the BTetras...I wondered who Liliput is/was...looked it up...you are way cool, efd. Thank you for taking a request to a very fine place!
  1:35am
efd:

Mary Jane, it's my pleasure to have introduced you to Kleenex / Liliput. I highly recommend that 2CD set if you want to hear more.
  7:17pm
Joe B:

I am officially going on record as saying Jellyroll Man is a GREAT song/performance!
  11:27am
efd:

this from the DJ whose name comes up more than any other when doing a playlist search for "Neil Young!" :-)
  1:13pm
Baron Samedi:
