Live performance with Nick Schillace and Eric Carbonara

A douple-dip of fingerstyle guitarists played live on this program. Philly-based multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer Eric Carbonara thouroughly embraces all the bounties the wooden guitar offers. Eric's playing widely ranges from acoustic comtemplations of Andalusian Roma-Flamenco to the aggressively noisy. Carbonara is a regular improviser with Evil Eye Sound System & plays with Philly psych-rockers, Soft People. Also performing on the show was Nick Schillace, who is a disciple of the American primitive style of fretwork. Saved by his guitar at the last moment from becoming merely a journalist, Detroit-based Schillace instead became a musicologist who channels the spirit of John Fahey in his own works. Nick just released his second disc, "Landscape and People," on Burleytime Records, and plays with post-rock outfit In Door Park.

Steve Hackett another GREAT ! which most don't even consider"" I liked a comment which PeterGabriel himself said once which is he always loves Steve's Guitar playing cos he wasn't so much into Notes and "Flash" he was into "Atmospheres" ...
  3:16pm
Wes:

Dude.....rock....on....(this is like a mix between Top Gun, Pink Floyd, and some dream-filled starship yet to be harnessed by any earthly considerations) (whether that's good or not, I dunno..)
  3:20pm
Irene:

I love listening to Steve Hackett every so often. Thank Listener Lenny for asking me to play it.
  3:20pm

  5:16pm
Buck:

Beautiful Set Guys!!!!
  5:20pm
Droll:

Thanks for the rant on bad sound quality. I gave up XM because is sounds worse than my old cassettes (and XM has no soul, or worse, a bad soul -- merge with Sirius? Puhhleeeze).
How about a 256kbs WFMU stream? Eric's live stuff is beautiful and is not being paid justice.
  5:33pm
Ike:

I agree that XM's sound quality is awful. Sounds like a 12k AAC+ stream or worse. Droll, a 256k stream would cost WFMU a lot of money. Maybe it could be restricted to pledgers?? I don't know. I'm so glad I live in FM range! To me, FM sounds better than any MP3 stream. Anyway, today's first set was mind-blowing, Irene!
  5:45pm
Droll:

Hi Ike -- Yeah, I know it'd cost FMU 2x to let me listen to dead air and scratchy records at 256kbs, but as long as there's no BitTorrent for audio streams, out here in Seattle we're stuck with the MP3 stream.
I'd gladly rebroadcast FMU with my excess bandwidth... is that possible?
  5:57pm
Ike:

Droll, the only solution for you is to move to Newark! I have a room available for rent in my apt.! Do you like cats? Ha ha....
  6:00pm
bluebeetle:

droll you could capture the stream as an mp3 and use winamp/shoutcast/sam3 to rebroadcast about anything. oh and provo utah is digging wfmu.org alot
  6:22pm
Irene:

Thanks a lot guys! We try to make things sound as good as possible without bankrupting ourselves. Radio rules!
  9:25pm
Lenny:

..yes Steve Hackett! He's beyond his time and the time of this limited world....the music echos layers of feelings-past and present emotionals./Lenny
  9:27pm
Lenny:

..check out Tony Banks and espsecially Mike Rutherford's "Small Creep Day"/Lenny
