Third comment! Woo hoo!

Tue. 4/15/08 12:14pm From: pat

Jeeze! Totally forgot about this Lyres tune. Excellent choice.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:15pm From: Cecile

I love the Lyres. So much.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:16pm From: Miss V

Stop playing good music I need to pee!

Tue. 4/15/08 12:19pm From: pat

Lyres were amazing there for a while. They were in their own class in the "garage" world.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:20pm From: Rubble

You can listen to it all over again this afternoon on the archive Miss P! I mean Miss V!! :) But I know- that's not quite the same as listening in real time. It does come in handy though!

Tue. 4/15/08 12:22pm From: Bad Ronald

Hi Joe - what other bonus tracks are on the Jesus of Cool reissue. Does it have all of Bowi?

Tue. 4/15/08 12:25pm From: Joe B

Jesus of cool re-ish - presents the original british LP followed by Shjake that rat, i love my label, they called it rock, born a woman, endless sleep, halfway to paradise, rollers show, cruel to be kind (early version), heart of the city (studio version), I don't want the night to end

Tue. 4/15/08 12:27pm From: Bad Ronald

Way cool thanks - I love "I Love My
Label" - Excellent show as always. - BR

Tue. 4/15/08 12:30pm From: rob

I saw Screaming Trees at MIT in Cambridge, MA on the Even If tour. Such a great show. Lots of long hair and wahwah guitar solos.
Oh to be young and in college.....

Tue. 4/15/08 12:35pm From: ?

Can't Make it On Time... another potential Mary Weiss tune.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:40pm From: Bad Ronald

That solo album is bittersweet...

Tue. 4/15/08 12:42pm From: Bad Ronald

I handed Joey one of our singles at a show once. It's probably still behind the urinal at the Continental...

Tue. 4/15/08 12:49pm From: Parq

Ah, the R&RHS concert sequence - some of the best live footage, of any band, ever committed to the screen.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:50pm From: Bad Ronald

I think they re-recorded the tracks though...

Tue. 4/15/08 12:52pm From: miss v

I (heart ) the ramones

Tue. 4/15/08 12:56pm From: Parq

Bad Ron, look at it this way. That whole movie is about the triumph of giddy fantasy over a boring reality. Somewhat tricked-out concert footage fits right into that. Remember, the visuals included the middle-aged music teacher dancing with abandon in his 50s jazz hipster garb.

Tue. 4/15/08 12:57pm From: Bad Ronald

And a hugh stoned Rat!

Tue. 4/15/08 12:57pm From: Pat

Joey's buried in Lyndhurst.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:01pm From: Parq

Ron, excactly. Joe, this Holmes track sounds like what BR5-49 would sound like if they played garage instead of country - sort of "Little Ramona's Gone Hillbilly Nuts" in reverse.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:01pm From: ?

Yep, Bergen County!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:08pm From: Bad Ronald

Joe you did it again, I totally love this ENO tune!!!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:08pm From: Jim

This is the coolest Eno song I *never* heard

Tue. 4/15/08 1:13pm From: Rubble

Allen Oldies Band Rules! A-L-L-E-N! Who knew ENO and AOB could exist side by side so happily!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:23pm From: Rubble

Didn't Loggins do Holiday Road too, the Vacation movie tune?
Or am I talkin outta you know where.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:27pm From: Joe B

Lindsey Buckingham did that one.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:28pm From: Cecile

Don't look at me. I have a terrible track record on this particular comment section.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:30pm From: Bad Ronald

Not so Cecile, you're the one who clued me in on 4/1.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:31pm From: Carmichael

Hey, I actually liked the Pat Todd song, how bout that?!? They sound like the Spanic Boys, one of my twangy faves.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:33pm From: Cecile

Oh, that's right. But I was wrong on Ron Wood, and confused about Madonna.

BTW, that Stooges performance of Burning up was great!
And i love that Ig still sounds like he's from Meeeeechigan. Unlike Ms. Ciccone.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:37pm From: Bad Ronald

Cecile - Don't be so hard on yourself.

Yes Iggy's a bit more down to earth than Madonna.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:39pm From: Carmichael

And you are correct-a-mundo with the Loggins reference (and the Buckingham compser reference, too) from NatLamp's Vacation. I also see a version by Dirt Bike Annie. Intriguing name, but I ain't never hoid of 'em ...

Tue. 4/15/08 1:40pm From: Carmichael

Iggy still sounds like he's from the bad side of Ann Arbor!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:41pm From: SmokinJ

Christ I'm blasted..

Tue. 4/15/08 1:43pm From: Cecile

That would be Ypsilanti!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:44pm From: Carmichael

Touche. Out here in Californ-eye-ay, I can't tell the difference. But I read books about stuff.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:46pm From: Bad Ronald

I didn't even know Ypsilanti exists...

Tue. 4/15/08 1:48pm From: Joe B

Ypsilanti - home of The Hentchmen!

Tue. 4/15/08 1:50pm From: Bad Ronald

Speaking of IGGY here's a cool short with Tom Waits:

Coffe and Cigarettes.

Tue. 4/15/08 1:57pm From: Jim

What is that playing in the background during the breaks?

Tue. 4/15/08 1:58pm From: Bad Ronald

Strata Bowling Theme Song

Tue. 4/15/08 1:59pm From: Cecile

I knew you'd know that, Joe!!!!

Tue. 4/15/08 2:01pm From: Rubble

Ooooh yeah! Thanks Joe.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:08pm From: Ken

I used to work in Ypsilanti..

Tue. 4/15/08 2:10pm From: Cecile

I lived in Ann Arbor and was there a fair amount. There and Pittsfield Towship...

Tue. 4/15/08 2:13pm From: Cecile

My husband is a proud EMU graduate.
Well, maybe proud is overstating it.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:17pm From: Carmichael

YES! KINKS!! YES!!!

Tue. 4/15/08 2:18pm From: Ezra

Dave Davies - greatest unsung guitarist/songwriter?

Tue. 4/15/08 2:23pm From: Carmichael

This can't be *really* live, can it? People can't scream non-stop like that for a whole friggin' medley, can they? I bet the audience was *augmented* ....

Tue. 4/15/08 2:23pm From: Cecile

What carm said.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:24pm From: Cecile

About the kinks. I completely believe they screamed the whole time.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:25pm From: Bad Ronald

Did you ever hear a Beatles concert?

Tue. 4/15/08 2:30pm From: Carmichael

Ya, ya, wiseacre, I'm 50. I still say there's more to that audience than reality.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:33pm From: Carmichael

Thomas Erlewine's review on the AllMusic site seems to agree with alla yous guys about the crowd noise. In fact, that's about the only subject of the whole review!

Tue. 4/15/08 2:33pm From: Bad Ronald

Maybe so, I'm gonna spin the record when I get home and scrutinize...

Tue. 4/15/08 2:34pm From: Joe B

Don't know about the audience but Well-respected Man and Sunny Afternoon from the same album sound suspiciously like the studio tracks.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:35pm From: Bad Ronald

Nice research Carmichael - thanks - BR

Tue. 4/15/08 2:42pm From: ?

Carmichael, are you a cop? have you ever met Wayne Newton?

Tue. 4/15/08 2:47pm From: Carmichael

Nope. Yep. Once at the Casa de Shenandoah.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:47pm From: Bad Ronald

Thanks Joe... now you've opened up a whole new can-o-worms...

Tue. 4/15/08 2:51pm From: ?

Hmm. So you're not THAT Carmichael. I thought your screen name was a character's name, the character was a cop! Forget I asked! :)

Tue. 4/15/08 2:53pm From: ?

In fact maybe sometime we can get Joe to play the song 'Carmichael' for ya.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:54pm From: Joe B

No time for the song Carmichael today, sorry! It's a long one and the show is almost over.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:54pm From: Carmichael

Being in California and, ahem, *of age*, that remark was a bit peculiar. Thanks for providing the context. It's lunchtime on the coast. See you fine folks tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel.

Tue. 4/15/08 2:55pm From: Carmichael

There's a song? It's probably written about Hoagy anyway ...

Tue. 4/15/08 3:02pm From: ?

I know Joe, maybe sometime in the future! Good show!

Wed. 4/16/08 8:12am From: Robbie

Joe, I actually prefer the original "Cruel To Be Kind" from 1976 - I think it was the B-side of "Little Hitler" on Radar Records in the UK. It sounds like a Beatles song. Maybe you can play that one next week? Thanks again.

Thu. 4/17/08 6:05am From: Andy

thanks for playing The Ace.......Fantastic stuff !
