Fri. 5/2/08 6:26am From: HotRod

Tired? Didn't you know sleep is the cousin of death?

Fri. 5/2/08 6:28am From: Ryan

Dead must be a very relaxed state of being then. But to be fair, I didn't sleep well.

Fri. 5/2/08 6:40am From: catpatz

i love sleep. and girls singing. and this show. not so sleepy today though, excited for a weekend of sailing and old nintendo games.

Fri. 5/2/08 6:44am From: Ryan

The best old Nintendo game is "Clash at Demonhead". Just so yall know.

Fri. 5/2/08 6:47am From: catpatz

Hey HotRod! Just tuning in, nice selection as ever. Isn't that tune (Hater) featured in Jace/Rupture's shotgun wedding mix? It sure sounds familiar but I don't have that CD around to check...

Fri. 5/2/08 7:31am From: listener jeremy

catpatz - sailing & NES, huh??? that's awesome. good weather expected?

Fri. 5/2/08 7:31am From: cph too

Fri. 5/2/08 7:51am From: listener jeremy

favorite portishead album? i think my favorite is the first one. they're all so unique though, and this third one is amazing on its own.

Fri. 5/2/08 8:00am From: fred

I'm indeed fred, and from france as well. I ALWAYS tune in (from work) but I guess I rarely comment. Don't worry, I may be silent but I'm listening... I see Marion is around today, good excuse to say I'm that "fred from france"...

Fri. 5/2/08 8:09am From: Luciano

Genova, Italy, tuning in as well ... and right in time for the great Selda Bagcan! Thanks, HotRod, my working afternoon starts quite better!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:11am From: marionfrenchie

ahah! yeah! I tuned in again, after a long time away from WFMU... gonna have a bunch of archives to listen to;)
Love this Female singers selection HotRod, Lovely to listen to classics and less classics sung by great artists. Can't wait 'till the playlist reaches Celia Cruz. It's been my car music for a little while now, I just love her !

Fri. 5/2/08 8:12am From: catpatz

hey jeremy---hoping for good sailing weather on the danish fjords---forecast looks pretty good. some sun, some wind, some clouds, maybe some rain. . .

Fri. 5/2/08 8:17am From: HotRod

Welcome Luciano!!! So nice to have Italy tuning in. :)

How great is that Selda track? I can't get it out of my head!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:19am From: marionfrenchie

Fri. 5/2/08 8:23am From: listener jeremy

Fri. 5/2/08 8:25am From: cph too

respectfully disagree

Fri. 5/2/08 8:31am From: r0

Czech Republic here. Having day off of the work, enjoying the show with my 1 year 5 months old son. He's waving to you all

Fri. 5/2/08 8:33am From: cph too

waving back!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:34am From: Luciano

Got 2 or 3 Selda CDs from the 70s back catalogue, most of the songs are really impressive... maybe Gesi Baglarinda is my top favourite!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:34am From: fishmonkeystew

Your tunes are the perfect soundtrack to this rainy Connecticut morning. Thanks!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:40am From: Parq

Gee, such an international crowd. I'm almost embarrassed to say I'm from New York. Hey HR, joining you for the last half hour. I was asleep. Yeah, I know . . .

Fri. 5/2/08 8:46am From: Kieran

Hi everyone, from Luton in the UK. Great song this one.

Fri. 5/2/08 8:49am From: matt in Indy

Thanks for the Selda's last name, Luciano. I was not having any luck identifying that one. Now which album is "S/T"? or better yet . . . if I were to buy one album . . . which one should I get?

Thanks for another great set HR!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:52am From: ~L

Hi!
Great show, as always, HotRod!

Fri. 5/2/08 8:54am From: matt in Indy

oh "S/T" = "self titled".
Doh.
Still seems like there are more than one with "Selda" as the title.

Fri. 5/2/08 8:55am From: listener jeremy

cool!!

Fri. 5/2/08 9:02am From: HotRod

Thanks everyone! Hope you all tune in next week!

RECOMMENDED FILM OF THE WEEK: WING CHUN (STARRING MICHELLE YEOH)

Fri. 5/2/08 9:08am From: Luciano

hi matt, Turkish 70s lp discographies are confusing... often singles collections are named as artists S/T; got two Selda CDs, the easier to get is a S/T 1976 (possibly the 1st) with bonus tracks from FindersKeepers records; the 2nd, sometimes listed as Vurulduk Ey Halkim Unutma Bizi, is a hard to get World Psychedelia issue from S Korea; in Turkish market, only overlapping collections and some recent works available - hope this helps!

Fri. 5/2/08 5:43pm From: swnbch

perfect soundtrack for the beach on this sunny NC day.
