Listener comments!

  9:01am Listener Dave:

Mornin' Ken and fellow followers of the Culture Of Commentary.
  9:06am dlroth:

hello SweKen!

ooooooh man this French New Wave is awesome - I'm gonna go watch Le Ballon Rouge!
  9:06am Swami:

Oh Kenneth. Thanks for starting my morning of with such eurotrashy flava. For the love of crack, keep it up.
  9:07am swami:

Scratch the "of". More espresso, thanks.
  9:08am cribley:

that first pic is great. does she know something we dont?
  9:08am Ken:

Hello all. Boy was Nachum pissed off at me this AM!
  9:09am JJZ:

The clickiness of that picture is broken.
  9:09am Hillary Clinton:

I will be making no decisions tonight.
  9:10am Ghengis Jung:

Why was Nachum angry?
  9:10am Listener Dave:

How pissed off was he?

I love Match Game.
  9:10am Negator:

Ken, you should see me in hot pants relating to your vibe this morning. That'd piss you off, too. I what you call a fat "hairy bear".
  9:12am Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Bryant did a great job on the Obama & Hillary pic, don't you think?
  9:12am cribley:

Nachum is just bitter. Soon he'll turn to guns for comfort.
  9:12am Bad Ronald:

better to be pissed off than pissed on unless well um...
  9:13am Laurie:

Ha, I have a friend called DJ Hottpants. He doesn't wax his legs, no sir.

http://www.djhottpants.com/
  9:15am Doug:

I'm digging this lost Killing Joke outtake.
  9:16am slipsknot:

priceless ken priceless
  9:23am andrew:

does it offend you, yeah? is pretty much the worst band name ever
  9:25am ?:

you have sweden
  9:25am Parq:

Um, which train whistle are you referring to, particularly?
  9:25am Bad Ronald:

Hi Ken - The URL to the big hillary accordion is broken it should be:

http://blogfiles.wfmu.org/KF/2008/06/0604/Bryant_Frazer_-_accordion_big.jpg
  9:27am Negator:

Dont Knock'em 'till you you try 'em!
  9:29am Laurie:

Loving this Noonday Underground cut.
  9:31am Laurie:

KEN!!! You're playing tunes... with MELODIES.
  9:32am Ken:

I know Laurie - I can't get over melodies since Andy Breckman turned me on to them. I can't believe I had never heard of them before. Thanks Bad Ronald, fixed the bad link.
  9:33am Listener Dave from NH:

Hey shorty, it's your birthday.
Gonna play the accordion like it's your birthday.
  9:37am Bad Ronald:

NP Ken - I dig your show, thanks!
  9:37am Laurie:

Hey, you spelled "birfday" wrong.
  9:38am jamesie:

you probably see/heard this Hillary clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgtkz0VX4bo
  9:38am Laurie:

Ha, I just got the Andy Votel "Music to Make Girls Cry" CD. It's a monster!
  9:45am cribley:

So I was searching for accordion electronica and found:

http://www.myspace.com/gosegose

It's more like accordion house music, but still amusing.
The second to last track 'Eutsi' sounds like it features a bizzaro Neil Diamond.
  9:47am jtm:

Im seeing lots of accordians but Im not hearing any.
  9:49am Bad Ronald:

Will we see any more Melon Boys today?
  9:51am Vivian:

Is that Mink Stole telling me she will not shut her mouth anymore about Hillary?
  9:51am PD:

Slipknot needs some water sprayed on her.
  9:53am Doug:

I'm hoping Ken got my listening station photo last week.
  9:54am C:

She was a second class citizen before, now she's nothing?? What is she talking about? She's on FMU. She made it!
  9:54am Wes:

Slipknot probably needs a shower and a shave
  9:55am Negator:

Are Madonna and Hillary the same person. Is she like Batman or somethin'?
  9:57am Sss:

Sounds like a bad salad. You know there's better.
  10:00am Negator:

Play the Hagan! Play the Hagan!
  10:01am Vivian:

Notice that Hillary and Madonna are never in the same room together at the same time?
  10:01am Negator:

Ich Weiss Es Wird Einmal Ein Wunder Geschehn Nina Hagan covered this I love it!
  10:03am Laurie:

Is this that Kraut rock I've been hearing about?
  10:04am Bad Ronald:

Slipknot needs a spanking an exorcism and then another spanking.
  10:05am Ken:

Most definitely NOT Krautrock! It was Schlager, if anything. I defer to our Teutonic friends to help me ID it precisely.
  10:06am Parq:

Ken, you're really giving the last remaining shreds of my high school German a work-out today.
  10:11am Laurie:

A black male speech?
  10:12am Raj:

HAVE YOU SEEN HER, G*DDAMMIT!!!!
  10:13am jonathan:

ah! you're nice and insane this morn. and rightly so.
thank you.
  10:13am Laurie fan:

Ha!!
  10:13am ted:

It just amazes me that some Clinton supporters say they are not going to vote for the pro-choice candidate.
  10:13am PD:

Oh please, someone put Hillary's face on Slipknot....
  10:14am ted:

Just doesn't sound rational.
  10:15am Raj:

Hillary and Melonboy has done wrong in raising young Slipknot...
  10:17am Laurie:

Is this that gangsta rap I've been hearing about?
  10:18am Bad Ronald:

Maggots!!!!
  10:20am ?:

Clintons = MscBeth
  10:20am Laurie:

I approve this J. Lo cover!
  10:20am Bad Ronald:

"I love that mountain with those four big heads
I love Velveeta slapped on Wonder Bread
I love a commie... if'n he's good and dead, yup
I love America" - AC
  10:21am ted:

MacBeth
  10:24am Laurie:

This is my favorite song about the Diet of Worms.
  10:27am PD:

I want to hear Andy sing Spiders and Snakes.
  10:27am GUMBY:

A Jim Stafford airing, Wha-hoo!!!
  10:31am jonathan:

disco kiss. do you remember what you felt like when this first came out? CHEATED! maybe it was just me.
  10:32am Raj:

Better than Feist covering BeeGees!
  10:33am billyjam:

Morning Ken, great images on Playlist today. Wot up Bad Ronald. Thanks for always rushing to WFMU's rescue with tech tips on image placement on playlists.
  10:33am Listener Eric:

Hurrah for the release of the Steinski retrospective! This has been bringing me much joy! Anyone know about the legal state of the samples? I assume they didn't all get cleared -- is the label girding for a fair-use battle against the forces of evil?
  10:35am alan:

great selection of tracks, Ken, but they seem to be picking up some inerference over the Atlantic - lots of grunts and stuff. Is there anything we can do about it?
  10:35am Laurie:

Who's the harridan whining about our next president, Obama?
  10:35am dei xhrist:

signing in late. sorry, getting my morning kicks watching Venture Brothers.
  10:36am Bad Ronald:

Hey billyjam no prob - my pleasure I love you guys, can't wait for your show this Fri...
  10:38am ted:

That women needs to give a sermon at the Trinity United Church of Christ
  10:38am BillyJam:

Alan: re Steinski samples' legality: I recently interviewed him about this new collection and asked him this very quesiton and this was his response: " Well, the legality of most of the pieces has always been problematic, obviously. Illegal art is generously taking a chance at reissuing them in such a luxurious package. It means that for a limited time this material will be somewhat available."
  10:39am Laurie:

ha ha, DO IT LIVE!!
  10:39am Harriet Christian:

Sorry about that meltdown. I'm back in the city now, streaming WFMU ... not really gonna vote Mccain - that was just a psych ya out. Lemme know if any of the gang wants to meet up for some long island ice teas!
  10:42am Harriet Christian:

Guys. c'mon, it's me! What did I do???????
  10:42am Raj:

DINER... One of my favorites.

'd rather delude myself into this Baltimore SOM, Mr. Wire!
  10:44am Bad Ronald:

Angry Baby is priceless!!!
  10:45am Listener Eric:

Thanks BillyJam! Dig your show muchos also...
  10:46am bill o:

http://www.bustedtees.com/welldoitlive
  10:47am Negator:

My name is Harriet Christian and when I smoke a cigarette I have to ligt two; one for myself and one for the 'wizard sleeve'!
  10:49am Bad Ronald:

Hah, the "Wizard Sleeve"!
  10:50am Richard:

Hi Ken did you make it to Wire on Friday? What did you think. Not enough old material for a conservative like me, but still great energy!
  10:54am Ken:

No, alas, I didn't make it to Wire. I headed back to the woods and saw my first bear of the summer. How was Wire? Anybody else go? Billy?
  10:59am dei x:

oh that's right, Ken is outside now. Wire must have been playing indoors. Now did anyone point out that if you're outside, you can build an inside, but the reverse is not possible? And who's gonna stop you?
  11:00am J.McMahon:

can someone please tell me who the hell is saying 'groovy very groovy, groovy scene' every week its driving me all batty, is it Bill Murray?
  11:01am Harriet C:

I've had enough of this goddamn shit! I live on the Upper East where I've been a 2nd class citizen my whole life! FMU was always different .. until now! I'm done - you hear???? No more mousy pledges! No more manning your damn phones for Yo Lo Tangy - done, you hear??? I am through with you!!!!!
  11:01am richard:

well there plenty of FMU T shirts to be seen at the Wire gig, Margaret Fiedler was on guitar and seemed to be having some tech issues, but when they all opened up they blew away the imitators!
  11:04am jonathan:

wire. so fucking great. just please don't use a bass with no headstock. was he sporting that?
  11:04am Ken:

I also need to know who is doing all the groovies! I found an MP3 in the MP3 pit here, wiped off the sludge but the incsription is unr3aadable.
  11:06am ?:

Groovies... It is possibly the character Herbie in the film I Love You, Alice B. Toklas! (1968).
Played by David Arkin.
  11:07am JMcMahon Esq.:

you dont know, Ken doesn't know? Ken doesn't know but continues to play it. Thats cheap, thats a punk move. No more grooviness until someone names that voice.
  11:07am cribley:

  11:13am Bad Ronald:

Sgt. Stedenko?
  11:14am anne:

morning everyone, morning Ken, awesome that you saw a bear. where was that?
  11:14am GUMBY:

Is that Groovy from the movie "Joe"? where Peter Boyle accidentally kills the other guys hippie daughter?
  11:16am Listener Dave:

OK, where's the "naked pics of your ex" note from?
  11:16am Swami:

Uncle Hulka?
  11:17am PLMGNY:

thanks for the warm leatherettes, the day is tolerable now.
  11:20am Miqel:

i'll bet the note is from FOUND Magazine, a cool collection of funny or strange notes found by people and submitted http://www.foundmagazine.com/
  11:21am Bad Ronald:

Ahhh MelonBoy at last!!! - TX
  11:23am Cecile:

Ken, could you post a cute picture of a Scottie Dog? I'm in a grouchy mood that only one of those bearded old man dogs can cure.
  11:23am BillyJam:

re WIRE - yeah myself and several others from FMU were at the free outdoor show at South St. Seaport (Fabio, Brian Turner, Liz B also present) - and I thought it was great getting to hear them cover a wide range of material including some of the classics from 30 years ago. A part of the River to River Festival, which also includes the upcoming WFMU -sponsored Sonic Youth (see details on this site as you need to arrange tix before even tho free) it is one of ther reasons why NYC is a great place to be in the summer - non-stop free shit. Also part of same fest last weekend was Bang On A Can - which I checked out too...pretty good but a bit too sedate/sit-down/refined for my liking - but still good.
  11:24am anne:

and such fine penmanship for an (understandably) angry note. such control over emotion...
  11:24am Swami:

Awesome
  11:28am Ghengis Jung:

I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!
  11:28am xangoir:

My guess is the "very very very groovy scene" is from "I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!". I just saw this film a couple weeks ago.
  11:28am dlroth:

killyjams - leave babylon

MORE NETWORK PLEASE!
  11:29am Raj:

Feel like backtracking my copy of "The Trip" (Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern...) I don't know, that's my guess....
  11:30am Cecile:

MORE SCOTTIE DOGS!

billyjam I think it's 4:20 in Indonesia now. ;D
  11:30am bwalker:

I pretended to be a hill fan and I begged her to 'take over the Senate'

We need you I shouted - The idea of her sticking around as VP kills me
  11:30am barry:

NO way I could ever vote for Obama...
  11:30am cribley:

I put I Love You, Alice B. Toklas at the top of my Netflix queue. I'll let you know.
  11:31am xangoir:

The Trip and maybe Midnight Cowboy... I know I've heard it recently...
  11:31am Wes:

Not really sure there is any way I could ever vote again. I think I'll just go to the polls to observe people and hand out stuff. Anyone need a Bones vs Bones 2004 T shirt?
  11:31am jonathan:

watch alice b. and the magic christian back to back.
then get a hot doggie.
  11:32am Ghengis Jung:

  11:32am Dictater:

  11:34am Bad Ronald:

I love the poll scene in Magic Christian!
  11:34am HotRod:

Aww, I'm blushing. Teehee.
  11:35am abresnick:

Ken-- I followed your ordures and went to Hill Clint's site to tell her to bugger off home, and found that even sending a message means one lists oneself as a supporter. Typical Clinton cynicism. So I say don't go to the site unless you want to be one of the ostensible 18 million....
  11:36am dlroth:

killyjams and sweken should do a power hour!
  11:36am Parq:

Photo of HP in her mask to accompany the accu-PL slot for this number?

Nice work HotRod!
  11:37am Megan:
