Listener comments!

  9:02am
Hatch:

Disco breakfast.
  9:08am
Monster:

Mornin Hatchy
  9:20am
jonathan:

lil wayne is a maniac.
  9:21am
Bad Ronald:

Mornin!
  9:23am
lil wayne:

That was no dream, pal.
  9:41am
north guinea hills:

man, 25 cents for chewable morphine!!!, man, those were the days!
  9:44am
Hatch:

I don't think Ron Franklin was alive in those days. The CD is brand new, and he doesn't look a day above 19 years old.
  9:49am
chris:

Almost nobody was alive in those days. The Harrison act was passed in 1914.
  9:51am
jonathan:

i want my beer and morphine!
  9:53am
dc pat:

I want chewable beer.
  9:55am
dc pat:

Please don't call those m*therf*ckers DC Republicans. There is really no such thing. About 95% of DC residents are Democrats.
  9:57am
Hatch:

Apologies Pat. That 5% is a really loathsome bunch, though.
  9:59am
dc pat:

Well, what I mean is they aren't "DCers". Republicans move to town and never really live here, never register to vote here, just abuse the crap out of the place and then leave when they're done. BUT, you're right on about Rove's idiotic musings.
  9:59am
Cecile:

Goodbye all for now.
They blocked WMPlayer at my work, and I have to figure out how to work around it.

Sigh.
  10:02am
dc pat:

sorry Cecile. Good luck and see you around.
  10:04am
Barney:

Souled American did some version of the 25c morphine/15c beer song (which I assumed must be an actual old-timey one) under the title "Soldier's Joy".
  10:05am
Chris:

Cecile. That was often done (back when i was a cube monkey) by filename extension. See if some other software will play one of the other streams.
  10:08am
R. P.:

Cecile, it may also be based on bandwidth. When our network got downgraded they blocked my 128K stream, but I can still listen with the 20K Realaudio stream. It sucks, but it's better than nothing.
  10:12am
chris:

Was it this song? http://lcweb2.loc.gov/afc/afccc/soldiersjoy/
  10:13am
Cecile:

we are working frantically on this...
  10:15am
Hatch:

Old timey music by Al Gore's dad? I won't be able to resist playing that one.
  10:17am
Chris:

I know! It even has its own dance!
  10:20am
Kent:

This spacey noise piece is amazing! You've made my day.
  10:20am
Dan:

Hey I like this one a lot, but can you play something kinda dumb.
  10:21am
Hatch:

That album sounds pretty sweet all the way through.
  10:26am
Barney:

Looks like you can sing just about any lyrics you like to "Soldier's Joy":
http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=1425

The second entry has the whisky/beer/morphine line. Should lead to some interesting dancing.
  10:26am
James:

al gore senior
  10:27am
dlroth:

play some van halen
  10:27am
jim:

dumb!
  10:27am
patrick:

something dumb please
  10:27am
jcityFiteStyle:

play some david lee roth over al gore
  10:28am
Kent:

As long as he doesn't talk, let's hear it!!
  10:28am
dc pat:

That's a hard one. I'll go with "dumb"
  10:28am
Chris:

I gotta vote for al gore's dad. That might be dumb after all and then you get two birds/one stone.
  10:28am
big wayne:

play some lil wayne
  10:28am
bluestate225:

dumb please
  10:29am
William:

Al Gore Sr.
  10:29am
Listener Dave from NH:

Something dumb so I can feel smart, if only for a little while.
  10:29am
dumb:

yeah for me
  10:29am
GUMBY:

Al Senior!
  10:30am
Ike:

I vote for fiddle music. There are all kinds of dumb music. What kind of dumb music? And why is somebody always trolling here in favor of dumb music? Van Halen sucks.
  10:30am
R. P.:

Fiddling Gore
  10:31am
GUMBY:

Wait, Al Senior with Clinton sax mash-up
  10:31am
william X:

What was the funk drone thingy? Ashram sumthin????
need to know --
DUMB !!! and heavy!!!!
  10:33am
jcityFiteStyle:

you'd like Blue Marble on Atlantic and Bond! the ice cream sodas are awesome!

or in Jcity you've got Torico on 1st and Erie - homemade ice cream!
  10:35am
Bad Ronald:

Didn't Nick Lowe pen the Bay City Rollers Tune?
  10:35am
R. P.:

Got a ticket to the Bay City Rollers...
  10:35am
Ike:

R.P., the 32k AAC+ stream sounds waaaaaay better than the Real stream. Cecile, I bet there's some way to listen through a proxy. Hmmmmm. Any ideas? If nothing else, I bet you can at least listen to the pop-up player archives, or are all your browser noises muted too?

Hatch, you could toss off a brief negative review of the ice cream joint on Chowhound or Citysearch or something. When somebody rips me off, I spread the word so that other people are aware of it.
  10:37am
Hatch:

I have been meaning to go to Blue Marble. It's gotta be better than Sweet Melissa Cremerie, that's for sure. Me, I love the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, and also the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory but mostly just for the view.
  10:39am
chris:

Wow. DLR singing about iggy pop. (at least i always figured that's who this song was about)
  10:39am
jonathan:

thanks for the VH.
  10:39am
d:

blue marble is crazy overpriced + tiny portions sadly. not bad ice cream though
  10:40am
Ken t:

David Lee Roth already sounds like a burnout!!! What year is this recording from?
  10:40am
R. P.:

Talk about eateries, they're planning to open a place in DC that features ramen noodle soup for $10 a bowl! The food police have figured out a way to make ramen upscale. I'm going back to brown-bagging it.
  10:40am
Dan:

Van Halen is pretty good, Ike.
  10:41am
Ike:

No it isn't. In fact, this is so incredibly dumb that it's threatening to melt the remnants of my brain. I'm going to see what WOXY.com is playing. Sorry.
  10:42am
Hatch:

It's from 1977 I believe.
  10:42am
Dan:

Oh come on, they don't play anything nearly as cool. This is why I love FMU!!!!
  10:43am
Hatch:

To be fair, the ramen at Momofuku in NYC is about $15 and it's definitely well worth it. Big portions, tons of pork, and utterly delicious.
  10:44am
dc pat:

Yeah, I don't see $10 as that much if it's really good. Although I had a bowl of noodles for about $7 the other day and it SUCKED toes.
  10:44am
Listener Dave from NH:

David Lee Roth is the one that looks like the Cryptkeeper, right?
  10:46am
food police:

you need to go to the dollar dumpling place on elridge - incredible pork sandwiches too
  10:47am
R. P.:

OK, maybe I'll give the gourmet raman a chance.
  10:48am
Hatch:

If Ike thought Van Halen was dumb, he's gonna love this next one...
  10:48am
GUMBY:

Ramen is God's way of saying -
"You're poor"
  10:48am
herr noiser:

speaking of big, dumb, and unashamed rock: anyone know where I can locate a copy of that recent reissue by French band Soggy? seems to be sold out everywhere! mon dieu!
  10:49am
Bad Ronald:

not at $15 a pop...
  10:49am
GUMBY:

If you look up secular rockuledge in the dictionary there's a picture of this song.
  10:50am
Bad Ronald:

Nice Hatch, diggin this Dumb Ass set!!!!
  10:51am
dc pat:

Can I change my vote to Al Gore's dad?
  10:52am
Matt:

As long as we're getting dumb how about some Dictators?
  10:52am
Ike:

Yeah, I tried coming back because "Downer-Rock Genocide" is such a great title, but then I got hit by the Judas. Yikes. That's what I get for complaining, right? Heh. Anyway, WOXY was just playing Johnny Cash.

Food Police, I love that dumpling joint, although the one further down at 46 Eldridge is even better.
  10:52am
PKNY:

Judas f-in Priest, baby! This is bringing back fond memories of juvenile delinquency and $8 cases of beer.
  10:53am
Dan:

Dumb or not, Priest had some good hooks.
  10:53am
Hatch:

Dictators? That's too dumb, even for me.
  10:54am
dc pat:

we use to buy Rock 'n' Roll beer for $5/case. I still can't believe that..
  10:54am
?:

now we're talking.........Priest!!!!!!! yowzaaaaaaaaa!!!!!
  10:54am
Bad Ronald:

Wottabout some Pink Fairies?
  10:55am
herr noiser:

I have 7 different version of the new Lil Wayne I'd trade for this Soggy album...
  10:56am
Hatch:

Unfortunately Ronald, this set does have to end at some point.
  10:58am
Bad Ronald:

Noooooooooo!!

Thanks for the dose of dumb anyway!
  10:58am
dlroth:

thanks for the rotate - need to hear that al gore with my ramens
  10:58am
Dan:

The Soggy album covers look like buff Carrot Top meets Weird Al.
  11:05am
Barney:

Dub hero with a twiddly-knob box controller?
  11:10am
Hatch:

That's an even better idea, sir.
  11:13am
wii:

  11:16am
north guinea hills:

Lovin' the music this morning!
  11:39am
Hatch:

Of course Mike... I am an idiot.
  11:40am
Hatch:

You know what game would be really, really easy?

Freeform Radio Hero.
  11:41am
Listener Dave from NH:

For those of you going blue with the Guitar Hero knock-offs, arcade game makers are way ahead of you - if you're at home or somewhere where people won't raise eyebrows at you ogling pictures of a video game where you poke people in the butt with your finger, Google for "Boong-Ga Boong-Ga."
  11:49am
jonathan:

what did you want to know about providence? i didn't catch that.
  11:50am
kwhitehead:

Take te Fung Wha bus.
  11:50am
jonathan:

  11:50am

  11:52am
?:

gasbuddy.com
  11:53am
kwhitehead:

That's the Chinatown bus, btw.
  11:53am
jeanine:

Gas is by far the cheapest in Jersey. Everywhere else on the way to new england, and in new england, is much more expensive.. you have to get kind of far into Jersey to get significantly cheaper prices but even then, you're still talking $3.50ish.
  11:54am
Mik:

  11:59am
