(mta) Tony:

I can see how any of the tunes on my earlier list would be out of place for your show, Marty. Sorry for the interruption. Have a great holiday!
  4:35am
marty:

no sorries thanks for listening. i went into an American tribute w/o an exit strategy and no real plan of atack. just alot of big guns and good intentions. and then got sick of it and abandoned all hope. and returned to my normal life/show. now that i think about it. its is pretty American!
  5:13am
mike:

Marty, great music playing now. do you play alot of this kind of stuff?
  5:15am
(mta) Tony:

You bet he does!
  5:16am
marty:

I guess so . . . when im in the mood for it. im playing this cause they list fireworks as an instrument.
  5:17am
mike:

this reminds me of the old 'transfigured night' type stuff they used to play on wkcr (columbia university) many years ago. Who on fmu plays this kind of stuff (ambient experimental, etc.). What great material for an ipod or for meditating to!
  5:25am
(mta) Tony:

This "kind" of music is played by DJ's Fabio, Martha, Tony Rettman and Stan, just to name a few as evidenced by the GREAT wfmu Playlist Search feature which answers your question, Mike. Check it out if you haven't already. In addition to those folks, Michael Goodstein, Woody, and Tony Coulter also plays this kind of "stuff." Quite enjoyable!
  5:33am
mike:

Thanks for the info Tony. I lived on stuff like this when I was in engineering school RPI back in the early 1980s. Makes for great late night listening!. The more eerie, the better. I think I still have cassette tapes from those days locked up in storage somewhere.
  5:38am
mike:

Tony, where does one find the playlist search feature?
  5:41am
mike:

okay think I found it. Thanks again!
  5:50am
(mta) Tony:

Yes Mike, right on the left side of the home page where it says, "Advanced Search." It's wonderful and could be a key in determining which archives to listen to. Have fun!
