Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Favoriting August 7, 2008: Corpulent Britisher/Kansas/SingFest - Episode 43

The show opens with a lengthy piece done by yours truly. It features a corpulent Britisher whom I haven't really given a name yet. He seems to be kind of an English Kolonel Karl. Anyway ... no offense is meant to anyone struggling with weight issues. I think this character just represents decadence in all forms. He is an outlet for our basest instincts of gluttony and self-satisfaction ... hopefully revealing all the loneliness and insecurity beneath the surface.

This characters voice is achieved by recording my voice at slow speed and then recording it again in fast forward mode. Complicated, yet simple in a stupid analog way. I hope you like him.

Kansas  Mysteries and Mayhem   Favoriting Masque  Kirshner  1975  LP  I like prog and Kansas was one of my fave bands back in the 70s in high school. THey kind of jumped the shark after "Leftoverture", but those early LPs were great. Big fan of Walsh and Livgren. I've been in a rediscovering Kansas phase for the last few weeks. I'll get over it.
I had an entire show slated for this "all singing" approach but I've never aired it, perhaps mercifully. This short excerpt did mangae to sneak out for this show. It is an improv done in my living room when no one was around and is basically stream of consciousness fluff. Weird how psychology creeps in in such circumstances.
Kansas  The Wall (Excerpt)   Favoriting Masque  Kirshner  1975  LP  I almost played it in its 9+ minute glory. Perhaps I should have. Maybe one day I will.
Wow ... I wish all playlists were so easy to do. I hope you enjoyed this show. I got quite a bit of positive response so far. Sometimes I wonder why I do all the interview-based shows when it's these "silly" ones that seem to get more reaction from listeners. This whole summer has been a strange broadcast experience for me. I'm SOOOOOO far behind on playlists. I feel bad about that. Life is moving too fast it seems. Anyway .... I hope you keep listening and, do let me know if you're out there. It makes a difference. Write me ...

Or you can call and leave a message for the D-SAM (Dusty Show Answering Machine)

Thanks again for being out there and for checking in. It means a lot. I hope you have a great week and until next time my friend ... always remember!
