That cowgirl song reminds me of when I was 4 or 5 years old in the suburbs of Long Island...never saw a horse or cow, but desperately wanted to be a cowgirl. We went to a trip to Old Sturbridge to see the farms & when I came face to face to a cow, I screamed and ran out of the barn histerically crying!!! Never knew there was a song just for me!!!

Morning all, anyone know the name of the tune The Ex opened up with on Wed? Was it a cover or original, and where can I find it? Those horns are still ringing in my head! (in a good way)

I'm pretty sure all the tunes they played were originally conceived by Mekuria and then worked out by the Ex. They have a new album out but I haven't figured out how to get it outside of sending the Ex a check.

Those Oriki reisusses are so hard to find in the states. Which is a shame because every one of them is essential.

You are SO right about those Oriki releases. I've purchased my copies at Dustygroove (http://www.dustygroove.com/), but this Manfila/Bamba disc appears to be currently out of stock. I still say that the Moussa Doumbia "Keleya" record is one of the greatest African tracks OF ALL TIME. (Sorry for shouting.)
