Listener comments!

  9:29am PG:

Top of the mornin to you Doug, and all listeners and FMU staff. Wed night was a summer highlight .. a show I won't forget anytime soon.
  9:33am Parq:

Doug, we're all neighbors, but if you put on a blue cardigan, I'm going to worry.
  9:33am JCityJensen:

You missed Womens 20Km SpeedWalking?????? are you nuts?
  9:39am Angela:

That cowgirl song reminds me of when I was 4 or 5 years old in the suburbs of Long Island...never saw a horse or cow, but desperately wanted to be a cowgirl. We went to a trip to Old Sturbridge to see the farms & when I came face to face to a cow, I screamed and ran out of the barn histerically crying!!! Never knew there was a song just for me!!!
  9:43am Swami:

It's the only type of country I listen to. . .thanx Doug! Got any Lavender Boys? "I love my fruit"?
  9:56am JCityJensen:

  10:06am dc pat:

  10:16am annie:

  10:23am Bad Ronald:

Hello Doug - Great show!!

Thanks - BR
  10:24am Hugo:

Listening in the present, but will be listening in the future, too ...
  10:32am Richard:

Morning all, anyone know the name of the tune The Ex opened up with on Wed? Was it a cover or original, and where can I find it? Those horns are still ringing in my head! (in a good way)
  10:34am dc pat:

I'm pretty sure all the tunes they played were originally conceived by Mekuria and then worked out by the Ex. They have a new album out but I haven't figured out how to get it outside of sending the Ex a check.
  10:37am dc pat:

of course, I'm in DC. I think Other Music in NY will have it.
  10:37am mp:

pretty sure it was "Ethiopia hagere" you can find it on the album Moa Anbessa, Getatchew Mekuria & The Ex & Guests (Terp Records (2006))
  10:39am kent goldings:

Here's the website:

http://www.terprecords.nl/

Unless things have changed since I last bought from them, they can't accept U.S. checks (but U. S. cash is okay)
  10:40am mp:

http://www.terprecords.nl/catalog.html
i got my copy at either other music or downtown music gallery
  10:42am dc pat:

just bought it w/ paypal
  10:43am mp:

you will never regret it
  10:45am dc pat:

  10:47am mp:

  10:54am Bruce in Boston:

I love Jackie, used to see him in Hartford all the time when I lived there.
  10:54am Hugo:

I'' reserve it for later so as not to interrupt the programming ...
  11:09am Matt:

What the world needs is more Gene Clark. Or at least that's what I need.
  11:12am richard:

I knew Doug's audience could be counted on! Downloading Moa Anbessa from iTunes as I write... Thanks
  11:16am Carmichael:

I'm doing an interpretive dance.
  11:24am Bad Ronald:

My entire life consists of one interpretive dance step after another...
  11:25am Bad Ronald:

...w/improv vox!
  11:37am PG:

Oh boy, this Manfila tune is smokin. Gets my vote for Most Valuable Song of the show.
  11:39am Paul Sherratt:

This Kante Manfila sounds more than wonderful.
This Pisco Sour tastes more than wonderful ...
  11:41am PG:

Those Oriki reisusses are so hard to find in the states. Which is a shame because every one of them is essential.
  11:48am Doug:

PG,
You are SO right about those Oriki releases. I've purchased my copies at Dustygroove (http://www.dustygroove.com/), but this Manfila/Bamba disc appears to be currently out of stock. I still say that the Moussa Doumbia "Keleya" record is one of the greatest African tracks OF ALL TIME. (Sorry for shouting.)
  11:50am PG:

The first couple showed up at Kim's at reasonable prices, but then nothing. I haven't been in a few weeks, but I haven't seen any of them there in at least a year.
  11:52am Richard:

Hey MP, pretty sure the first The Ex track was "Musicawi Silt" after listening to the album but it's all greta stuff....
  11:57am D.Stinji:

Great show, Doug. Thanks!
  11:58am Paul Sherratt:

Hate imagining adults cry - so if you continue to struggle with your Orikis - let Doug / me know and in the true spirit ( pisco ) of this programme I'll try and organise Oriki Relief -direct from the UK via Paris
  12:53pm Shae:

how you manage to push all my buttons at once, i have no idea. novos baianos and that kimberley briggs song is awesome. thanks for smoothing out my workday...
