  11:59pm
efd:

nothing personal, Toni D, i just can't get into the habit of random commenteer shout-outs unless it's in the context of the show or break.
Hi Michael K! Good to hear from you!
  12:02am
matt:

  12:02am

  12:06am
Laurie:

Evan, I love you for playing Shoes. <3
  12:07am
billy:

gentleman jesse had an Exploding Hearts vibe.......are they a contemporary artist?
  12:09am
efd:

billy, yep, Gentleman Jesse are current - that CD is great, I've totally overlooked it the past few weeks.
  12:09am
Joe:

Rest assured, billy, if they're on douche master, they're contemporary. Bleeeding edge, in fact.
  12:09am
miss buxley:

efd your soooooooo macho!!!!!!!!!
  12:11am
john:

I really like that Thomas Function record too...sounds like James on speed
  12:15am
numberman:

im there right now!!
  12:16am
Jessica:

Is it just me, or does Thomas Function sound like a guy stuck in 1985 with a 1987 haircut? Maybe it's both. Unless you hung out in Reno or SF circa 1985.
We're hopping a plane to NOLA, nowish. I wonder if there are any Bywater Funk-a-teers out there who can point us toward breakfast, when we land at eight stinkin' twenty in the morning. <sideshow bob grumble>
  12:16am
Laurie:

You can't say "October" because you know, deep in your heart, that should be saying "Rocktober." Obvs.
  12:20am
Jessica:

When I imagine saying "Rocktober" it comes out either unforgivably ironic or full-on "Rawk-tober". And now I'm gonna have to adopt that October0avoidance stutter. Thanks, Laurie.

(Hi, Evan!)
  12:25am
billy:

i don't know john.......douching dates back to ancient times
  12:26am
DJ Bollocks:

Digging this Tussle track.
  12:27am
efd:

Jessica, good to hear from you! Have fun in New Orleans!

Numberman, I'm confused- where are you right now?? Is this (yet) another case of a commenteer remarking on something i said that i have no recollection of 5 minutes later?
  12:32am
toni d.:

efd--since you granted laurie's request it's only fair that you play a tune off of THE CAKE cd,,please
  12:34am
john:

Jessica, that whole 1985/7 hair guy thing was my point when I thought it sounded like James after seventy-two double espressos. But I meant it as a compliment.
  12:36am
Joe:

I think SOMEBODY finally got out and saw the Dark Knight...
  12:36am
efd:

sadly not the case, Joe, as you'll hear in a moment
  12:41am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Batman theme rules! The recent Batman movies don't really cut it. I'm pretty sure I saw the Batmobile driving through Highland, NY, a few years ago. I could scarcely believe my eyes.
  12:44am
Joe:

Or yeah, it could be something sad. Bummer.

Biggest Batman theme song memory:

There was a small road in the town I grew in on Long Island that junctioned onto a larger main road on a small isthmus of land between two ponds. It looked exactly like the secret exit of the Batcave, the one with the "detour" sign. Everyone in our town and the next one over called it "the Batcave", ever since my father was a kid in the 60's.

My father also happened to have the Batman theme song on a casette compilation of television theme songs.

So for a while when I was 5 or 6, we would drive through that road on the way home from my grandpas house, blasting the Batman theme song.

I thought it was the funnest thing ever.
  12:44am
Laurie:

Oh, I was hoping for the "Sexy Moves" instructional video,
  12:46am
D in DC:

Did Hefti also do the Batgirl theme? "Where do you come from, where do you go?/What is your scene, baby, we just gotta know!"
  12:46am
Joe:

Man, it really is a genius piece of songwriting though.
  12:47am
batgirl:

evan play my theme
  12:50am
efd:

haha, Laurie, sorry to disappoint you!

Joe, great Batman theme story!

Toni/Miss B/Batgirl, with all due respect, the Shoes have been a favorite band of mine for 30 years. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever heard a song by The Cake. So, Shoes win!
  12:52am
efd:

not sure if Hefti wrote the Batgirl theme, it's not in the station's MP3 library which is all i have time to check at this point.
  1:00am
D in DC:

If anyone wants to hear the Batgirl theme, it's on Yvonne Craig's web site (http://yvonnecraig.com)

I think the math questions we have to answer to post should be harder.
  1:00am
billy:

tommy gun is great don't get me wrong.......but it reminds me of the mets.....and they let me down........good call on the neckbreakers....
  1:08am
john:

Just for bragging rights, and to show how old I am, I was at that Clash show. And it sounds a lot better on CD than it did at Shea!
  1:08am
Joe B:

Redbones RULES. best restaurant ever.
  1:13am
Joe:

Reinhold will not something something day something live repair
  1:15am
efd:

thanks, Joe.
(regular Joe, that is)
  1:17am
Joe:

Hey man, If I'm not here to provide half-assed German translation, what AM I here for?
  1:19am
efd:

please feel free to provide a half-assed italian translation of this song title too, while you're at it.
  1:24am
Joe:

Sorry, out of my league. While I did, in fact, take two years of first year German in high school, I never got around to the "italiano", as the stereotypical pizza chef says.

But Del Jones? That's a spicy meataball!
  1:45am
Marcelo:

oh no its.............. blank dogs -los perros vacios-
thanx again evan
  1:58am
Ken From Hyde Park:

If it weren't for all the coffee I consumed today, I would've gone to bed before Tom Scharpling's show finished up. Thanks for a nice show, EFD, since I have no chance of falling asleep any time soon. Send my regards to Marty. I must put the laptop away and try to crash awhile before I need to get up for work again in a few hours.
  2:01am
Joe:

Yah _great_ show...
  7:47pm
profstevesteve:

Def not tired of Mr. Thomas Function. Just replayed em actually.
Can't wait for some mid-winter Hoagie-Fest surprises!
