  9:49am
~L:

Oops, my spelling... That would be "riddance"
  9:49am

  10:45am
Scott:

Great Free Blood song! This is getting me amped for the day.
  10:45am
paulthepostman:

Annie, re the wild wild east... I understand that people/hamas question. We had a similar scene going down here with people/ira. It goes beyond people/protagonists.
  10:47am
annie:

  10:57am
Mickey Mephistopheles:

Agreed. People are groovy. Unless they disagree with me.;)
  10:59am
Mickey Mephistopheles:

Similar, weird thing that's WFMU related,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EOjm470Rnw
"The Rise And Fall of the Ottoman Empire", from the old WFMU-TV public access show.
Read the comments; there were apparently people from Turkey who took the video seriously and missed the point of the video altogether. Cross-cultural interpretation can be funny that way.
  11:05am
dc pat:

I meant somebody that matters. But anyway...
  11:06am
Hammurabi:

As a Babylonian, I find these reggae songs insulting.
  11:08am
HotRod:

Leave Mickey alone!
  11:10am
Lazlo Kovacs:

Danny Boyle IS a hack. Get him. And maybe play something from Michael Gira. Thanks.
  11:11am
Hatch:

I will not leave Mickey alone. The man only has himself to blame.

But like I said, I enjoyed The Wrestler.
  11:11am
Carmichael:

Not only is it Hatch, but he brought Davey Graham with him! Great day in the morning.
  11:11am
Free Speecher:

OK. Let's move this conversation away from politics and over to religion. Does your god permit abortions?
  11:12am
Cecile:

hatch, this is awesome.
I just discovered Davey Graham a few months ago.
My favorite Mingus piece!
Now i need this record.
  11:12am
annie:

hatch, we stopped ranting..
  11:12am
Mickey Mephistopheles:

OK, sorry if I pissed anyone off, It was not my intent.
  11:12am
Hatch:

I do not have a god. But if I did, he would be an abortionist.
  11:13am
Bad Ronald:

There is no such thing as "Free Will".
  11:14am
Cecile:

Now, tell me about Arvo Part.
I was listening to the FrankenXM Symphony Hall channel last night, and they played a choral piece that was just crazy haunting.

Free Will with purchase.
that was just crazy beautiful.
  11:14am
Sloppy Poppy:

just wondering what a 60's Brit-folk supergroup with Davey Graham, John Renbourne, Bert Jansch, and Paul Simon would have sounded like... probably some string snappin good times!
  11:14am
Carmichael:

Cecile, the CD is readily available and a religious experience. The vinyl, well that's much rarer.
  11:15am
John Calvin:

Bad Ronald. You are right on point. Predestination is the ticket. Are you one of the saved?
  11:15am
Cecile:

trading guitar solos for 12 hours and no one would notice the time.

Carm, I figured the first pressing would be, and the MOJO reissue is also sold out. So I'll go with the CD.
  11:16am
Bad Ronald:

nah, I'm trashed.
  11:16am
John Calvin Hobbes:

Has anyone seen my friend? He is a tiger.
  11:16am

Cecile:

  11:17am
Jerry Garcia:

Keith Richards puts my own pathetic attempts to sing this song to shame.
  11:17am
annie:

  11:18am
John Calvin Hobbes:

thanks, nice lady!
  11:19am
Carmichael:

A cursory search of the GEMM site located a copy of Graham's album in Greece ($44) and Canada ($29).
  11:20am
Cecile:

wow, you are on the ball today!
  11:20am
Jerry Garcia:

BTW, up here, you have a whole other view of religion. I am not allowed to reveal the truth, but I can tell you that you people are silly. Very, very silly.
  11:22am
stingy d:

JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
  11:22am
Cecile:

you know, people might pelt me with tomatoes for this, but Ozzy's "Mama I'm Comin' Home" is a great song in this "hey, I'm coming home in pine box" genre. As is just about anyone singing "the green green grass of home"
  11:22am
Carmichael:

I do not need a miracle, Jerry.
  11:23am
stingy d:

nah cecile, i like it, i'll a make a you da sauce yea?
  11:23am
Hatch:

Ben Franklin:

Gods a Metrosexual!
  11:23am

Cecile:

  11:25am

  11:25am
Hatch:

No problem. Just for you! Happy birthday.

Everyone say happy birthday to Lang, please.
  11:25am
Carmichael:

Agreed. Just tell all the unwashed who wander around your concerts with illegal smiles.
  11:25am
Cecile:

stingy, yah, please do!
  11:26am
Doug from DC:

Max still performs around here. Always wearing his boy scout uniform.
  11:27am
Carmciahel:

Who's Lang? Happy Birthday, Lang.
  11:28am
Hatch:

Lang is a fellow listener.

Where I come from, we say happy birthday to our fellow listeners.
  11:28am
Cecile:

  11:29am
Carmichael:

  11:29am
annie:

  11:30am
Lang:

Dude, you are really bringing it this morning!
  11:31am
Cecile:

  11:31am
stingy d:

  11:31am
Lang:

Thanks guys! I'm going thru changes! That is what happens as you age
  11:32am
?:

never noticed before, but are they using a mellotron on this track?
  11:32am
Hatch:

I couldn't bring myself to actually put a copy of No More Tears in the CD player. Figured this was close enough...
  11:32am
PMD:

OH, how great... didn't know this black sabbath song.
  11:33am
Cecile:

LL Stingy D

This works great, Hatch!
  11:35am
still b/p:

Forced to use MS Explorer for now, and it returns to top of playlist page with each refresh. (Firefox didn't do so.) Such an unhappy tedious bungee twang. I'm as mournful as this Mister Double-Ought number here. Any settings fix?
  11:36am
elvie:

  11:36am
stingy d:

  11:39am
Carmichael:

  11:39am
bob loblaw:

I watched the 3rd season of The Wire in 1 day (a Saturday) and the 4th in one day (the next day, Sunday). Talk about a lost weekend! When I walked out, I felt like everyone was going to shoot me.
  11:39am
bubs:

  11:41am
Cecile:

bob, that's how I felt after watching the entire first season of the Shield in three days.
  11:42am
GP:

Good morning Bad Ronald, HATCH!, Annie, Stingy D, Paul the Postman, Cecile, Cosmic, Carmichael. and everyone else...still having connection probs on this end...will check in later....looks like i'm missing a great show.
Hatch, did you win your election?
  11:42am
Listener James from Westwood:

I did the same thing as you did, while ill, except with Seasons 1 + 2 of "The Sopranos" back between the 2nd and 3rd seasons 'round 99 or 00. Now beginning a long-delayed foray through "Deadwood" and worried, as you are w/ "Wire," about finishing it too soon and not having more. "Wire" is actually Netflix-queued up next.
  11:43am
bob loblaw:

How many episodes in a season of the Shield?
  11:44am
Hatch:

I sure did win my election, GP. I was running unopposed. I ran into my State Senator a few weeks ago and he told me I was a bad politician because I couldn't remember which election district I represent.
  11:44am
bob loblaw:

I also watched an entire season of Arrested Development while trapped in a hotel in Caracas.
  11:47am
Cecile:

the earlier ones had like 22, but now it's more like 13-15.
I haven't watched the last 7 eps or so cause I know there will be no more when I'm done.

that's so silly.

bob, that explains a lot.
  11:48am
paulthepostman's son tom:

first time listener. ive heard alot about WMFU through my dad and I think its living up to its expectations.
  11:48am
Listener James from Westwood:

"Arrested Development" was the 1st series-binge I engaged in when I got Netflix. "Shield " would be a good post/Inter-"Wire" series for me to snack on.
  11:48am
annie:

welcome to the sandbox tom..
  11:50am
GP:

Welcome PTPS Tom..glad you are able to join us today.

Hatch..meh...district, schmistrict..I can't remember what precinct I'm in either..what matter is the message not the detail...(insert winking smiley face here).
  11:50am
Cecile:

Listener James, it is an addictive snack. Like eating whole pickled jalapenos and chasing them with ever clear.
  11:51am
Gas:

Hi. Could you play some Rockamovya?
  11:51am
dc pat:

I not big on TV at ALL but I did just watch Extras -- there are only about 7 in all.
  11:52am
still b/p:

Sheesh! Don't know where folks find (or do ace mgmt. of) the time for these TV archive immersions. But I've had strong praisey recommendations for Deadwood. Should I pull that trigger?
  11:53am
Cecile:

i for one am letting a ton of other stuff slide, for sure.
  11:55am
bob loblaw:

I love series-binging. Other shows I've consumed in basically 1-2 days:

Freaks and Geeks
Mad Men
Weeds

Sopranos
Alias (got progressively worse after season 1)
True Blood (admittedly, this show blows, but my brother had it Tivoed, so we watched 8 episodes in one sitting - so depressing).

I'm sure there are others, but sadly nothing has ever matched A.D. or The Wire. The thing is, I don't have an antenna or cable, so I only watch TV shows when they come out on DVD. Actually, I only watch DVDs, so while I consume shows in a binge-like fashion, my overall TV-watching is probably pretty low comparatively.

The original Office is another one that is doable in a day since there are only a handful of episodes. Ab Fab and other BBC shows are usually pretty doable.

I avoid most weekly US shows, like the US Office because there's like 300 episodes, and I def. do not have time for that.

Swamp Thing was a show? Sounds terrible, like watching 6 hours of Beauty and the Beast, or True Blood.

It was on Sci Fi Channel or Nickelodeon, when they were doing marathon broadcasts. Not sure if they do anymore, TV's gone by the wayside for me.

my sis just spotted this. You played a song by our dad, Harry Reynolds of Ashman Reynolds - thank you, we are really proud of his music and still love this album, but don't think it ever got the exposure it deserved.
