Starting with the 70s -- it could be a classic (or obscure) punk rocker, a forgotten disco diva, a long-unheard hit record, or none of these. What happens next depends on what's in the WFMU new bin and whether I remember my records from home. Tune in and find out! You'll even hear a live band once in a while.

Cheri, so far the new year is treating me very well.

I think I'm actually going to miss him. He was a Nixon to my Hunter S. Thompson. Except, you know, more evil and less smart.

In a way. I certainly don't take guff from swine, if that's what you're asking.
EFD, great story. And it meshes with this song in ways I can't even understand.

This was my class's "senior song" - we all had to stand in front of everyone and sing it. It would have been much less humiliating en espanol

Ooooh, no: it was not conceivable that one might love the EFD even more, but that story made me effing weepy all over again.
I fainted during the taking of the oath.
That was probably due more to not-eating than that je ne sais global beatific moment.
I [heart] Little Evan.
Kinda loathe this song, tho. It's a grew-up-in-SF thing: that song never ever ever stopped playing, between 1980 and, er, now. Gracias for the mitigating en espanol.

Not to turn the board all linguistic again or bring the tone of discourse down a notch, but someone help me out with what they were singing in the chorus after celebramos or I'll be smirking like a sixth grader all night because of what it sounded like.

Ellen Foley was before Karla Devito--Ellen was on the albums, Karla only sang on the road.
Ellen's Nightout album is very very good
Wed. 1/21/09 12:20am
From:

Ellen Foley also sang with Ian Hunter on a great single from 1980, We Gotta Get Out Of Here. Which leads into the Mott The Hoople reunion shows in London this fall. I'm so going.

Wed. 1/21/09 12:41am
From:

I've really liked what you've played off this elpee too, actually. May just fall into the "if you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'll like" category.
Wed. 1/21/09 12:42am
From:
Deaconlight
Without being retro, the sound does harken back to Machine Gun Etiquette, Strawberries, et al. Then again, I confess 2001's Grave Disorder is one of my favorite Damned albums. And I have been a hard-core Damned fan since the 1970s.
Wed. 1/21/09 12:42am

I would never in a million years have guessed that was by the Damned
Wed. 1/21/09 12:43am
From:

The Damned definitely belong in the US R&R Hall of Fame. They have been a consistently awesome punk band since the 70s who have continued to grow their sound.

Evan, didn't I ask that you please play some crap so I can go to bed? I'm so tired. Please don't play any more good songs.
Wed. 1/21/09 12:45am
From:

I know it's kind of apples and oranges, but personally this Love Is All song excites me a lot more than that Damned track. This album reminds me of that mid-80s 'goth' period, which I wasn't that crazy about either.
Wed. 1/21/09 12:46am
From:

Sadly, my knowledge of the damned starts and ends with "damned damned damned" and "Smash It Up"

Wed. 1/21/09 12:49am
