A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Quentin Crisp would hold court at the coffee shop on 2nd ave and 6th street. The young bucks of the East Village would buy him dinner to bask in his presence. He rarely spoke much, however.

I live out in the country, you can have all the crickets, bats, woodpeckers, ground hogs you'd like. Sadly, no loons, swedish elkhorns, we do have French Canadians who mutter in french.
  10:04am
Listener Dave from NH:

If you like the Balkan dance music, Google up Schobbejak. He put together a couple of mixes of this sort of music that are pretty good, and even better because they're branded "Booty Balkan/gypsytech" which makes me laugh for all the right reasons. Maybe wrong reasons.
  10:04am

  10:49am
stingy d:

hey folks, look. i like basketball a lot and everything. but i also like everybody to feel good. if you want to know how to feel good - go to this link and read up on "stingy d's: guide to a fantastic feel".... its some nonsense i did for a basketball blog.

  10:53am

elvie, i do like a. diane, we almost had her live here once upon a time. and lil bobby i can't help you on the 7" . the lable is ole. google it maybe...
  10:54am
GP:

Annie, and Cecile,
At the top of the playlist where it says "Listen Live to WFMU"
Choose the 24k AAC+, or the 32K MP# stream.

When you click on it you should get a message that says
"Open With" and it will probably show your default player, usually Windows Media Player....instead browse the location where your Foobar is ( mine was on the desktop) and choose the Foobar.exe as the player, everything should start right up...
  10:55am
Cecile:

what is the website where I may find this Foobar?
  10:56am
GP:

http://www.foobar2000.org/?page=Download

At the top it says Download latest stable version
  10:57am
tombom:

  10:59am
GP:

Stingy D...that was an entertaining post..In fact I now feel ( and look!) fantastic....is that your picture on there or did you steal that off the intertubes?
  11:01am
Ellen:

Hi from the museum again. Awesome live show- thanks trouble.
  11:02am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:02am
Ike:

Winamp are VLC are also good, and Winamp is more user-friendly and better for playlists, but Foobar is the one that often magically operates on locked-down workplace computers. You can play ANY of FMU's streams in Foobar. Alternate instructions: Open it, hit CTRL+U and put in http://aacplus.wfmu.org (or whichever other stream URL you prefer).

Nice live set!
  11:02am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Susanna was pretty good. Thanks for bringing her to the air.
  11:04am
stingy d:

that picture was of danilo gallinari some 19 year old millionaire professional international sports star, plays for the new york knicks

thanks for reading gp!
  11:04am
Ike:

Oops, I meant "Winamp and VLC" not "Winamp are VLC." Sheesh.
  11:06am
GP:

Thanks again Ike
  11:10am
annie:

ok, will do.... must attend to breaker switch issues for the water pump, first.
  11:10am
Cecile:

thanks, ike!
  11:11am
GP:

Stingy..gotta get back into B-Ball. My family to have season tickets to the H-Town Rockets way back when with Akeem ( Hakeem) and all that. I really have not kept up with it recently.
  11:15am
Doug G:

Amazing show today, Trouble. Almost as good as those truffles you make!
  11:18am
stingy d:

yea i am a basketball lunatic. them rockets there were pretty impressive last year and this year they got ron artest, who is the bull goose looney of the nba. in high school he dunked on a friend of mine and then kicked him square in the lip, 6 stitches or something.

basketball is the best, even better than ping pong! i have a feel for the game, if you will
  11:22am
stingy d:

i'm in bed with a warm dog this day is a fantastic one
  11:23am
Cecile:

I useta love baskellball until I learned Robert Parrish kicked the crap out of his wife. It lost a lot of that luster.

But, hey! Hakeem! Winning a title while fasting during Ramadan! And, hey, the Detroit Pistons are still pretty damn good.

Stingy, what kind of dog?
  11:24am
GP:

Yea, getting Artest..Neaarly all of the Houston teams are notorious for always picking up or trading off the wrong people at the wrong time.
  11:24am
Hugo:

Fine to hear Susanna on the show. I haven't heard her live, even though she's played in town several times, but I did catch her brother Christian last year - in fact, seen him twice in different settings.
  11:25am
Cecile:

that's the Timberwolves in a nutshell, right there.
  11:32am
dale:

edie was quite a character!
  11:35am
stingy d:

uh this dog is some kind of mutt. its black and white and its name is gladys. she likes to dig, sleep, and murder most animals.

i hope everyone feels fantastic.
  11:35am
annie:

  11:37am
Lucky:

Two fish taco meals in one day?

Hey, you deserve IT!!!!!
  11:38am
ted:

Fish taco? Is that like the Angry Samoans Tuna Taco?
  11:39am
fishmonkeystew:

Hey, I want a fish taco! Have one for me Trouble. I guarantee that there isn't a place within 30 miles of me that serves fish tacos. I gotta make 'em myself.
  11:39am
annie:

a very weird day today to be sure....
  11:39am
trouble:

ooops I forgot, no fish tacos till the pm...drat
  11:40am
GP:

Annie, it's all you!....I still have the comments and playlist go away sometimes. usually just have to refresh but sometimes I have to exit and restart my browser.

When you get a minute, clearing your Internet cache adn old history, etc. might help a bit as well.
  11:40am
Adrian in London:

I heard of Gray Gardens because of you mentioning it Trouble. AT the time it wasn't available in the UK. I love it to bits. Look forward to seeing The Beales of Grey Gardens too.
  11:42am
ted:

The musical was divine.
  11:48am
annie:

GP- thanks for the help, i am all turned around today. once i made that query comment, it refreshed. very odd, indeed. am also dealing with various interferences with the real world too. seems like the sugar high is finally over, figuratively.
  11:49am
annie:

but i'm listening!!! maybe i should just turn the volume up... ten minutes to go.. wow, trouble, i have been listening, really..
  11:49am
Adrian in London:

There was talk of it coming to the West End but it would've been pretty risky given that no-on in the UK had seen the film. Not a huge fan of musicals in general, either.
  11:51am
stingy d:

fantastic feel to the set trouble!
  11:52am
55rpm:

M.I.A. is nominated for best song (co-writer) oscar this year for 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Maybe we'll see her at the Acadamy Awards show performing.
  11:53am
ted:

Saw the movie when it came out way back when. The musical really did it justice. The Beale portrayals were fantastic.
  11:53am
sebastian:
