  9:12am
Jason:

  9:13am
annie:

there was no feed, no music. silence.. ken said something about the dns...?
  9:14am
paulthepostman:

'pminsussex' is me not paying attention; 'pminsussex' is my pass word to my amex plutonium account, silly me.
  9:14am
Glenn L:

The online signal returned around 3 - 3:30pm.
  9:15am
annie:

  9:16am
Jason:

  9:16am
SmokinJ:

Hmmm...Never lost the stream even for a minute yesterday..
  9:17am
annie:

hhmmm......... got nothing at all almost all day. even the website wouldn't come up. oh well, here you are.
  9:17am
stingy d:

  9:18am
SmokinJ:

Website WAS down; all streams UP :)
  9:18am
pminsussex:

SmokinJ - you not poota dependent?
  9:18am
Jason:

yeah smokin j, i think the stream worked if you had it in itunes, but our site itself was down
  9:20am
stingy d:

you know what'simpossible to get a copy of? bloodclot gangsta youth
  9:20am
still b/p:

Home page says restoration was 4-ish. I got in/on midday. Strange and mysterious for a while to do without a need-filler that's so easy & reliable ordinarily, "Where it at?! I wanna wanna hear it!". An eerie lacka/wanna.
  9:20am
SmokinJ:

ITunes? God forbid! Listened all day with Winamp and other assorted software. No problema..
  9:20am
sub:

your show is making me late for work
  9:21am
owen:

yeah. i had the link to the stream already up in winamp and it was fine all day.

god. listen to us all... it's as if there was a great collective trauma or something yesterday,
  9:21am
Jason:

by itunes, i meant some sorta software...who hates the itunes? i just started using songbird, anybody try that?
  9:23am
paulthepostman:

Technical Dept: no notooons or unrealplayer reception yesterday, ah-um.
  9:23am
SmokinJ:

Songbird isn't bad. Sort of an open source clone of JRiver Media Center.
  9:25am
paulthepostman:

Jason - I started using BBB radio 4.
  9:27am
paulthepostman:

...got nothing there either until I tried BBC radio 4!
  9:31am
Parq:

I am one of those guys who has to use WMP at work, and it was out all day. Thank Dog I had some old FMU podcasts available or I would have gone through withdrawal. Let's hear it for the stream team, who must have really earned their stripes yesterday.
  9:33am
stingy d:

i hate when i finally find something on bloodclot gangster youth and its in some type german icelandic gunky language the only words i understand are "Me shot pussyhole people fi fun! Who wan test me?" i understand that well and good.
  9:33am
annie:

i guess i was so annoyed at winamp and the website disappearing, it didn't even dawn on me to try itunes... .. i'm embarrassed.
  9:35am
Bad Ronald:

Ha ha "stream team". Makes me think of water sports...
  9:39am
paulthepostman:

BR you are incontinently incorrigible!
  9:40am
paulthepostman:

Annie, don't be embarrassed.
  9:42am
Bad Ronald:

Sorry, I miss you guys...
  9:42am
Parq:

Has anybody taken Ike up on his suggestion to try Foobar at work. I'd have given it a go yesterday except I was swamped with - oh, the embarrassment - actual work.
  9:49am
paulthepostman:

Jason - is Ghislain Poirier in that loop?
  9:49am
annie:

BR- we miss you too, good to see your old silly self here. when i have an idle moment , i guess i'll try foobar; i have this routine that has very little space for variation.. habits are weird. . guess i'm afraid of missing something if i try a new program or music server; even one song ..
  10:09am
stingy d:

time to get out of bed sleepy head

you've been somewhere ronald?
  10:10am
paulthepostman:

I forgot to wash my feet before getting into Imaam Bey's Mosque.
  10:12am
Bad Ronald:

Not really Stingy, just swamped as well...

BTW - I dug your "Feel Good" piece!
  10:13am
Panda123:

Hi Jason! did I miss the powerpop portion of the show?
Love,
Panda
  10:14am
Liz B.:

Is this bagpipe number dedicated to Doron?
  10:14am
stingy d:

oh cool, thanks ron.

yximalloo is where it's at!
  10:17am
Ken:

The problem yesterday would've affected every person differently - DNS servers were bouncing up and down non-stop from 830am to 4pm. So it all depended on which one your own ISP was looking at.
  10:17am
Ken:

Hey Paul the Postman - where you at in Sussex County?
  10:18am
Cecile:

bah, now i have Web, but no soundz.

I will keep trying.
  10:19am
Ken:

Cecile - email me off-playlist and I will try to help you out. ken at wfmu dot org
  10:21am
GP:

Morning all....Parq, I'm listening in with Foobar as I type this, sounds good so far.
  10:22am
still b/p:

Another fine radio/computer simul-sound combo was going on in this room: Yximalloo and Andy Williams doing Canadian Sunset. Hmmmoo..currents of secret strange power created.
  10:26am
Parq:

Thanks for the update, Ken. I have barely a vague idea what all that means, but hey . . .
  10:26am
stingy d:

what's a book worth reading?
  10:27am
stingy d:

also...
what's the difference between a pick pocket and a peeping tom?
  10:28am
Ken:

I just read "John Lennon: A Life" and "Brainwash" and I loved both of them.
  10:29am
stingy d:

what's brainwash?
  10:29am
annie:

i loved "this house of sky" by ivan doig. loved it...
  10:29am
Anatoly:

cripes stingy, a pick pocket lifts your wallet and a peeping tom watches you take a shower.
  10:30am
stingy d:

close...
a pickpocket snatches watches.
  10:30am
stingy d:

somehow i feel like that joke works better face to face
  10:31am
Bad Ronald:

I like it!
  10:31am
Ken:

Brainwash by Dominic Streafeild, it's a history of brainwashing experiments, by US, Canadian and British military and psychiatric institutions.
  10:32am
Anatoly:

D'oh!
  10:33am
annie:

ken i heard that the twins experiments continued in brazil. and some community was created due to that.. just a passing bit of news i saw.
  10:33am
stingy d:

i told that joke to a porn star and she didn't get it.
  10:35am
Bad Ronald:

Well, they're not known for having good head...
  10:35am
GP:

Stingy. Its kind of an older book but I just read:
Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing by Ted Conover. About a journalist who gets a job as a corrections officer at Sing Sing prison just so he could see it from an insiders perspective. Pretty good stuff.
  10:36am
GP:

Annie,
That is true, I saw that as a news story the other day. They had a photo of about 100 sets of twins as a group photo.
  10:36am
still b/p:

BR: Should one even say "Rim shot", given the direction of discussion...?
  10:38am
paulthepostman:

Ken - Brighton UK. Sandwiched between verdant undulating inland downs and very wet sea with octopus and giant man-eating sharks and lemon and lime flavoured jellyfishes and yellow submarines.
  10:38am
Parq:

Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" just won the annual Newbery Award. It's targetted at old kids, but his stuff is always a great read.
  10:38am
Bad Ronald:

Quite apropos...
  10:39am
annie:

GP-boy does that make me feel better that i am actually perceiving reality and not embedded in a dream!...oh wait, maybe it's the other way around. ..
  10:39am
stingy d:

i like cranky perverts, but i don't want to read any more bukowski...
  10:39am
stingy d:

you're perceiving a dream and embedded in reality?
  10:40am
Doug from DC:

There's "The Counterlife" by Phillip Roth, if you're looking for a novel. Martin Amis once called it the greatest postmodern novel at a reading I attended, and it's definitely a contender.
  10:41am
Parq:

Crisp's "The Naked Civil Servant" is good libertine crumudgeon stuff.
  10:41am
annie:

oh read henry miller, stingy!! i actually have moments when i'm not sure if a memory is a dream i had or a time and event from my past.. my brain is changing it's relationship with reality.
  10:42am
stingy d:

as long as you guys get along it's ok annie
  10:44am
GP:

Want a reality swap? I have about 500 PDF files to rename, all manually...arrgh. Although if that is the least of my problems, at least I still have work to do.....<knocks on wooden desk>
  10:44am
Doug in DC:

Yeah, Annie, either of the Tropics or Black Spring.
  10:44am
annie:

i guess if i were embedded in a safe place, it would be okay. now and then it is very disconcerting.
  10:45am
Cecile:

stingy - I like Old Dogs are the Best Dogs.
Great photos, nice brief narratives.

Yay, back among the living. I had a balky WMP.
  10:47am
stingy d:

i think henry miller is my guy. thanks for the help everybody... i hate going into book stores aimlessly. and i will probably go to the strand, and being aimless in there is like trying to induce a panic attack.
  10:47am
annie:

GP_ i'd love to help you, that kind of stuff is right up my alley. and douig, henry miller could do no bad writing in my opinion..
  10:48am
annie:

colossus of marrousi ,stingy, is great!!
  10:50am
GP:

Thanks Annie, as you can tell by my comments I'm not really "focused" on my work right now, but I'll get back to it in a minute...or maybe the minute after that..or maybe when my boss is standing in my doorway.
  10:51am
stingy d:

he isn't going to make a whole slew of hoity toity references throughout is he?
  10:51am
Raf:

Polvo. Crazy.
  10:52am
stingy d:

http://tinyurl.com/hang-in-there-GP
  10:53am
annie:

stingy, colossus of maroussi is all about greece. it is astounding and a wonderful read, non fiction. and really check out "this house of sky" by ivan doig. memoir of a boy who grew up sheep ranching the the mid-west..
  10:53am
paulthepostman:

Doug from DC Book Club! - Thanks for the "The Counterlife" mention, I have only read Portnoy's Complaint, (at the tender age of 15). Enjoyed it under the bed sheets!
  10:55am
stingy d:

alright let's go eat a bagel together.
  10:55am
Doug from DC:

I started with Tropic of Capricorn, which is backwards in the order of Tropics, but I think it worked better that way. Stingy - he had a way of making any references anti-hoity-toity.
  10:55am
Cecile:

is this a Fall record, or just lots of Fall samples?

and how come the Fall aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
  10:56am
annie:

word up stingy. if i were near there i would take you up on that.
  10:58am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:00am
GP:

Ha Ha Stingy....that was good...sorrta like a "missed" stage dive..I'm reminded of that scene in School of Rock where Jack Black does a face plant!
  11:01am
Cecile:

thanks, jason, I now NEED that record.

MES keeps reinventing himself in a way I like.
  11:08am
GP:

Does anyone out there have that video game Rock Band?
We have it for the PS2...for the kids of course!...My question is how do you turn up the drum sounds? I'd like to hear more of the drum rather than the sticks hitting the drum pads.
  11:08am
fishmonkeystew:

Anyone know where to pick up a digital delay/sampler pedal for guitar/bass, cheap? Or an echoplex?

Good morning All!!
  11:10am
c:

make this noise stop. it is too early for this.
  11:11am
GP:

Jason,

THanks for this Jarrod Fowler..this sounds like my office!
  11:11am
GP:

In fact I though my headphones were off for a minute!
  11:13am
Doug in DC:

I was going to say "oh, no, this song will be in my head all day."
  11:15am
Raf:

Regarding the digital delay, I'd try musicgoround.com.
  11:16am
Cecile:

After the cars cover yesterday on Irene's show, and this, I now beseech artists to stop covering 70s Top 40 hits.
  11:17am
Cecile:

Thin Lizzy deep tracks are another matter entirely.

Does this band have something to do with Coal Chamber...
  11:19am
paulthepostman:

This could be the next xmas hit in the UK.
  11:20am
JJZ:

That Baker Street cover was fun.
  11:20am
GP:

Jason , thanks for this Carnival of Coal...too funny...never though Gerry Raffert had it in him.
  11:20am
?:

that last cut totally ripped off the riff from some '80s rock song, can't think of the name...
  11:21am
GP:

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
  11:22am
Patrick:

Is that the way Baker Street ends? It sounds cut off. It was the same way on Brian's marathon premium last year.
  11:23am
Sean Daily:

This Skulls song has possibly the best title since "Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through the Goal Posts of Life" and "Knee My Spirit in the Groin With Your Love, O Lord".
  11:23am
stingy d:

i left. but i came back. and now i'm here to tell you that i have the "soft and dri" theme song stuck in my head.
  11:24am
Jason:

i guess the carnival of coal was supposed to cut off? that's the only way i know it
  11:26am
stingy d:

soft and driiii
woooo0000OOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  11:28am
stingy d:

also i decided to mop the floor. so i have to wait to have a bagel now. you're still invited.
  11:32am
annie:

ok stingy, i'll tell you what... i'll let you know when i'm approaching city limits, then we can bagel it..
  11:33am
Raf:

I think there's one strange Japanese track per episode of Talk's Cheap and I always really dig it.
  11:33am
The Log Lady:

I'm having a vanilla yogurt, but I'd rather have a bagel.

Jason, what was the website for the Dublab thingy?
  11:35am
Jason:

intoinfinity.org
  11:37am
The Log Lady:

Gracias! Mucho coolness! There goes any productivity for the rest of the day...
  11:44am
Dominick:

Ouch! Pekka has left - right polarity reversal.
  11:45am
still b/p:

I've had the beginning of Kung Fu Fighting stuck in my head for weeks. Oh-whoa-ho-hohhhhh...
Even if we could trade earworms, like industrial carbon credits, not sure I'd swap mine for Soft and Dri.
  11:56am
fishmonkeystew:

Thanks, Raf! Sweet site.
  11:59am
fishmonkeystew:

Hey Raf! I found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again.
