Rev. Lowery rockin' the mic, Steinski on the wheels of steel.

Fri. 2/20/09 3:58pm From: C

and it sounded like she was singing it in a rollerskating rink or carnival or something

Fri. 2/20/09 3:59pm From: Kramer

Sounds like the weasel that wants to eat foghorn leghorn

Fri. 2/20/09 3:59pm From: Cecile

She was probably singing it in jail herself.
To one of her multiple personalities.

Fri. 2/20/09 4:00pm From: Marshall Stacks

This is great - Sounds like Daedelus

Fri. 2/20/09 4:27pm From: north guinea hills

i do believe the rupture's bassline is from skream, one of the skreamism 12" i have....

Fri. 2/20/09 4:29pm From: north guinea hills

...but rupture's and andy's twist on it makes a wee little more punkrock(dare i say), then the original dubstep template....

Fri. 2/20/09 4:34pm From: BSI

dammit, this Snooks Eaglin version of St.James Infirmary Blues is even groovier than Cab Calloway's classic version...... great stuff....

Fri. 2/20/09 4:47pm From: JCityJensen

nice set - you got some Beastles?

Fri. 2/20/09 4:48pm From: 1mckers

>Ecce jocko homo

hoo-ya!

Fri. 2/20/09 5:04pm From: Ike

There are lots of K-Rocks but none are as bad as the New York one, as I understand it. The one in L.A. is KROQ, I think, right? I don't know if it still exists.

There are rumors that CBS is blowing up NY K-Rock and turning it top-40 soon.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:06pm From: JCityJensen

whats the goal for the marathon?

Fri. 2/20/09 5:09pm From: LewisI

I will be in for my House pledge esp given the need. Looking forward to the carnival

Fri. 2/20/09 5:18pm From: 1mckers

you can hear that "da bone" crap out here WBON from Westhampton. Those Westhampton guys could snap whathizname with their pooches' necks

Fri. 2/20/09 5:21pm From: Jon Solomon

KROQ still exists. According to their web site, they are "world famous."

http://www.kroq.com/

Fri. 2/20/09 5:23pm From: Art Smass

JSol: they are world famous in LA.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:25pm From: Parq

Ike, how could one K-Rock be better or worse than another? Don't they all use the same pre-recorded mike breaks and nationally distributed playlists?

Fri. 2/20/09 5:25pm From: Ike

Apparently they were once actually deserving of being "world famous", y'know, like WOXY or the old WHFS, but now? I doubt it. It's probably all Incubus and Nickelback and Disturbed and old STP over and over.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:25pm From: Kramer

Samhain? Since you are going all melodic and campfire tunes on us, how about 'Dead Spot" by Dead Spot.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:27pm From: annie..

ok, ok... really have to relax now... and this just isn't doing it, although it's all great in the right context.. i can dig it.. but i must leave now... i lasted this long.. but it IS a good day for bananafish

Fri. 2/20/09 5:31pm From: Ike

Parq, I could be wrong, but apparently the sell-out corporate radio program directors vary, and they're particularly musically conservative and panicky in NY. Some radio professionals actually argue that commercial rock radio doesn't work in NY b/c NY "just isn't a rock town," but if the stations didn't suck so bad, maybe somebody would listen. Rock radio shouldn't be insanely repetitive.

I say put Mike in control of K-Rock. Its ratings can't really get any lower anyway. Why the hell not?

Fri. 2/20/09 5:33pm From: Tristram in Brooklyn

Ok I'm listening to Kenny G's show from 2/18/2009, and think I have a vague idea what the whole "Corn Weenie" thing is.... But I'm still not too sure...

Fri. 2/20/09 5:37pm From: Tristram in Brooklyn

.....sorry Mike,,,!

Fri. 2/20/09 5:37pm From: Parq

[I say put Mike in control of K-Rock.] I'm totally with you on that. Ever notice how all these commercial stations and major non-profit stations whine that they would love to achieve what FMU does in terms of audience support, but then insist in the very next breath that they could never do any of the things that FMU does to achieve those results in the first place?

Let 'em keep digging their graves, I say. I gave up commercial radio decades ago, and chucked NPR last year.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:38pm From: Marshall Stacks

Wow, what a segue!

Amphetamine > The First Cut is the Deepest
RftT > Cat Stevens

A thing of genius.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:45pm From: Art Smass

Is that her pet chimp in the background?

Fri. 2/20/09 5:46pm From: Marshall Stacks

Verily, she is harshing my mellow.

Fri. 2/20/09 5:50pm From: Tristram in Brooklyn

....so it was Ken?

Fri. 2/20/09 5:57pm From: Leon Trotsky

This sounds like the Cheer Squad from my alma mater, Communist Martyrs High School.
