Live performance by Jonathan Kane & February (David Bicknell: guitar; Jon Crider: guitar; Jonathan Kane: drums; Peg Simone: guitar; Adam Wills: bass) (Listen to this set: Pop-up)

Percussion powerhouse Jonathan Kane has been involved with so many musical ventures it's hard to list them all in one small space. Starting out with the likes of The Swans and Rhys Chatham, Kane's latest venture, Jet Ear Party, puts him in the frontman seat. As described on Jonathan's myspace page, "...he's powering guitar-driven minimalism into the blues, and the blues into guitar-driven harmonic maximalism." Jonathan Kane and February landed the Jet Ear Party in WFMU's Love Room to play live.

wfmu archive question:

please pardon this random question: 4+ week old wfmu archieves r only playable through RealPlayer - RealPlayer is OK with me - but i usually stream wfmu from my pc, to my AppleTV, and out my home stereo - is there anyway to route 4+ week old archieves to iTunes?
  3:29pm
Carmichael:

Good afternoon Irene and listeners.
  3:30pm
Parq:

Re archive Q, there may be someone hanging out on this playlist who can answer, but I would suggest that the questioner use the "stream help" link on the FMU home page, click on "notify the Steam Team" and email them the Q directly. I've posed questions to the ST in the past and always gotten prompt and helpful answers.

?:

RE: the Real Audio > iTunes question - if you're a mac household, get thyself Rogue Amoebas "Audio Hijack Pro" - its only 32 bucks. Allows for scheduled stream rips, etc. You wont be able to stream the 4+ archives, but you can play them, and convert em to something you can use on the apple tv.
  4:06pm

Hugh:

Hi Irene!
Just to let the audience know, these guy are a road hazard!
Lightning Bolt was on Brian's show one day, and all of a sudden I became like T. Cruise in Top Gun! I was on the parkway, in rush hour, they were doing a set, and I don't know what came over me! I had to crank the volume full blast, and I made it from rt 46 xit 153, to xit 117 in less than 1/2 hr! What a TRIP, (and I don't
mean Pallin!)
  4:42pm
walter:

JK is making my day. Rock on!
  4:45pm

incredible:

may be finest hour of music ever on wfmu - certainly top 5
  5:40pm
Parq:

Not for nothing, but Irene's own efforts deserve a little more praise, too. For the set just ending, she wove together sounds that complimented the Kane-Feb music perfectly. Not to overdo the hosanas, but dang, this has been a great show.
  5:49pm
Carmichael:

Here here! Thanks for my increase in productivity here at work.
  5:54pm
rob w:

Agreed Parq - not to mention the fact that Irene does all this and engineers the live music herself!
  6:59pm
Sonya:
