Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 19, 2009 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Live set by Skullflower (Listen to this set: Pop-up)
Skullflower  Live in the WFMU Studios   Favoriting Engineered by Trent Wolbe    Skullflower emerged in the 1980s as a guitar-based spawning of the UK industrial/noise underground of the that included Whitehouse as well as the Broken Flag label scene of which Skullflower's members were also a part. Matthew Bower discontinued the influential unit in the late 90's to continue on with such psychedelicized noise projects as Total, Sunroof, and the Hototogisu (the last two having performed on Brian's show over the years). Skullflower's reemergence in the last few years with different collaborators have found their music as wrecked and amazing as ever, and Bower joined by Samantha Davies and Lee 'Culver' Stokoe will be playing live at WFMU on the heels of their gig at the No Fun Festival on May 17th (at the Music Hall of Williamsburg). More info here.    2:04:54 (Pop-up)
Liquorball w/ Steve Mackay  Live at Grady's side B   Favoriting Evolutionary Squalor  Rocketship    *   2:49:37 (Pop-up)
