  11:09pm
rachel jensen:

ohhh btw how long will you be in spain?? just wondering,,
  11:10pm
Sybil:

Good evening all!
  11:12pm
G:

Jeez, I'd completely forgotten that Teacup tune since it was on top 40 AM radio originally... I'd moved to England in Dec 1971 and must have heard it there...
  11:12pm
Joe:

Cyclone 60 is playing Arlene's grocery on my birthday.

In other news, I now know what I'll be doing on my birthday.
  11:12pm
Sybil:

Spain? What's this?

I've had a schedule which required me to get up at 5 AM this past semester... so I've been mostly half-asleep during the show. But I remember reading something about Spain in comments last time. Details?
  11:13pm
Sybil:

Hmm, now to figure out when Joe's birthday is...
  11:13pm
G:

Hey Sybil, maybe it's that Primavera event mentioned on the station's home page...
  11:14pm
Joe:

that information is on a strictly need-to-rock basis.
  11:14pm
Sybil:

Oh, you think I can read?
  11:15pm
G:

My bad :-P
  11:15pm
Joe:

Great Ramones song? Or the greatest Ramones song?
  11:15pm
john:

Hey Evan! Nice to see underappreciated Ramones gems pulled out of the vault!
  11:17pm
Deaconlight:

Ok now you're really getting into vintage Deaconlight territoriy with I'm Affected.
  11:18pm

  11:21pm
efd:

Rachel, if anything happens to my house while I'm away you're the #1 suspect!

Hi everyone, glad you're enjoying the Ramones! DD, that's why I never listen to your show - so I can't be accused of stealing from it! ;)

Sybil, yes, I'm going over for the Primavera fest and a little extra sightseeing.
  11:22pm
Deaconlight:

Aw this is one of my favorite Ramones pop songs! Road to Runi in such a fave album
  11:23pm
confused:

gotcha syb, maybe we fmu listeners pick up styles pretty fast ...
  11:25pm
Neal Adams:

Hi Evan! "I Don't Care"...best lyrics ever!!!
  11:26pm
efd:

  11:26pm
Deaconlight:

Another great song. I am gonna play some Ramones tomorrow - don't know if I'll repeat any of yours of nor. Your show is so awesome. First time I heard your show it was like you'd raided my playlists but then I realized - WOW - it's not just me that knows all this cool music!!
  11:27pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

When a band that has a better sound than The Ramones comes along, WFMU will surely be there to play them. Happy birthday, Joey, wherever you are!
  11:29pm
pseu:

is that NEAL? Hi Neal! and of course, hello to our illustrious host, EFD. Excellent as always!
  11:31pm
efd:

  11:32pm
aharon:

And how are we meant to do the work that needs doing at 11:30 on a Tuesday night when this aural glory is playing?
  11:33pm
Deaconlight:

Evan - have you seen http://wildmooseparty.com lately?
  11:33pm
Neal Adams:

Hi Pseu, long time no talk to! Just sitting here diggin' the EFD show...sounds great, just needs a little Joe King Carasco (JK)....
  11:34pm
E.L.:

I love this song!
  11:34pm
efd:

Neal, careful what you wish for - you'd be surprised at what's in my record bag!

Or maybe you wouldn't be.
  11:34pm
john:

Aharon--personally, I'm watching two games, dumping crappy relief pitchers, and staring at the cover of a book I need to read, so it's clearly possible to have a productive evening.
  11:36pm
Sybil:

john has me beat by one book cover and a couple of crappy relief pitchers.
  11:37pm
Sybil:

Joe King Carasco... mmmmmmm....
  11:37pm
john:

Sybil, if you're interested in Chris Ray or Joe Beimel, I'll pay for delivery.
  11:37pm
rachel jensen:

  11:42pm
gabe:

  11:43pm
efd:

Joe, that's your cue...
  11:44pm
Joe:

Yo La Tengo!

It's the break from "Saturday Night Live" by The Lordz of Brooklyn. Which, in turn, is a sample from the opening guitar line from The Guess Who's "American Woman"

I'm just gonna copy that somewhere and hang onto it.
  11:46pm
Aharon:

John, you win this round! With an assist from Sybil.
  11:46pm
coalhard:

birthday wishes out to pete townshend too--64 today!!
  11:48pm
Sybil:

I'm way overdue for a Yoyo mention, so here goes:

Drinking advice, from Julian Tavarez:

Don't drink beer. Beer makes you fat. Hard Alcohol just passes through you. Johnny Walker yes, beer no.

(It must work! Yoyo says so!)
  11:50pm
rachel jensen:

  11:51pm

  11:51pm
pseu:

  11:53pm
efd:

i've been carying that JKC record back and forth for MONTHS! that worked out perfectly.

  11:58pm
Sybil:

Oh EFD, you know that past performance is no guarantee of future results.
  11:58pm
Neal Adams:

Why you, I oughta......
  12:02am
Aharon:

  12:16am
deaconlight:

  12:20am
efd:

btw DD, to answer your earlier question about the web site - I was checking it out a few days ago and it looks great! But I can't really talk about that here.
  12:22am
Joe:

I would've gone! But I was sick. Also I'm probably not cool enough.
  12:22am
coalhard:

  12:24am
Social Security:

  12:26am

http://www.elwp.com/Joe%20Cocker.html
  12:27am
efd:

Joe, I forgot, I was reading about your illness on Facebook, How are you feeling?
  12:29am
Amanda:

Huh whuh? Someone mention the Demands in here? I was working the door for that show, mostly bored that no one I knew deigned to show up. But it was a lot of fun. Wore on super late. Lot of sick girls there who'd caught strep throat off Joe.
  12:31am
Joe:

You know, the internet is a funny thing, because now that I'm finally coherent again, I keep talking to people who are like, "Oh yeah, I heard you're sick." And I'm momentarily baffled. How could they know? I haven't spoken to another human in days! Then I remember - I'm a compulsive Facebook user.

But I finally kicked it today, thanks for asking! Just in time!
  12:33am
Joe:

That was hilarious! What the hell was that?
  12:33am
coalhard:

next efd show--falls on hank williams jr birthday--wear sunglasses!!!
  12:35am
efd:

thanks for the tip, coalhard - i just got new sunglasses, too!

Joe, i guess your eyes have not recovered to the point where they can shift their gaze slightly to the left? or is it a scrolling problem?
  12:37am
Sybil:

A Camp!

Amazon was just trying to get me to download one of theirs...
  12:38am
E.L.:

Let's ask Martin Short what that was.

(Sorry Joe. I couldn't resist)
  12:39am
efd:

Amazon might be on to something!

They were here earlier tonight recording their session for Trent's show.

(E.L. - good one!)
  12:40am
Joe:

I... um... your... face. Your face has a scrolling problem!

I'm still on medicine.
  12:48am
coalhard:

on sept 22 3009---your show will air that day---same day toni basil born--she could dance!!
  12:49am
coalhard:

meant 2009
  12:49am
E.L.:

Joe, in all seriousness, get better.

There's a fancy and pompous restaurant in Providence that doesn't put salt and pepper on the table because the food is "perfectly seasoned." A friend of mine once snuck salt and pepper shakers into the restaurant and when his entree arrived, he stood up, removed the salt and pepper from his coat pocket and shook it all over his meal.

The waitress actually screamed.

So to answer your question: yes, Providence is a ridiculous place.
  12:50am
Sybil:

coalhard, I can hardly wait!
  12:51am
Amanda:

Wow, E.L., I have been to that pompous restaurant! So *that's* why I couldn't wear my Tabasco T-shirt there.
  12:52am
Joe:

That's the greatest story ever.
  12:53am
efd:

I agree with E.L. And not just on the point about Providence being ridiculous.
  12:55am
G:

My recollection is that Newport is even worse.
  12:56am
Sybil:

Yes, Joe, I join in the wish that you recover speedily and completely.
  12:56am
Peter Griffin:

Quahog's not so bad, though. Try the Drunken Clam.
  1:01am
E.L.:

Oh if you guys like that story you should come visit. That's nothing. Our politicians and townies are even more preposterous. There are a few good bars though.

Yes, Newport is like Providence if it won the Power Ball and blew all it's money on fifty yachts.
  1:02am
Amanda:

"Bruit" means "Noise," I'm pretty sure. You proounced it fine.
  1:02am
Amanda:

n
  1:02am
E.L.:

I meant "its." *sigh*
  1:04am
Amanda:

It's just so late at night to be typing.
  1:04am
E.L.:

Yes it's is.
  1:05am
Joe:

halbah shoblogn?
  1:09am
Sybil:

I, that is,... what?

Man, I can't wait until this semester is over. And I can keep normal hours again.
  1:10am
Jessica:

k, I was gonna claim "too crispity toasty to type" but I think I'll instead just say "What Joe said." Hi, tho!
  1:11am
Sybil:

Anyone can type, any old time, easy...
  1:15am
Sybil:

I think "aspic tines" is my new favorite band name.
  1:16am
Joe:

props on reppin the Aceyalone album, Davies - just got that a few days ago and its dooooooope
  1:18am
efd:

hey, Jessica! i was thinking of you when I saw E.L.'s "it's is" comment.

Sybil, I'm surprised that Aspic Tines album hasn't gotten more attention!
  1:23am
Joe:

Maybe everyone else is -lame-.
  1:25am
Liner Notes:

Aspic Tine is the musical Andromeda Strain?
  1:31am
john:

Whoa, that was SO Shop Assistants-ish, with a sprinkling of Talulah Gosh. And yes, that's a huge compliment.
  1:33am
Danne D:

Howdy all you funkaroos out there!
  1:35am
efd:

hey Danne D! I was just thinking I haven't done a fantasy baseball update in a couple of weeks - and we've got three managers here, at least! although i'm not sure if the third of the three is still here.
  1:38am
Danne D:

yeah :) it's been a fun season so far. Though I still can't figure out how when I think my team's had a lousy night I move up and when I think they've had a good night they move down. I see you've begun your march up the standings btw.
  1:42am
Joe:

briːkoʊˈlɑːʒ

No, I don't know what that sounds like.
  1:44am
Danne D:

yay me :)
btw, Evan's totally going to go all Mine That Bird and come off the pace to win this thing!
  1:45am
john:

Bree-coh-lazh. More or less "DIY." Knew that French major would come in handy one distant day.
  1:49am
efd:

thanks John! and also Joe.

Danne, your confidence is inspiring and hopefully not misplaced.
  1:50am
Danne D:

no problem efd :) I'd just like to get first play for one day before it all falls apart!
  1:57am
Joe:

Cynthia Santaglia is a very nice lady! Even to really, really drunk people.

Just thought I'd get that out there. Great show, EFD.
  2:46am
?:

totally spelled her name wrong.
  11:07am
efd:

I wouldn't say "totally" - you only got one letter wrong.
  11:10am
Calzone!:
