Listener comments!

  3:08pm
Joe Steele:

"Enjoy the show" would be the proper line.
  3:08pm
Ike:

Perhaps despite their name, Pains of Being Pure at Heart has actually put out some really impeccable (studio) songs. But when they played live on another station, I wasn't nearly so impressed.
  3:10pm
Joe Steele:

¿Que hora es?
  3:10pm
still b/p:

Circular Open Air Urinals = good lyric phrase.
  3:10pm
C:

  3:11pm
PMD:

So I guess the balloon thing with the cigarettes is to get young kids to smoke at an early age?
  3:11pm
Liz B.:

Lineup for 3-6pm NYC time: Wooden Shjips, Dead Meadow, Ponytail, and Crystal Stilts.
  3:11pm
Time Zones:

Barcelona is 6 hours ahead of NYC at all times.
  3:13pm
What!:

This makes me so happy.
  3:14pm
Liz B.:

It's 9pm here in Barcelona and the sun is just starting to set.

  3:30pm
chirs:

  3:30pm
Janet H:

<----on the left you spelled "Wooden Shjips" wrong.....thats ok b/c i'm bad at spelling too!
  3:31pm
Yucko the Clown:

Phil Spector better stock up on soap on a rope. <HONK HONK>
  3:32pm
Ken:

  3:36pm

  3:43pm
zzzzzzzzzzz:

  3:44pm
Joe Stjeele:

I think the sets are taped and Ken is live.
  3:44pm
Laurie:

I didn't know Andy Breckman knew how to make comments on the internet!
  3:45pm
Ken:

Watch it mister z, or I'll turn down your fucking IP number.
  3:45pm
Hey Joe:

Yep, Joejoe. Give that man a see-gar.
  3:45pm
don was:

i think the music is live and ken is a tape
  3:46pm
Ken:

Yes, this was taped early this morning / last night.
  3:46pm
Joe Stjeele:

I think Ken is broadcasting from the basement in Jersey City with picutres of Spain surrounding him.
  3:47pm
Liz B.:

The sets are almost live... there are like 7 stages here, so we're sending out drones with recorders to capture all of the magic and then we regurgitate it over the air within a few hours. Yesterday was busy so there are a few sets left to air.
  3:47pm
Janet H:

Will any of the music tonight be live?
  3:47pm
channeling Ken:

I am not a Tape. I... am... a... Human...

OK, on second thought, scratch that.
  3:48pm
Janet H:

Ken is at home now...haha
  3:49pm
zzzz:

im sorry ken, ill behave
  3:49pm
Liz B.:

It is impossible to broadcast the sets completely live... we only have internet in one spot and we are nowhere near any of the soundboards or stages. We would love to, but alas technology won't permit a telepathic signal upload.
  3:51pm
Joe Stjeele:

I imagine the bunch of them in a rubber life raft just off in the Mediterranian with a big antenna and a laptop.
  3:52pm
Ken:

Thanks, z.
  3:55pm
Lizardner Dave:

I wonder what Larry thinks of the festival. Keep doing a good show.
  3:56pm
What!:

Man, that flanger has no off switch. Not complaining, just sayin...
  3:57pm
z:

they could be floating on that Jagermeister inflatable
  3:58pm
still b/p:

If only Stardust could get there from his marvelously equipped observatory on his private star and offer some tech help for live sets with his powers and tubular spacials and accelerated supersolar lightwaves.
  3:58pm
Hmm...:

That would be *Plastic* Shjips, z.
  4:00pm
z:

yeah what, that flange is set to 11
  4:00pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  4:01pm
Carmichael:

Perfect timing. Wooden Shjips!
  4:02pm
Joe Stjeele:

Stardust could just send out a recording ray and take care of all of it.

And it anyone trips over the power chord, he could hurl them to Mercury where the Mercurian walking sharks would devour them.
  4:04pm
demer:

hey bill.....hope u r havin a good trip!
  4:08pm
z:

wheres the picture of andy breckman passed out in the front row with an empty bottle of jagermeister and a joint hangin from his mouth
  4:10pm
John from Oslo:

Ken is in Madrid
http://tinyurl.com/mzhkdq
  4:11pm
Carjmichael:

Andy couldn't make the trip, so he's emulating that effect on his living room floor.
  4:12pm
Carjmichael:

Closer to the mic, Liz!
  4:14pm
Janet H:

i like the technical noise
  4:15pm
Joe Steele:

I just saw they HAD Stardust t-shirts on a Fletcher Hanks website.
  4:15pm
Janet H:

Liz B, I shop in the children section of Target too!
  4:17pm
still b/p:

Stardust T-shirts! I'd like posters of selected strip panels.
  4:19pm
Janet H:

John from Oslo, that pict is great!
  4:19pm
Joe Steele:

I'm noticing all his main characters look oddly the same. http://www.fletcherhanks.com/HOME.html
  4:20pm
Nick From Deerfield Beach Fl.:

Much better today then yesterday. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
  4:21pm
John from Oslo:

Hey - the stream is great now!

Thanks Janet - I had to mirror his head, but nobody will notice : )
  4:23pm
Ike:

Nice sounds. Agreed w/Nick. Internet behaving today.

Ever had a job where you're told to use a new piece of software, and the software DOES NOT WORK? And it gives you a headache? Today = FAIL!
  4:23pm
Janet H:

John from Oslo, You're right no one will notice...i mirror his head all the time.....and no one said anything!
  4:26pm
John from Oslo:

Janet; Exploding frogs and mirroring heads, typical leisure activities in Oslo
  4:27pm
John from Oslo:

Dead Meadow live - GREAT! thanks wfmu
  4:28pm
Ike:

Maybe my workplace's lame-ass new software should be called Exploding Frogs. I'm so frazzled that I'm drinking decaf tea. Dead Meadow is helping too. Thanks.
  4:30pm
still b/p:

Checking the Hanks site, a link there for one of the comics brought a warning of an attack site! The Fifth Column up to their tricks!
  4:32pm
Janet H:

Ike, What software are you using or trying to use?
  4:34pm
Ken:

Y'all spoke to soon! Vodaphon acting up again...
  4:35pm
Janet H:

I'm glad I found WFMU....or it found me.....either or i'm happy!!
  4:36pm
Ike:

Janet, it is called Keyword Country and it is of Satan. Who knows -- maybe the same dillweeds are also behind Vodafone.
  4:36pm
jeff_m:

the good ship WFMU is glad to have you Janet
  4:38pm
doug from dc:

Alright, just tuned in to the fest, in time for a (former) DC band.
  4:39pm
John from Oslo:

Powerful you have become, the Vodafon side I sense in you.
-- Yoda
  4:39pm
jeff_m:

yeah was surprised to hear them say they were from LA and not DC
  4:43pm
Dead Carmichael:

Is that what you were talking about earlier, Ike? Keyword Country? It sounds like some new-fangled OCR conversion software.
  4:44pm
Billy Jam:

sounding good guys - am in Dublin, Ireland where it is one hour behind Barcelona but 5 hours ahead of New Jersey - but still bright here at 9:43pm -
  4:45pm
still b/p:

Isn't Keyword Country a musical genre that Irwin favors?
  4:46pm
Janet H:

it's 3:46pm here...
  4:47pm
Carmichael:

Billy! How's that public house by the hotel on Eden Quay? Are they still rockin"? Good to hear (read: "see") your voice.
  4:47pm
Bad Ronald:

Hey Billz!
  4:48pm
LizGig:

Billy Jam. Hello from north Tipp! Where it is also still bright at 9.47pm _and_ warm!
  4:48pm
Parq:

I was more or less on the same page as b/p - I was thinking that Keyword Country was some sort of software that helped you search for Keith Urban mp3s.
  4:49pm
doug from dc:

Keyword Country is an SEO (satanic employment opportunity) application.
  4:50pm
Ike:

Hey there Billy!

Carmichael, it's nothing so advanced as OCR conversion. Just some slow-ass Internet advertising bullshit that doesn't !@#%&ng work half the time.
  4:50pm
Billy Jam:

that house is doing good...am by the canal now - like a Pogues song......what up Bad Ronald! - hey LizGig - greetings - great weather in Ireland -next Friday in this time slot it will be Put the needle on the Record - live from Belfast.....hey Jeff Mullan,
  4:51pm
jeff_m:

Evening sir!
  4:55pm
Ike:

Doug from DC: HA! Nice one.

SEO, sure, except that it ain't optimizing SHIT. It is actually so lame that I have a PEN and PAPER and when I'm lucky enough to see some results then I WRITE THEM DOWN because I won't be able to get back to them! OK, enough about me. How's the food in Barcelona? Good paella? What's tasty in Dublin, Billy? Lots of vindaloo?
  4:56pm
Janet H:

Speaking of Ken in the basement earlier.... he was probably also whittling away on his adorable balsa squirrels......
  4:57pm
jeff_m:

its actually the same set the faked the moon landing on
  4:57pm
LizGig:

Billy Jam, looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was ill when you were in Limerick, so I didn't get down, but at least I tuned in! I was really interested by the rappers from Shannon. Looking forward to the Belfast show and the alt culture it throws up during parade season.
  4:57pm
Ken:

Hi Billy!
  4:58pm
doug from dc:

How's the Estrella Damm in Barcelona?
  4:59pm
Billy Jam:

fish n chips on the menu tongiht, Ike.....from Burdocks....oh and Manchester UTD. fans getting all aggro at any Bareclona football fans they can locate here in this Fair City
  5:02pm
Billy Jam:

hi Ken - sounds like you, Scott, Liz, Trent, Brian etc. are all having a blast. WIsh I could have hopped on a Ryan Air flight over there......Yeah LizGig should be good up in Belfast - falling on election day and all - so far we have some turntalbists - graff artists - b-boys and Jinx Lennon and more lined up.....
  5:04pm
LizGig:

Jinx Lennon! Don't know whether to love or hate him. Saw him at the Electric Picnic a few years back. I'll definitely be at my laptop next Friday evening.
  5:10pm
Billy Jam:

yeah that is how many I talk to here in Eire feel - I love him....He is playing at Sugar Club in Dublin on Thursday - along with Paula Flynn + Captain Moonlight - am looking forward to attending. THanks fpr supporting WFMU Liz GIg!
  5:12pm
LizGig:

My pleasure! Though it's kind of weird that a north Jersey station is producing some of the most interesting Irish radio.
  5:16pm
Carmichael:

Ike, you don't know how close you are when you talk about "good" Irish food. My wife puts the boots to me all the time about that, and she's Danish. Go figure. She ate pork chops at some upscale joint near the Gresham and laid up ill for 2 days.
  5:25pm
Parq:

Carm, my neighborhood Irish bar, one of the few in the City that isn't cookie-cutter, little-people's-disease stuff, makes pork chops so well that I think of them as the definitive version. And they were one of the first bars in the US to serve Smithwick's.
  5:28pm
Carmichael:

Nicely done, Dead Meadow! I'm converted.
  5:32pm
watchpocket:

Anyone who's made it to Barcelona, before you come back, don't deny youself a quick trip over to the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. You won't regret it.
  5:44pm
watchpocekt:

I spent 3 fantastic years on those islands smoking red moroccan hasish and ingesting the best acid and psilocybin in all of western europe. Sometiems I would find myself walking down the Ramblas without knowing how I got there.
  6:01pm
Laurie:

I have a crush on Molly.
  6:12pm
Scott:

This Ponytail set is amazing!
  6:15pm
wow:

wow!
  6:37pm
Thomas:

Will any of the Primavera sets be archived? (please god yes)
  6:39pm
Liz B.:

Most of the sets will be archived. Some bands did not give us permission to do so, though, so we will need to edit/post them later.
  6:45pm
Thomas:

Awesome. Thanks Liz.
  6:47pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Just tuned in a few minutes ago. I REALLY like Crystal Stilts and had never - to my knowledge - heard them before. This is great stuff!
  7:01pm
Parq:

Yeah, I like Crys Stilts the best of so far today.
  7:02pm
~L:

Thank you WFMU/WMFU for broadcasting this event! It sounds great. Even the people who attend can't hear everything. So I'm extremely thankful for all you've broadcast. And it's not just the Margaritas talking!
  7:21pm
bw:

it all sounds amazing - wish I was there too! love the pictures and the audio - !!!
  7:29pm
Salat:

Hey, I hope you guys were able to dodge the rubber bullets from the celebration/riots when you landed on Wednesday.
  1:17pm
Paul Karasik:

Yup...Crazy Fletcher Hanks t-shirts at my website,,,but there are not many left:

www.fletcherhanks.com
I will be talking to Benjamin on Monday morning about the NEW Fletcher Hanks book debuting at MoCCA next Friday!
