Listener comments!

  12:02pm dc pat:

perfect start STONGER THAN DIRT!!
  12:04pm Cecile:

YEAH. this show is stronger than dirt.
  12:05pm dc pat:

Dean Carter! Why oh why don't I have this album??
  12:07pm Joe (not Belock):

Anyone with a spare Mummies ticket should totally hook a brother up.
  12:08pm Parq:

A cheesy laundry detergent commercial from the 60s yields a garage-rock catchphrase that endures for 40 years. Who knew?
  12:12pm dj:

just tuned in .. and ... I AM AMAZED!!! good stuff !
  12:13pm dc pat:

dang, didn't even know they got back together.
  12:17pm Carmichael:

Ya, Joe! I dig this psych rock crunch stuff.
  12:19pm Cecile:

hey, Joe, did you hear that cococoma track on Jason's show, that was some vicious new-school arty garage punk there.
  12:25pm Jex:

but your "after-thought" commentary is priceless!
  12:29pm dc pat:

Cecile's right, totally rippin
  12:35pm Death Wish Jesus:

Mommy!!!!
  12:40pm Cecile:

I've been surprised how well Supergrass and Ash have progressed. I thought they were going to be flash in the pans, but they've done well.
12:40pm dan in falls church VA:

>Supergrass Rebel In You Diamond Hoo Ha Astralwerks

I like Supergrass!
  12:43pm Cecile:

I like them, too! I was complimenting them.
12:46pm dan in falls church VA:

Supergrass followed by Superchunk! Super, man!
  12:47pm matteo:

yo, i like dolly rocker movement, great show, ciao
  12:50pm Fido:

It's got a good beat, I can dance to it, and it can become popular with the record buying public. Arf!
  12:56pm Spankyflop:

Does anyone know when the Birds of Avalon album is coming out? They're touring soon.
  12:58pm G:

http://www.birdsofavalon.com/blog/

free mp3 already available as download
  1:01pm EAS:

I rawk.
  1:06pm Cecile:

could you play the Lime Spiders' Slave girl?
  1:08pm Carmichael:

Although I'm not currently listening, thanks Joe for playing Neil Innes.
  1:11pm Joe (not Belock):

THERMALS!
  1:13pm annie:

i like this thermals thing..
  1:14pm Cecile:

this is the happiest song about being dead I've heard in a long time.
  1:19pm Bad Ronald:

Faces and Macca in one serving, thanks Joe!
  1:20pm PMD:

Wow, almost thought this was Rod Stewart. Odd.
  1:20pm Carmichael:

It almost is.
  1:22pm PMD:

lol! boy, I should look up my groups before commenting here. totally showing off my lack of knowledge.
  1:24pm dc pat:

this version kind of makes you realize that Paul M is a better singer than Rod. Not that it's a bad version, mind you...
  1:24pm Cecile:

Rod at his best.

Geraint Watkins! I saw him play with Dave Edmunds. Great player.
  1:26pm Cecile:

I can't see Macca doing Miss Judie's Farm or Around The Plinth as well as Rod.
  1:29pm Cecile:

okay, Jay Bennett wasn't on that track, but I still want to heard Wilco's Casino Queen.
  1:36pm Rubble:

thanks Joe! Faces rule.
  1:37pm dc pat:

oh, yeah, just got my X ticket. You gotta check out Billy Zoom.
  1:38pm Marshall Stacks:

... so does X. Fits my mood perfectly.
Thanks, Joe.
  1:41pm annie:

lou reed, got any hanging around?
  1:43pm Bad Ronald:

Yeah, like "Kill Your Sons".
  1:44pm lydia:

Yes, Lou Reed! thanks,Joe
  1:46pm detroitdave:

hey Joe! WOW looks like you were rippin it up while I was at lunch.....(gotta stop eating on Tuesdays). Keep it pumpin!
  1:50pm Lydia:

"rip tide" or "dime store mystery" maybe
from lou reed?
  1:51pm Carmichael:

I've liked Billy Zoom since wayyy back when he 1st started with them. He just oozes talent, even when he's just standing there.
  1:52pm dc pat:

...and smiling like a lunatic
  1:52pm Carmichael:

Anything from Rock N Roll Animal or Lou Reed Live is a no-lose proposition.
  1:53pm dc pat:

I'm in more of a Geraldine Fibbers mood now...
  1:53pm annie and everyone else..:

:))
  1:54pm G:

Yet another Belock magic moment. You're so consistent on the tunage selections week in, week out...
  1:54pm ibn:

no offense, and i'm willing to take the hits here, i really don't want to sound like an idiot, but i've never gotten lou reed. VU, yes, but never lou reed solo. sorry.
  1:56pm annie:

he's not for everyone, i guess ibn.
  1:57pm G:

thanks for sharing, though :-P
  1:57pm dc pat:

oh yea, that's what I wanted, Wayne the Train!
  1:58pm GP:

Woo hoo...Texas swing...you got me dancin Joe B.!
  2:00pm still b/p:

I like Lou, but when I saw him, late 70's, it was among the least interesting stage performances I've ever seen or heard.
  2:01pm Reed Richards:

Lou Reed is like any other artist from the 60s still going - Iggy, Neil Young, McCartney, you name it ... Will still make some worthwhile music but will never top his 60s output. Nowhere to go unfortunately but down. Dont get me wrong - tons of great music, but their 60s work will NEVER be topped. Just the way it goes as a legend!
  2:03pm dc pat:

uh oh, here we go..
  2:05pm Ben Grimm:

"New York" was pretty damn good!
  2:06pm Joe (not Belock):

I dunno, I like "Memory Almost Full" way more than "Revolver"

Just kidding, that would be terrible.
  2:07pm Carmichael:

I did not care for Metal Machine Music.
  2:08pm ibn:

l. reed is like an impostor of some sort, i just can't figure out exactly how. His stuff is almost too calculated to expand on the 'lou reed theme' to be really interesting. and I think the VU sound owes more to cale, morrison and mo tucker. Reed is overrated.
  2:09pm Joe:

That's a bold statement, Mr. Carmichael.
  2:14pm Cynthia:

Joe not belock, Memory Almost Full is a damn good record.
No reason to compare!
Just enjoy!
  2:15pm Bad Ronald:

"Only Mama Knows" is a fantastic track!
  2:18pm Joe (not Belock):

I love that record! I picked it as to try to sound plausible. If I had picked "Off The Ground", for example...
  2:48pm cynthia:

I hear ya, Joe not belock. :)
  2:53pm Rubble:

Super Joe today Joe, thanks!
  2:54pm Cecile:

I made a potato chip bowl out of Street Hassle when I was 18. It really wasn't that bad, but I hated it when I was 18.
It did make a good potato chip bowl.
  2:55pm Carmichael:

Sorry, Joe. Just my impression. Having said that, I think Rock N Roll Animal is one of the best f-ing records ever made.
  2:58pm Carmichael:

Cecile, there's a guy in Philly who will make a bowl out of any album you want. My Kinks "Soap Opera" album is the talk of the office.

  11:00am Shall Bid:

The GEMAGE riff is simple-cute ...a little lizzy with The Stranlers thrown in...good Rock voice and subtle harmonies ( The Story So Far ) and the song is quality....what happens to talent ?.where does it go?...and how come they didn't follow this up ?
  11:02am shall bid:

GEMAGE.....i meant THE STRANGLERS !....i gotta sober up !
