I like the story behind the "Like This" title, so maybe they could incorporate a title that has an interesting story to it.

Wed. 6/10/09 4:39pm From: Marshall Stacks

I carry a TV-B-Gone (see "Empowerment at the click of a button" at the top of the page) much of the time, and using it has taught me a lot about TV and its hold over people. I recommend it highly.

Wed. 6/10/09 4:41pm From: Dead Corporate Eyes

Wed. 6/10/09 4:58pm From: G

Cop tasers Granny

Wed. 6/10/09 4:59pm From: Lizardner Dave

You know while I agree with the TV B-Gone in principle, in reality the simple answer is don't go to a bar that has a TV if you don't want to deal with it. I've been on both sides of the fence - sometimes you want to watch a game in a bar because of the fun atmosphere, and sometimes you just want to talk. Pick the venue appropriate to your desire and no purchase is necessary.

Hmmm, that's probably far too reasonable an approach for our time, isn't it?

Wed. 6/10/09 5:00pm From: Larry Fine

I was there, I said - "Don't eat the brown acid you facocta shnooks"!

Wed. 6/10/09 5:01pm From: Billy West

Larry's right, you know.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:02pm From: Dave B in NYC

Amanda is the best.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:03pm From: Cecile

That would be nice in theory, Lizardner Dave.
Except the latest trend where I live is to put TVs everywhere...

Wed. 6/10/09 5:05pm From: Marshall Stacks

I use it rarely. The first time, I was in a restaurant with live music -- and the staff had put on the TV, too. So the poor guitarist was struggling to hold his audience.

Shazam... TV-B-Gone!

No one asked to have it turned back on.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:06pm From: Cecile

Yes, I see using it as a precise surgical tool only when absolutely neccessary...

Wed. 6/10/09 5:08pm From: Spence

I'll show you my best recipeeeeeeeeeeees

Wed. 6/10/09 5:12pm From: Gumbercules

Billy West? I love that guy!

Wed. 6/10/09 5:20pm From: Lizardner Dave

Actually, I'd like a version of TV-B-Gone that could be used to lower jukeboxes, bands and DJs in some places. Not turn off, just lower so you don't wind up with a blazing headache and a sore throat from trying to have a conversation.

Of course, if you're at a music-dedicated venue you should keep your mouth shut but they haven't made a remote control for humans. Yet.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:22pm From: Cecile

that sounds pretty good to me, LD.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:25pm From: Marshall Stacks

How about Cellphone-B-Gone?

Wed. 6/10/09 5:25pm From: Ike

Yeah, LD, great idea -- I need one of those for a great Lebanese restaurant in Clifton with an annoying singing DJ. He's a VERY LOUD one-man band.

I love that Metric song except that some of the lyrics are weirdly childish and annoying and get stuck in my head all day.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:26pm From: G

Muzak B Gone. natch.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:27pm From: Irwin

Ike, you started me on that Metric album. Your legacy.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:29pm From: Writers

He's right, actually.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:30pm From: Ike

I know. Now I'm owning up to the lyrical earworm that I spread. The goofiness of "Who would you rather be, the Beatles of the Rolling Stones?" (or maybe that should be double-quotation-marked) echoes in my head all day so hopefully it won't also echo in everybody else's.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:32pm From: Cake and Pie

Honey, we aint so bad either.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:32pm From: Cookies

She's right, actually.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:33pm From: Ike

Oops, that's "or." Not "of."

Ellison sometimes reminds me of Amy Goodman: Making good points, but too strident, or maybe even astringent, for heavy consumption.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:34pm From: cosmic

cheers bad ronald, yeah, long time! started a business so ive been busi-nesskeep the amanda comin irwin!

Wed. 6/10/09 5:34pm From: Cookies

We're for heavy consumption.

Wed. 6/10/09 5:34pm From: Lizardner Dave

Wed. 6/10/09 5:52pm From: Lizardner Dave

I'd like to hear Amanda mixed over this calypso record. It sounds great in my head.
