ghedalia tazartes! man, best radio show ever! first time i'm listening to it and i'm freaking out! wow! greetings from madrid (spain)

Tue. 6/23/09 9:26am From: annie

welcome to the wild world of wfmu!!

Tue. 6/23/09 9:26am From: Parq

Forgive me for being the last to know this, but I just found out that there is a mainstream cover of "Opfer Dieses Liedes" out there - the song that was all over FMU last year, the one where the European girl shrieks that she never dreamed that she'd meet anybody like you. I heard this version - Chris Isaak, I gather - in the supermarket last night and laughed uncontrollably all through the produce and meat aisle.

Tue. 6/23/09 9:28am From: annie

what a great image parq.... were you able to drive home?

Tue. 6/23/09 9:30am From: jason

yeah that is great parq, you're lucky to've held out this long...i used to really hate that song cuz of chris isaak, but now i like it thanks to maria, scott w and toher wfmu djs who showd me the light

Tue. 6/23/09 9:32am From: Parq

Annie, it's across the street from my building - city guy, y'know? Yeah, Jase, that's what I just looked up to remember the name. What's up with the '09 h&m videos?

Tue. 6/23/09 9:33am From: north guinea hills

you know, i've never heard palais schaumburg before. considering the impressive lineup they had. thanks!

Tue. 6/23/09 9:33am From: annie

city-slickers... hehe

Tue. 6/23/09 9:36am From: north guinea hills

Tue. 6/23/09 9:39am From: jason

glad you liked that track, north guinea hills! they're from LA, and they're coming to NY for a wfmu-sponsored cumbia night at the bell house! http://verybecareful.com/

Tue. 6/23/09 9:41am From: north guinea hills

!gracias!

Tue. 6/23/09 9:49am From: still b/p

Some kinda schedule snafu cancelled the Sir Richard Bishop local appearance I expected to see last week. And just now I was out of the room when his track played. Sir Slippery.

Tue. 6/23/09 9:53am From: Cecile

morning all!

Tue. 6/23/09 9:54am From: annie

Tue. 6/23/09 9:57am From: Cecile

Tue. 6/23/09 10:00am From: north guinea hills

a band named after a principality..., interesting....

Tue. 6/23/09 10:00am From: PMD

Hi all. Thanks mucho for the music Jason...

Tue. 6/23/09 10:04am From: Cecile

This US Maple is somehow reminding me of Bon era AC DC - if it were from Jupiter or something. Coolness.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:06am From: doug from dc

Hope all commenters from DC are OK.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:08am From: stingy d

wahdat

Tue. 6/23/09 10:09am From: jason

actuallycecile, the disc itself has a modified van halen logo. what's happening in dc doug?

Tue. 6/23/09 10:09am From: Parq

Me too, Doug. Man, life is arbitrary. Untold thousands of people have ridden one or both of those two lines in the past several months, and had perfectly ordinary trips. When your number's up . . .

Tue. 6/23/09 10:10am From: Cecile

what happened in dc, doug? Heavy weather

Hahahahahha jason.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:10am From: Bad Ronald

Train wreck.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:11am From: Cecile

oh, dear. Oh, dear.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:12am From: doug from dc

Literal train wreck, on the Metro Rail, nine dead, seventy injured. Fortunately, most of the people I know who take the red line live at the other end of it.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:12am From: dc pat

luckily, I ride a bike. sucks, this crap hardly ever happens but this one is the worst.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:14am From: stingy d

hey jason, can't help but ask, but... don't suppose you listened to any of that there set of cd's didya?

Tue. 6/23/09 10:16am From: jason

i did stingy! dug the lee hazelwood set

Tue. 6/23/09 10:17am From: stingy d

cool, you definitely had me thinkin... so i'm gonna make it more crispier.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:18am From: Cecile

that's terrible, doug. Rail is really safe, but no vehicle is accident proof. Awwww

Tue. 6/23/09 10:21am From: Parq

That's the irony, 'Cile. Untold thousands of people who are afraid to fly will now be afraid to go by train, heedless of the automobile's grotesque safety record.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:22am From: Cecile

I know, I know.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:25am From: north guinea hills

I find it nearly impossible to find ghedalia tazartes music anywhere in nyc. i suppose i'll break down and get the mp3s.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:25am From: rf

zu it's a italian band

Tue. 6/23/09 10:26am From: pauladepipersdaughterpostingpedagogicpassion

great music. thx. listening out of south east ireland, prepping for a job interview, a creative job fortunately enough. whats song in background. thx
paula

Tue. 6/23/09 10:28am From: dc pat

the funny thing about jets/metro vs cars is that people feel safer if they're in control. I know I do too

Tue. 6/23/09 10:29am From: doug from dc

The odd thing is that I usually drive, but my car was in the shop, so this was one of the rare commutes where I took the subway. But I'm on a different line, and didn't find out until I got home.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:30am From: jason

background loop for that last mic break was faust's "just a second (starts like that)

Tue. 6/23/09 10:31am From: 14K Gold Slum Computer Wizard

xin chao from hanoi, wfmu!

Tue. 6/23/09 10:33am From: pauladepipersdaughterplayfullyprosaic

Tue. 6/23/09 10:33am From: jason

Tue. 6/23/09 10:36am From: annie

Tue. 6/23/09 10:37am From: stingy d

Tue. 6/23/09 10:42am From: Cecile

lmao. Rod Strickland. I haven't thought about that dude in years.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:45am From: Dan

Hey Jason, the guys are packed in a van heading back to L.A., but wanted to thank you, FMU, and NYC for the hospitality. Always a great time! (and a GREAT engineering job as well). Best regards, Dan.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:46am From: jason

Tue. 6/23/09 10:48am From: Dan

Still filling in dates, but definitely happening Sept/Oct. Looks like mainland in Sept/UK in Oct. I'll send you the schedule when firm.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:51am From: Cecile

I liked the first Ratt album. So sue me.

You UA guys are fan-Frippin'-tastic

Tue. 6/23/09 10:54am From: Dan

Sorry Jason, sarcasm is cheap in the UA world. Thanks for the compliment Cecile.

Tue. 6/23/09 10:58am From: Cecile

you are welcome. i love how you arranged Lonely Woman.

Tue. 6/23/09 11:03am From: Dan

Thanks again Jason. I have to sign off, but really enjoyed your show. Best to you and your listeners. Hope to see you on the next swing through the NE.

Tue. 6/23/09 11:15am From: Cecile

Are you going to play some more black metal? Please! Please!

Tue. 6/23/09 11:22am From: Cecile

Tue. 6/23/09 11:35am From: anyone to everyone

mr. sigal ALWAYS has good sets. ALWAYS.

Tue. 6/23/09 11:40am From: WalMart

Legal tells us that's a trademark violation, dude. Wow, so we can own part of the language? That is soooooo cool!

Tue. 6/23/09 11:57am From: Cecile

holy crap, that is a wild promo photo
