i've activated the "listener comments" aspect to the playlist, but don't expect much participation from your host. due to the means by which i assemble the show (basically, completely on the fly), i'd rather focus on what song to play next, rather than how to reply to which comments. but y'all have fun with it!

Parq:

Don't worry abut participating, Bob. We'll take it from here. Nicely gothic opening today, btw.
  9:15am
Cecile:

  9:16am
BSI:

  9:20am
Cecile:

carrot cake? wha-?
  9:22am
Cecile:

knocking it out of the park, Bob.
  9:26am
bobw:

this is a first for me - the comments thing. and, yeah, i f-ed up the pic early on. tried to get that photo up, but not quite like that. it's of a guy's tatoo that features jesus as a hockey goalie. the text - "jesus saves."
  9:28am
Bad Ronald:

Esposito scores on the rebound!
  9:29am
Chris:

Kick save and a beauty! Let us pray.
  9:32am
Parq:

Oh Lord, we thank Thee, for in Thy infinite mercy, Thou hast allowed us to blow those fucks from Toronto right off the ice, in Thy name.
  9:34am
Cecile:

Thou has provided us with seafood to lob at the bastages who challenge our Red Wings
  9:35am
annie:

woohoo!! i see it now!!
  9:38am
paul s:

  9:38am
Cecile:

Now I know safranin has two good bands - Ceremony and Screen Vinyl Image...
  9:41am
bobw:

yow! fellow hockey hedz reprayzant, colllllise! paul, you've got to bone up on your red wings history if you're moving to mo-town.
  9:43am
Gerry Cheevers:

Crease be unto you.
  9:47am
bobw:

no coffee pot at wfmu this morning!!! i had to make coffee with a colander! i will not be deprived my coffee!
  9:49am
BSI:

Desperate times call for desperate coffee.
I recall driving across the country in the middle of winter & surviving on instant coffee+hot water from highway rest-stops, shaken in a thermos. That was 19 years ago and I'm still picking crap outta my teeth.

..........but it works, yeh?
  9:49am
Parq:

You little Martha Stewart, you! PS - see? The comment field is hard to resist, isn't it?
  9:49am
BSI:

correction: not hot water, mostly creepy warm-ish water.
  9:52am
bobw:

it's sometimes challenging enough to just pop the discs in and punch the buttons.
  9:57am
BSI:

and yet the machine coffee in the middle of Missouri seemed like an even worse idea..... travel is a deadly game. And no carrot cake.
  9:58am
AnAnonymousParty:

My first boss was an ex-marine gunnery sergeant, if there was no coffee made he'd just put a generous pinch of Folger's, right out of the can, 'between his cheek and gum' to get him going until a pot was ready.
  10:07am
Listener Dave from NH:

I grew up not too far from Newark. I can't say that I ever heard anyone pronounce it "Nurk" but I imagine that that's how someone from Baltimore might pronounce it.
  10:07am
annie:

i love my french press, but will always be able to resort to cowboy coffee,
  10:10am
Cecile:

you mean Balmer, LDfNH?
  10:11am
annie:

see cecile i was just gonna let that go... i always say balmer..
  10:14am
Listener Dave from NH:

Yeah. As my friend who transplanted from dirty Jersey to Maryland explained it to me, "It doesn't sound right unless you swallow a few letters."
I'm not from there so I don't want to get busted faking the accent.
  10:26am
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

I was born in Irvington and I pronounce it "Nork."
  10:27am
Carmichael:

Good morning Bob and fellow listeners of Bob. I got a big ol' cherry pie on the credenza outside my office door.
  10:27am
bobw:

speaking of dover and coffee, i had some super strong, tasty french press brew at a b&b in northwood, n.h. this weekend. the joint was built in 1771. i was expecting some ghosts. and re: the "nerk" thing - that's how the path conductor pronounced it this morning. i mean this merning.
  10:28am
annie:

i picked up the balmer thing when i took amtrak all the time down there.. i blame the ticket taker.
  10:35am
Listener Dave from NH:

Keen - Northwood's about a half hour from where I live up here. Hope you made it out to Bear Brook while you were up here (especially if you're a mountain biker).
I grew up in Maplewood and took NJ Transit bunches - how did I never hear anyone pronounce it like that?
  10:39am
Trapper:

We have a Culture of Commentary
  10:40am
Trapper:

There's a PATH conductor who says it 'New-Rick' which sounds very folksy to me.
  10:42am
dei xhrist:

I was in a hotel in Baltimore and heard a TV huckster who sounded exactly like the one John Waters was mimicking in Pink Flamingos. Swallowing the letters causes your voice to come out of your front nasal cavities, and you have to hold your tongue juuust raaaht.
  10:47am
bobw:

bear brook?! hayyyl no! i was staying on jenness pond! i also got wet at rye on the rocks. it was the warmest (and waviest) water that i've ever experienced in the atlantic north of the cape! i could stay in for more than 30 seconds! i lived on lexington street in dovah when i was at UNH.
  10:56am
Listener Dave from NH:

It's so nice having ponds and lakes up here. Having grown up in Superfund Country, I still find it kind of disconcerting that I can just roll up to a pond and slide on in for a swim and not have to worry about being consigned to a starring role in a Troma film.
Someone named a band after a nuke plant in N'Hampsha? That's bananas.
  11:03am
bobw:

the water in jenness pond is so clean that it supports leaches. wait - that doesn't sound right. i don't know what's behind naming your band after seabrook. "three mile island" - ok. "vermont yankee" - cool. "pilgrim station unit 1" - that has a ring to it. but seabrook?
  11:04am
stingy d:

hi erybody. lets eat pie!
  11:05am
Carmichael:

I'll bet there's a band called Tennessee Valley Authority.
  11:06am
still b/p:

dei - what'd you think of Frantasia? I was there just Friday night...with the opening act so confoundingly unexpected it was kind of a kick to talk about.
  11:06am
dei x:

sounds badassss
  11:07am
Cecile:

what kind of pie, stinge?
  11:13am
dei x:

oh, THAT guy... with his own TV and bassed up vocal mic... well, we were all interlopers there so it kinda works. Saturday was mostly really good (self plug!), because of Id m Theft Able, Skinny Vinny, qfwfq duo etc. There was also a sing/songer who sang like the extreme pitch experiments.
  11:13am
Carmichael:

Right outside the office door. Come on over. We'll talk.
  11:15am
stingy d:

i was thinking strawberry rhubarb, because that's what i'm always thinking. but any kind of berry is what's up right now i'd say. have some coffee. and damn fine pie.
  11:17am
Listener Dave from NH:

Thankfully, the pond where I swim in regularly is leech-free. I've been in a dozen or so lakes and ponds and haven't gotten a leech on me yet, which is good because that'd be the last time I went swimming. Even when I see a fish out there, I start digging like I'm in "Jaws" (and I'm wearing a wetsuit most of the time).
  11:19am
still b/p:

What does id m theft able do other than what made up his brief cameo contribution on Friday? I recognized his name from FMU, but couldn't recall material I'd heard.
  11:25am
dei x:

don't forget the threat of ducks.. really puts a bit more fear in to skinny dipping... Id does vocal stylings with a crapload of soundmakers. He was bouncing a ball and screaming as it fell, making smaller noises as he used a violin bow on a license plate and strumming rake tines - definitely a strong visual aspect. For a lesson in the worst possible graphic design possible (on purpose) go to kraag.org/id
  11:32am
still b/p:

Actually, I see id is right up here living/performing at my elbow, so local listings are where I've caught his name as well. By the nice description, sorry to miss Saturday. 'At's whut we go fer. I'll check him 'round town. You performed in addition to repping your boxes?
  11:39am
dei x:

yep, I'm in Birdorgan. And like every other traditional band, the female is the vocalist. I also did a bit dressed up as the drag version of the Joker, and preached about the holy value of "taking matters in to your own hands".
  11:44am
GP:

AAP..late to the comments, that "raw" coffee trick is hardcore, but I must say that I have tried it, yeah I have indeed.....talk about still picking grit out of ones teeth.
  11:46am
Parq:

Those people know perfectly well that park goers can see them. It's called exhibitionism. One more reason that hotel was a bad choice for the Highline, aside from the fact that it's butt-ugly and intrusive.
  11:47am
still b/p:

Rats. Oh, what we miss. Like that Robert Frost poem, The Frantasia Not Taken. I'll watch for Birdorgan.
  11:50am
anna:

Nice DJ set! Making Wednesday morning much more enjoyable. Muchas gracias.
  11:51am
AnAnonymousParty:

@GP, Heh, that guy was a Marine's marine, according to him, picking the grit out was for pussies -you might find yourself someplace where there ain't even any coffee, and you'd kill for a piece of that grit to chew on.
  11:52am
dei x:

Don't feel too bad, I slept through the Cave Bears feeding their new found karaoke deer head and repeating beyond ad nauseum while everyone else cleaned up around them!
  11:52am
BSI:

bleh!
My diggage of this show got hijacked by ofc. meeting..... now I'm back with a mere 8 minutes to catch up on my diggage-diggin'.

looks like good stuff, boss.
  11:54am
GP:

AAP.. LoL ...great image that.

BSI, I know the feeling, at least I got a 15 minutes in.
  11:56am
bobw:

oh - i used a coffee filter in the spag. strainer! what do you think i am, some kind of barbarian?!?
  11:58am
Parq:

"Coffee Filter In the Spagetti Strainer" would be a good title for Bob's autobiography.
  11:59am
Cecile:

Hey that's the principle behind those filter drip pots.
  11:59am
dei x:

"or, The Wet Willy of Industry"
  11:59am
still b/p:

Great show.
  12:06pm
bobw:

yow! thanks everybody for making my debut comments show fun and not too distracting! thanks for tuning in and typing up!
  12:12pm
rebba:

this is the first time i've listened to this radio station and it is wonderful! there is nothing on the air like this in manchester, uk
