Listener comments!

  12:04pm Parq:

The Kneejerk track is everything garage is supposed to be.
  12:06pm Lou Fancy:

off to a good start!
  12:10pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Hello from the 4th Floor, Joe!
  12:23pm Pete Puma:

Oh... three or four!
  12:35pm Carmichael:

Hey Joe, just got out of a meeting. I heard the Nips last night and thought of you! Do have any of them around, like Gabriella or Have A Nice Day?
  12:36pm Taylor:

Does WFMU have Weird Paul Petroskey's "Lo Fidelity Hi Anxiety"? "Not of This World" is pretty classy
  12:40pm Carmichael:

And happy birthday to Elvis Costello.
  1:21pm C:

Was Robert Pollard also singing on the Cosmos song?
  1:22pm Cecile:

Yes
  1:27pm Cecile:

I'm assuming that Boston Spaceships are playing in town and nothing happened to either Pollard or Keene?
  1:36pm DBish:

Shrimp or plate of shrimp, Joe
  1:36pm DBish:

it's the cosmic unconsciousness, Joe
  1:36pm Carmichael:

Sounds like Poco.
  1:37pm DBish:

its the cosmic unconsciousness, Joe
  1:38pm Jumpy:

Jim Basnight did a gig with Larry, too. Larry was also on a lot oof Johnny Rivers stuff.
  1:38pm RZ:

nice segueway!
  1:39pm ?:

Jonsey pointed out once that this song was written for the composer's dad. Made me hear it in a whole new light.
  1:39pm Carmichael:

Just don't play Popsicles, Icicles.
  1:43pm Cecile:

this is still a sleazy song, even though Joe pernice has arranged it beautifully.
  1:43pm PMD:

Nice music!
  1:43pm Parq:

Years ago, I was briefly in a college marching band, and one of the numbers in its repertoire was that Bread "Everything" song. To this day, when I hear the chorus, I can hear the sousaphones and the bari sax (mine) pomp-pomping the bass notes.
  1:44pm Cecile:

Nice, Parq!

My favorite Bread song is that creepy one where dude sings about reading his girlfriend's diary.
  1:47pm ?:

Another great segueway!
  1:51pm Carmichael:

I'm a huge West Coast Soft Rock fan. I love that stuff in a twisted nostalgic way. That was a great Sammy Johns song back there too, Joe. Now if you could play some Lobo or Walter Egan, that would be splendid.
  1:52pm Cecile:

hahahahahaha, Lobo!
I remember reading something about a Lobo fan convention in the mid-90s. It was 5 guys sitting on someone's porch.
  1:53pm GP:

Joe,
Holly Golightly just popped into my head, is she on the schedule today?
  1:54pm GP:

Cecile,
<5 guys sitting on someone's porch> : )
Best line I've heard all day!
  1:55pm Parq:

I would like to note for the record that Lobo was on Pseu B's 2007 marathon premium, "Brit Fed-Exed the Playlist". Just sayin' . . .
  1:59pm Cecile:

nice!
  2:02pm GP:

This will work Joe...Thanks!
  2:02pm Carmichael:

No kidding? What song did he/they play?

Next you'll say England Dan and John Ford Coley were on Bryce's premium.
  2:04pm Cecile:

And Dan Fogelberg was on Fabio's
  2:06pm Carmichael:

Denis Leary once said, "If Judas Priest can be sued for making kids kill themselves, can I sue Dan Fogelberg for making me a pussy in the '70s?"
  2:11pm Jonathan Steinke:

Bare Wires and Cheap Time need to come to St. Louis and FAST. Wow.
  2:17pm Toni:

Is this Mark Arm?
  2:17pm Parq:

Carm, great line! I'm pretty sure listening to Fogelberg was to supposed to make you all warm and sensitive, like the guy in "Bridges of Madison County". But I don't think it worked out.
  2:31pm myspace.com/helltourist:

great trax!
  2:32pm GP:

That Mantles song really caught my ear...kind of a Sonics vibe going on there. Saving the info. on that one to look for it later.
  2:33pm GP:

Parq..or make you want to grow a beard.
  2:34pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I vote for the Death song. There's something delightfully fast n filthy about it.
  2:42pm Parq:

Carm, but of course. All the sensitive, warm guys of the mid-70s had beards. Went well with their checked flannel shirts.
  2:42pm listener jon:

Joe, it's my birthday too. Happy to share with Gene, Elvis C, and Mama Belock.
  3:29pm Rubble:

Happy Birthday Jon! Great show today Joe!
  12:03pm Mike C.:

Listening to yesterday's show archived now. Great stuff, Joe. Good call on the Vertebrats cover! I think Tupelo did it serious justice.
  3:08pm The Hall Monitors:

Hey Joe! Thanks for the spin!
  5:15am Hal Kee:

Hi, I wrote the song "Come Back Baby" by Jack Eden with The Sundowners. Thanks for playing it. I also wrote "Hoping" by Terry Stafford with Pat Vegas....the gentleman who ended up as the bass player of Redbone....the first rock and roll Native American group. It's so nice to run up on some of my compositions from the 60's!
Best regards,
Hal Kee
