  9:13am
PMD:

  9:18am
north guinea hills:

  9:19am
maggie:

heron!! so lovely. thank you hatchy.
  9:25am
Parq:

NGH, record/CD people and book people, more than anyone else, need to heed the Bard [sorry, Nick]; never a borrower nor a lender be.
  9:26am
efd:

I should have called that premium "20 more songs from the year Hatch was born (give or take a year)."
  9:26am
nasok:

i am surprised that the recent pajo misfits cover album has not gotten a lot of love on the woof moo.
  9:28am
north guinea hills:

I get more then 90% of my recs/books back. At least i know who posses my wayward recs/books. I've always have been my friend's media library.
  9:30am
Hatch:

Nasok, I don't think we've gotten a copy yet... hence the lack of love. It's definitely getting to be that Misfits time of year...
  9:31am
Cheri Pi:

This Tami Lynn song is outta control!
  9:37am
maggie:

she forget the tablespoon of ennui!!
  9:40am
maggie:

also (sorry i can't stop myself this morning) the hook of this jay-z song sounds like coldplay. right?
  9:41am
Hatch:

All Jay-Z sort of sounds like Coldplay nowadays...
  9:51am
Cecile:

Hatch, if your heart is in that, some Sweet or some old schoo AC/DC

DAMN, old school house!
  9:52am
Cecile:

They did a shoutout to Adonis!
  9:53am

  9:54am
nasok:

  9:55am
Cecile:

AH, it is old school house
Maybe?
Oh, this ain't Yacht, I should be ashamed as I have this.

I LOVE IT THOUGH.
  10:10am
Laurie:

Hiiiiiiiiiii Hatch.

Hatch, you didn't like that D.O.A. song?
  10:12am
Hatch:

Oh heeeeeeeeeeell no. But compared to some of the other songs on the record it's not that bad, I suppose.
  10:16am
Laurie:

Eh, my first introduction to the song was the video. I think the Harvey Keitel cameo colored how I feel about the song. Also, my hatred of T-Painful.
  10:18am
Cecile:

T-Pain did kind of redeem himself on Robot Chicken last week. But I know. Oh, how I do know.

hey, didn't Jay write a song about rappers using Auto Tune being wimps?
  10:23am
Hatch:

T-Pain has been doing that same thing for 5 years. Whereas Jay-Z has been doing that same thing for... how long now???
  10:24am
efd:

wow, thanks for the link(s) to 45 Revolutions - I hadn't heard of that book or site before, looks great!
  10:25am
Cecile:

hey, efd, how did the outrageous cherry in studio go?
  10:25am
annie:

i really have been listening, just too much going on...
  10:29am
fidel:

  10:30am
efd:

Cecile, they were great! The set sounded awesome.
  10:30am
nightshifter:

BLTs
  10:31am
Laurie:

I know why. True Blood is awesome.

Season 2 gets better. More Alexander Skarsgård, more Laffy Taffy. Meow.
  10:31am
Chris:

I'm guessing the music bed was Michael Rother?
  10:31am
annie:

is it graveyard, like 11-7?
  10:31am
Hatch:

That was La Dusseldorf, mi comandante.
  10:31am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

Well,,, from my own experience ,, like Mid12 to like 8am not so bad but like say 4pm to Mid 12 ? YUCK.... you gotta "roll with it" in summer it's a bummer though is a all I can say !
  10:32am
PMD:

I missed the question you need advice on. But re: True Blood, we all need to ingest some crap sometime.
  10:32am
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Who was the Bozo that gave Orrin Hatch a shift on WFMU?
  10:33am
Hatch:

It's 7pm-ish to 5am-ish. Ack!
  10:33am
Rob W:

We have the same feeling about True Blood... it's ridiculous but we're hooked. Definitely a guilty pleasure. The current season in which the entire town runs amok under the influence of a maenad is particularly over the top!
  10:34am
trsh:

hey hatch, you can maybe try to quickly adjust w/ some jetlag stuff - see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7414437.stm

"When food is scarce, the feeding clock overrides the master clock, keeping animals awake until they find food. "

And keep it dark when you want to sleep and maybe take some supplemental vitamin D if you'll be missing much light
  10:35am
Chris:

Ooh, close anyway.
  10:36am
annie:

i did a graveyard shift once.... i went to sleep right after work and woke around 1 or 2... and to get back in the groove, melatonin is helpful for some people.
  10:39am
Cecile:

I used to do that annie when I worked graveyards.
  10:40am
Hatch:

Yeah taking melatonin is definitely a good idea, if you're a gravedigger or an undertaker.
  10:41am
annie:

most people i know who work overnight, sleep as soon as they get home...
  10:42am
annie:

C - ;)
  10:43am
~L:

The books it's based on are even worse, but still some what addicting. Every time I finish one I say "Never again", until I find I'm reading another one. About your sleep, you'll need total quiet and darkness to sleep deeply enough during the day. So go buy an eye mask and ear plugs, pretend you are a vampire and use towels to block out all sunlight from your room.
  10:55am
trsh:

Boiling down that bbc article on circadian and feeding clocks -- fast for ~16 hrs to engage the new clock.
  10:59am
annie:

i suggest if you eat anything, make it protein; carbs will make you sleepy. those pemmican bars are great.
  11:00am
fishmonkeystew:

I always found that 3rd shift made me save cash, cuz all I did was work and sleep. Of course, I live out in the woods, without the temptations of city life to draw me out during the day.
  11:02am
Cecile:

annie, I read somewhere that carbs wake guys up, where they make women sleepy.

fms, that was pretty much my story, too.
  11:03am
annie:

i'm thinking of the crash that ensues..
  11:07am
trsh:

when the new 'clock' starts. If you were traveling to Japan, this research would suggest to begin on the plane and eat when you land. So.. begin when your shift starts? Reschedule your meals and your sleep will follow.
  11:16am
frenchee:

Nice to hear you in the daytime, Hatch. Love that Rollergirl song. GRRRRR le français!
  11:17am
Parq:

I'm kinda thinking that, if this is only one week, then you just need to ride it out. Any adjustment would take several days, and by then you're halfway done and have to re-adjust in just a few days more.

Has my browzer gone weird, or are other people seeing the comments double-spaced?
  11:20am
PMD:

Parq, you're weird.
And your browser too.
  11:21am
north guinea hills:

WTH? I like this Erykah Badu.
  11:23am
Laurie:

Oh dear, this lady needs to diaf.
  11:24am
Jonathan Steinke:

Was that Elizabeth Elijah Nikomia, by chance?
  11:24am
trsh:

So does this lady get previews of everything else her kids are potentially exposed to?
  11:24am
Hatch:

Of course you like it Guinea... it's a Madlib beat, with a Yamasuki sample. Not yer average Erykah Badu track.
  11:24am
DJ Majiq:

Lady...take a pill
  11:27am
jeanne:

Cool--keep the political agenda outa the schools
  11:28am
Hatch:

????!?!?!?!!?!
  11:29am
jeanne:

!!!##@$!!@!@SHOCKING!
  11:30am
annie:

i've seen one instance where, in the video, the children were singing songs using obama's full name and reciting some stuff about how they will help their country change. i only watched it once.. there has been such an uproar, that the speech we has gonna give next week has apparently been canceled.. we shall see.
  11:33am
angela!:

I AM LOVING THIS SHOW!! Will it be archived?? YAY!!! A!!!!!
  11:34am
?:

you can compare anything you want. you can say anything you want.....last time i checked
  11:35am
listener in SF:

What do you mean, you can't believe it's now legitimate discourse to compare the President to Hitler?People compared Bush to Hitler all the time for 8 years...
  11:36am
annie:

thank god for the truthful and informative views we can get on facebook!! <s>
  11:37am
Kyle:

Well, people made hitler comparisons in the Bush years, but not so much in "legitimate" media outlets---I think that's what Hatch is getting at.
  11:37am
north guinea hills:

Glen beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990.
  11:37am
kelly in SF:

that clip was so ridiculous, and it's terrifying to think that there's (i think?) a large group of people in this country who think that way. i mean, it can only be good for school kids to watch the nation's president giving speeches. we did when we grew up. that woman sounded psycho. these crazies are taking all of this personally and believing everything that rush limbaugh says. i'm not exactly sure how people get so stupid.
  11:38am
Hatch:

People compared Bush to Hitler on Air America, maybe. If you went on CNN and compared him to Hitler, it would not fly. When it's Obama, suddenly it's fair game.
  11:38am
jeanne:

flouride and TV
  11:38am
anna:

little hitler death panels
  11:39am
kelly in SF:

also, that woman implied that obama is trying to influence little kids. that shows that this woman doesn't even understand how things work. obama isn't requiring that school kids watch his videos....that's the school (or possibly just the teacher) setting curriculum. this degree of stupidity is honestly unbelievable to me....
  11:40am
annie:

yeah, we watched kennedy speeches all the time..i'm curious if the school represented in the video is an inner city school, what city. etc.. is it an isolated school??
  11:41am
trsh:

Re: rescheduling eating times to help adjust

I found the detail -- figure out when your new breakfast time is and fast 16hrs before that.

So for a 7pm start? New breakfast is ~6-6:30pm. You'd start that first fast at 2:30-3am.

Adjust to suit your own regular eating schedule.
  11:41am
jeanne:

Obama on the Youth Corps: "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."
  11:42am
listener in SF:

DJs blathering their politics = Hitler to my ears
  11:43am
Hatch:

Feel free to change the station, buddy. I'm not a fuckin' iPod.
  11:44am
anna:

hah! wait i'm not listening to my ipod...
  11:45am

calm as you are, Hatch. calm as you are.
  11:45am

I do believe that was the principle behind Civil Defense in the 50s and 60s

It didn't work, but that was the dream.
  11:46am
angela!:

What about ME!! I am ENJOYING the music!!!! I hope the show is archived so I can listen to it again!! I can't believe people get bent out of shape about open discourse. Crazy people suck.
  11:47am
Lou:

ah the beauty of freeform...djs can play and say what they want...why i love WFMU!
  11:47am
Hatch:

Thanks Angela. I'm enjoying the music too. It's all archived, every show!
  11:47am
kelly in SF:

good for you, hatch! i agree - i mean, if you're generous enough to show up at the station each week and play good music for us, and also spend time at home preparing, i think you have a right to do some talking. thanks for all you do for us!
  11:48am
annie:

Lou; what you said.

I LOVE THIS SET !
  11:53am
north guinea hills:

as much as i disagree w/ listener in SF's tone of rhetoric, there has been a precedent for american presidents being compared to Hitler.

thanks for keeping me awake at work, Hatch.

Though this is great music, this last one is making me nod off. Oh, maybe it's the crash from the carbs I ate earlier. Imagine that.
