Listener comments!

  12:02pm
annie:

morning scott!
  12:04pm
Carmichael:

Hi Scott & Annie.
  12:15pm
Charles:

I wonder if Animal Collective could even vote when this happened. It's great...
  12:16pm
Ike:

Bah! Grimy barefoot hippie racket! ;)
  12:17pm
dc pat:

my friends all say "what's up with Animal Collective, I don't get it.." Well, I definitely get this.
  12:19pm
scott:

Hi all! Yeah they were kidses alright. But Ike is living proof that you're never too anything to vote. dc pat, totally with you - this is the stuff that won me over to em.
  12:19pm
dc pat:

on trouble's show we had a mod vs rocker discussion. We should have a hippie vs punk talk on Scott's show...
  12:21pm
Scott:

Great idea dc pat! Let me start: they're all the same.
  12:21pm
BSI:

DCP, i crossed that aisle repeatedly during the '80s.
Being a cynical, rage-filled hippie made it easier somehow...
  12:21pm
still b/p:

Hippies vs. punktuation enforcers.
  12:23pm
Cecile:

In the hippie versus punk debate I am a filthy skinny tied New Waver.
  12:24pm
dc pat:

results of trouble's show: mocker..so are we lookin at 'puppies'?

BSI: same here, I had hair down to my ass at one point.
  12:25pm
Parq:

Me too, 'Cile. Elvis, Heads and Clash forever.
  12:28pm
Carmichael:

I've always wondered why people don't leave each other alone, so I guess that means I have the basic hippie credo.

Having said that, anyone who DOES mess with me gets a groin full of boot.

Does that make me a Pippie?
  12:28pm
miserable stupid toe:

a sacrilege!
  12:29pm
annie:

having been a teenager in the late 60s, i evolved more in to flower child , than hippie, but loved the hippie shit. and my hair was long, too, ..
  12:29pm
Ike:

Huh? I'm who what now, Scott? Hey, I always vote!

I'm half-hippie, half-punk on the inside. But not AC hippie. More of a Black Moth Super Rainbow kind of hippie.
  12:33pm
BSI:

Total mutt over here, raised on Hawkwind / Government Issue / Ultravox / Throbbing Grisle, so that would make me an Industro Pippie Waver, yeh?
  12:34pm
Cecile:

yeah, Parq. And power pop!

GI! Yeah!
  12:35pm
?:

nice segue!
  12:35pm
Carmichael:

I love Hawkwind and Joe Jackson. What happened to me?
  12:35pm
J-Mar:

If you could combine those four bands into one, now THAT would be an awesome sound.
  12:35pm
dc pat:

I'd say I'm more of a Fugs-style hippie...which is really just a punk rocker..

that got boring quick. Next topic?
  12:36pm
Carmichael:

In fact, this song has that same annoying siren as Silver Machine.
  12:38pm
annie:

ok, a twist: how did/are your parents react/ing to your lifestyle choices; did you sway from the nest? or keep the standard?
  12:39pm
Cecile:

I don't know what my parents think of me besides a diffuse feeling of great disappointment.
  12:40pm
Cecile:

And I guess I have a love/hate affair with the nest.
  12:41pm
annie:

my parents were greenwich village bums, my dad was a radical and my mom a journalist. the hippie stuff, they hated it, i think, ....we were taught the traditional way; my mom becoming more republican and my dad losing his mind in nazi conspiracy theories.
  12:42pm
annie:

right, so i was a disappointment to both, really...
  12:46pm
Cecile:

I think that getting a traditional grounding is great.
Just as long as you learn you can screw with it creatively.

Ah, so they were more 50s bohos...
  12:48pm
BSI:

egad, man!
Get thee to a mummery!
  12:51pm
annie:

oh yeah cecile... i like to cling to that memory the best, yeah a traditional grounding is good. kindof glad i had my kid when i was 30 and not 20.. what a horrible job i would have done..
  12:51pm
Cecile:

You need some ginger tea, Scott.
  12:51pm
Cecile:

Yeah, my mom had me at that age, too.
I think it helped her a little
  1:03pm
stingy d:

hey scott! you're back! cool cakes!

i had a g-u-s ginger ale yesterday. it was superfluous though, because a few hours earlier i had brushed my teeth with ginger toothpaste. so i don't know if it was good or not.
  1:06pm
Scott:

Thanks Stingy! Hey, that's a tragic tale you're telling.
  1:12pm
Ike:

That Growing live set was like being a vast alien forest quickly sprouting up out of a soothing purplish-brown mulchy soil that caresses your feet, with fruity air and ten small suns shining down. Splendid.
  1:12pm
stingy d:

i figured everyone should know. it was hard to distinguish any flavor. when you already struggling with the flavor.
  1:14pm
POWER POP:

fruity air
  1:19pm
Ike:

Citrus-scented.
  1:19pm
Cecile:

this magas song sounds like a pole dancing song for an alien lifeform with sixteen eyes and giant fangs wearing a gold lame bikini
  1:23pm
BSI:

Hey, you guys are musclin'in on my random psychedelic hallucination racket...
..................cool!
  1:27pm
POWER POP:

I'M TYPING MY BRAINS OUT OF MY PANTS!!!!!
  1:44pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

why do you want your brains out of your pants?
  1:45pm
cubicle carl:

"Run to Me" gives me goosebumps, almost as if I really had someone running to me.
  1:46pm
BigJay:

The brothers Gibb , on the edge of insanity
  1:49pm
BSI:

hey wow, usually Tom Rapp covers don't come out this groovy. I dig! Haven't heard of this comp., will have to hunt it down...
  1:50pm
Parq:

@'Cile, 1:19: I would totally love to meet her.
  1:50pm
Scott:

Hey BSI, yeah it's got some good stuff, some misses tho. Ptolemeic Terrascope had something to do with it,
  1:56pm
BSI:

Ages ago Psychic TV did a cover of Translucent Carriages. It was a nice effort, but... ecch..... I figure that one would be impossible to do well; the orig. has such distinctive vox.
  2:01pm
Cecile:

LOL. Parq! Who wouldn't?
  2:03pm
Cecile:

ah, the Cul de Sac.
I have to split for le Farmer's Market, but hope to catch the tail end of the show.
  2:23pm
Parq:

Yeah, that Costa was great. Speaking of ladies I'd love to meet ...
  2:29pm
Scott:

Gal Costa lovers, go here if you dare:
http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2006/12/gal_costas_onst.html
  2:37pm
J-Mar:

Obrigado, Scott. One of my office decorations is the cover of Gal Costa's first record. I don't think it would be such a good idea to post the cover of "India," though. (Not that I have it anyway.)
  2:41pm
Cecile:

crap, I missed the Dead C
  2:47pm
BSI:

BUTTERBEANS!
BUTTERBEANS!!!!
  2:47pm
miserable stupid camel toe:

assert(gal costa != PJ harvey)
  2:50pm
J-Mar:

Oh. My. Word. I just clicked through to the Gal Costa video posted at the FMU link. Suffice to say that I am blushing. Still. (I do have actual work I'm supposed to be doing at my job right now -- but let's just say that I'm a good multi-tasker.)
  2:51pm
miserable stupid gal costa's camel toe:

love the pulse emitter.
  2:51pm
Parq:

J-mar, should a fellow envy that guy or feel sorry for him? Mixed feelings ...
  2:52pm
Scott:

Hey miserable stupid camel toe, that's a great handle, yo. As for you assertion... hmmm, gonna have to think on that one awhile.
  2:56pm
J-Mar:

Totally, Parq. Dude looks like he really working hard to concentrate. I can just imagine what he's thinking -- "Baseball! Baseball! Baseball! Oh, wait, they're in Brasil: "Futbol! Futbol! Futbol!"
  2:57pm
Charles:

This show's been really great today.
  2:58pm
steven:

I'm gonna get even with you guys
  2:58pm
BSI:

there is no life without Kenny G.
  2:59pm
steven:

the last acts of saint fuck you, that's not Bern Portor from Maine is it?
  2:59pm
Scott:
