Thursdays 9am - Noon on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

'morning everyone

Thu. 9/17/09 9:04am From: Parq

Around the time that this movie released, I read an interview with Gary Busey. He got a message that Robbie R wanted to talk to him about a "project", and got all psyched and set up his drum kit. He was crestfallen, at least at first, to discover that RR was talking about a movie.

With Parq's comment, for a moment before I looked more squarely at the playlist, I had a funny little allusion time warp and frame-wreck ...sound tracks...Busey...Robbie R...Robby the Robot...when....which...wha..?

gladys is walking around aimlessly.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:06am From: Hillary

Yes, I was hanging out at my friend's booth wearing this year's WFMU shirt. Spindles, and other stuff. I think you asked me if the station came in out there.

you are so welcome Trouble !
your work is categorically the greatest ! it's always exactly the songs I am yearning for, you find them.
And you have the best name in the world

Thu. 9/17/09 10:43am From: fidel

rollins is on the show "sons of anarchy"! he'll do anything, it seems.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:44am From: Cecile

he's on Sons of Anarchy., a show about a biker gang I think he's some kind of cop. I didn't like the show that much. It's no The Shield.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:44am From: Cecile

Rollins probably loved the Shield and its jaundiced portrait of cops - a producer and head writer for The Shield is the creator.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:46am From: Cecile

It is awful. But Trouble, you never read Hunter S. Thompson's "The Hell's Angels" did you? They have more codes than the CIA.

Ron Perlman and Katey Sagall are great in it, though.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:46am From: dc pat

Rollins has his hands in a lot of stuff. I met him recently in the middle of Wisconsin Avenue. He seemed disturbed that we were standing in the middle of the street.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:48am From: purrvey says

95% of pussycats have nothing new to report.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:53am From: Pussycat

Well, since you asked, I was napping over there, but now I'm napping over here.

Thu. 9/17/09 10:56am From: djringfinger

nice french double, and eclectic picks. :)

Thu. 9/17/09 10:59am From: Parq

When I was a kid, it bothered me that "You and your pussycat knows" was ungrammatical. To say nothing of "knows what?"

Thu. 9/17/09 11:12am From: ShaverLake

So is this HIndi?

Thu. 9/17/09 11:14am From: dc pat

man don't you know Thai when you hear it?? ...just kiddin..

Thu. 9/17/09 11:15am From: J-Mar

Whoa, "Hey DJ" just threw me into a total high-school flashback -- in a good way, mind you.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:16am From: PKNY

OH HELL YES. "You're smoother than Dr. J, ha ha". I love me some Worlds Famous, thanks for playing!

Thu. 9/17/09 11:17am From: Jonathan Steinke

Down by law, indeeeeeeeed!!!

Thu. 9/17/09 11:19am From: Cecile

I love this song - so inclusive. I miss the early 80s for that.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:21am From: mike d

bomba estereo, i saw these guys live in studio b when they came in for robs show they were great

Thu. 9/17/09 11:21am From: annie

i'm in a mood to just blare beethoven; i do that when i'm angry or pissed off.... but i am listening to you instead... a testimony to the power of trouble!

Thu. 9/17/09 11:22am From: Cecile

aw, annie!

Thu. 9/17/09 11:23am From: love trouble.. just love her

:)

Thu. 9/17/09 11:26am From: J-Mar

I have to say, was feeling pretty down this morning, but this show is turning my frown upside-down!

Thu. 9/17/09 11:29am From: dc pat

gotta say, that's the first time in my life I actually liked that Jam tune. I nearly threw that album away when I first heard it..

Thu. 9/17/09 11:30am From: Chris

Can we hear the skipping bird loop today? Love that.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:32am From: J-Mar

Yeah, DC Pat,The Jam is one of those groups that doesn't quite hold up as well I would have thought, given my obsessive love of their music when I was in high school. But everyone once in a while, I hear one of their songs, and it's just the right thing. Like today.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:32am From: J-Mar

damn typos.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:35am From: dc pat

J-Mar: totally with you, they generally haven't aged well for me. Oh well.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:42am From: emily

thanks trouble for taking me out of my usual thursday funk.

Thu. 9/17/09 11:47am From: 55rpm

Thu. 9/17/09 11:47am From: trouble

no problem emily, thanks for being around to listen...

Thu. 9/17/09 11:54am From: Cecile

that's shocking, 55 rpm

Thu. 9/17/09 11:56am From: Jimmy Carter

Trouble, thanks!
