Listener comments!

  11:09pm
Lang:

I come for the rock, I stay for the cephalopod recommendations. Let's hear it for EFD!
  11:12pm
efd:

I am at your service.
  11:16pm
blacktooth:

I don't expect any requests to be taken immediately, but feel free to drive the hot-rock drill bit into my skull this evening.
  11:35pm
Lang:

TV is just OK radio is foreverrrrrrrrrrrr
  11:36pm
Chris:

Really loved that Das Black Milk song!
  11:43pm
cathy lane:

  11:47pm
toni daytona:

us girls are here to serve king evan!!
  11:49pm
hmmm:

*was* having a great one, to be technical...
  11:49pm
efd:

toni/cathy, I think you need to stick with one persona at a time. but thanks for the new year's wishes.
  11:51pm
AZ:

Y'know, when I posted that link on Twitter yesterday, I thought to myself "I'll bet Evan will appreciate this..."
  11:51pm
Sybil:

Happy 2010 efd and all! (Haven't had a chance to say this in comments yet.)

And Evan, I love you, but I never will serve you as King. Sorry.
  11:51pm
Sybil:

Oh dang, I missed the cephalopod recommendations.
  11:53pm
efd:

Chris, glad you liked the Das Black Milk track! Check out the site I mentioned for some downloads -also, I should have mentioned on the air that their live set on my show is in WFMU's Free Music Archive - freemusicarchive.org
  12:01am
(GN-) AZ:

I'm thinking: road trip to Iowa!
  12:21am
Danne D:

Happy New Year funk friends :)
  12:22am
AZ:

that Jacuzzi Boys track was great! Kinda reminded me of "Villiers Terrace."
  12:30am
mark:

+1 for jacuzzi boys
  12:30am
Danne D:

This Sandwitches song reminds me a lot of my friend Renee's band Elk City.
  12:31am
efd:

nuts, I have the Echo live at Royal Albert Hall CD here, and they do "Villiers Terrace" on it - I should have made that segue! (and you were right about that Map Ref link)

Hey Danne, Happy New Year to you!

Sybil, the cephalopod recommendation was actually made on Facebook, not here, so you didn't really miss it.
  12:32am
Danne D:

Kinda sorta anyway
  12:32am
richard harris:

just don't leave the ambient sad cake out in the rain. i dont think i could take that.
  12:33am
Danne D:

Thx EFD :) How many days until pitchers and catchers report? I still have my Devils to get me through the winter but am still mourning the defeat of my Bengals (though the trip out to Cincy was fun)
  12:38am
Sybil:

How many days until the 18th of February?
  12:41am
G:

19 days left in Jan. then 18 in Feb. 37ish.
  12:43am
Danne D:

That's spooky that you mentioned the marathon EFD as I just sent my way too early shift request to Scott just now :) Depending on where my life is at, I may be willing to add an EFD shift as well :)
  12:43am
Sybil:

Thx, G. I can't subtract.

37ish it is, then.
  12:45am
Danne D:

There's some MST3K vids on hulu btw :)

Oh and the entire series run of "My Mother The Car" as well.
  12:46am
G:

NP, it comes at the same speed whether you slap a number on it or not!
  12:48am
Toronto Jim:

Wow. This "Nineteen" is rather good, in a Wedding Present kind of way!
  12:50am
Toronto Jim:

Did I say "Wedding Present"? This one too!

(Here the guitars I guess, reminiscent of "George Best")
  1:20am
Toronto Jim:

I adore the Bunnymen. Rescue -- a usual opener for them. Got 'em live in Toronto September 1984 (a CFNY sumilcast recording, of exceptional true-stereo quality)
  1:22am
efd:

oh, this isn't the first track - it's about 2/3rds through, assuming the CD is sequenced in the order of the performance (and why wouldn't it be). "Going Up" is the first song.
  1:24am
Toronto Jim:

Ah. I guess I recall the Toronto '84 show, in which Rescue was first, and their recent Ocean Rain revival show -- Rescue was first then too. (First on that album is why, I guess.)
  1:25am
cathy lane:

well king evan,, as abba would say.. thank you for the music,,,i'm headed out. g'nte have a wonderfull week & keep on rockin!!
  1:25am
Toronto Jim:

Although, on afterthought, "Going Up" might be the first track on Crcodiles.
  1:29am
efd:

goodnight, cathy!
  1:33am
Danne D:

I shall take leave of the boards too :)
g'night even and funk faithful!
  1:34am
AZ:

"Rescue" didn't assume permanent Bunnymen opener status until after the Albert Hall show.

That Noble Rot version of the Albert Hall show is basically just the 2nd disc of the deluxe Ocean Rain that Rhino UK put out about 18 months ago. (Brian Kehew did a brilliant job of mixing the live stuff--did Noble Rot even bother to credit him?)
  1:41am
efd:

thanks for the info, AZ. Brian Kehew is credited, btw, along with Bill Inglot.
  10:18pm
will:

Do the Shrubs know that there is a beloved UK band from late 80s / early 90s with this exact name? Confusing, WJ
