  12:19pm
a different maria:

Thanks so much for Echo. Sounding better than ever. I also love when you play Kelley Stoltz Echo. That Over the Wall cover I put on infinite repeat.
  12:20pm
stingy d:

hey jcityj- if yr still there, i watched the snowboarding thing just now. i used to live right near that park and there is plenty of space where people are not even walking or anything liek that. no reason to shut them down. and then the park rangers speaking down to that dude. fuuucck thaaaaat...

ok soddy maria. hi, eryhing sounds good from here.
  12:40pm
Cecile:

Bah, missed Tommy Keene

I think everyone I just talked to had a big bowl of stupid for breakfast.
  12:41pm
dextrous:

Grant McLennan-Bless
  12:41pm
Cecile:

I think I can't listen to Liberty Belle as a whole album, but individual songs sound good. Maybe I'll just not buy it but request it a lot.

You know it, dext.
  12:42pm
Cecile:

OH. Maria, could you play some Cardinals? Like
"Wheel of Fortune?"
  12:47pm
bennett4senate:

whoa where am I? Fenway park? did the Red Sox just win??
...oh... I guess they play dirty water in other places too. Like London! Lets make a version of Dirty Water for every city! So it can be played at the end of all sports games!!
  12:50pm
Cecile Cloutier:

I need this Tin Huey disc. I loved their WB record.
It had a great influence on me as a teen.
  12:52pm
maria:

who did the oth vers. of dirty water?
  12:53pm
Nat:

No left channel?
  12:54pm
wendy del formaggio:

Maria, wasn't it The Standells? (Dirty Water)
  12:56pm
Glenn L:

My left channel just came back.
  12:57pm
C:

blame it on the moon
  12:58pm
wendy del formaggio:

Hi Glenn!
  1:01pm
bennett4senate:

to be clear, they play the Boston version of Dirty Water (i.e. Boston You're My Home) at Fenway when the sox win. I don't know who did that version off the top of my head. Usually followed by some rousing organ tune, or that song Sweet Caroline.
  1:02pm
Glenn L:

Hey Wendy!
  1:04pm
bennett4senate:

hahaha LOOK MOM I'M BEING HELPFUL
  1:13pm
maria:

awwwww bennett!
  1:17pm
bennett4senate:

it seems like you got all your info correct too! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Water
and my bad, they play Sweet Caroline in the middle of the 8th: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Caroline#At_sporting_events
both songs though, powerful aural connections for native Bostonians, I'm sure EFD would agree
  1:19pm
dc pat:

Dirty Water: Standells?
  1:20pm
?:

dc-- read the comments! wendy already straightened that out for us
  1:21pm
dc pat:

just about to point that bout ?. Good work Wendy.
  1:22pm
Cecile:

For winging it, it sounds good Maria.
  1:22pm
Glenn L:

What dc pat just said.
  1:23pm
Paul:

Driving me crazy this is. I recall that somebody did a version of "Dirty Water " substituting Potomac for the Charles River, but the internets won't let me prove it. Thought it was on the ":30 seconds over DC" comp, but no.
Minor Threat did a cover of "Sometimes Good Guys don't wear white" which is another Standells song.
  1:24pm
dc pat:

whoa, haven't heard a DC version of Dirty Water, Paul. Sounds like a good idea!
  1:33pm
dc pat:

speakin of DC, here's my new standard request: 9353
  1:33pm
bennett4senate:

DC version! see, were on our way to trans-continental customized sporting victory songs. Lets just take a barge along America's waterways with a little portable studio and recruit local musicians to rep their own town-by-the-river....
  1:35pm
seang:

man, this show looks awesome, tuning in now, love the Go-Betweens
  1:37pm
Cecile:

THIS IS SO DAFT.
DAFT PUNK.

I wish I had my heels on so I could vogue now.
  1:41pm
BSI:

speakin' of 9353, me too.
  1:43pm
Cecile:

I want some more flashy-trashy pop-techno.
  1:44pm
duff:

9353?! Wow, obscure DC punkpop, right? Haven't heard their demo cassette since like '85 or so! It was awesome.
  1:44pm
stingy d:

this is reminding me of how i need the insturmnetal version of that georgia ann muldrow record from a few years back.
  1:45pm
stingy d:

which reminds me - i need the 12" of "out there" by project pat real bad. if anyone gots that. let me know.
  1:48pm
maria:

Cecile me too!! if you help compile a list of songs and bands, I will try to do a show all flashy trashy pop techno. In the meantime listen to DJ Trent!
  1:52pm
Cecile:

I like Justice, Daft Punk, Benny Benassi, The Biz, of course, Basement Jaxx, Chromeo
  1:52pm
Cecile:

I will do that, Maria!
  1:53pm
Cecile:

Trentemoeller, Booka Shade, more brainy, but still groovy. And I have a soft spot for DC's own Deep Dish.
  1:54pm
stingy d:

have you heard any of that neon indian stuff? might fit in to the scheme of things you got there.
  1:55pm
Cecile:

Yes! That sounded great. I have to pick that up.
  2:03pm
stingy d:

i can't get enough of it lately. (neon indian)
  2:10pm
Cecile:

Where should I start with them, stinge?
  2:12pm
stingy d:

the full negth contains everything thats in the ep... i believe. so... if you want the music get the full length... if you want the "cool" bullshit, get the ep
  2:15pm
Cecile:

I want the most music, so the full-length
  2:21pm
stingy d:

then get georgia anne muldrow stuff. you'll be happy. especially if there are no vocals. but maybe even if there are vocals. i prefer not to hear her. but thats me.
  2:23pm
wendy del formaggio:

Ooh, now I know why Stingy D was raving about Neon Indian. This is AWESOME. Gotta get me some.
  2:24pm
stingy d:

it's all about deadbeat summer wendy!
  2:25pm
wendy del formaggio:

Is that what they call it, Stingy? That's quite an evocative description of an emotional state -- I like it.
  2:30pm
stingy d:

i'm glad you took it there. but it's just the name of a neon indian song.
  2:31pm
dc pat:

I'm back, did anybody play 9353 while I was gone? No? Hmmf... not sure it would fit in anyway. You'd have to be playing a set of singers that sound like Mr. Ed...
  2:32pm
stingy d:

listen, everybody, if i'm not around, i'm still here for you

http://www.formspring.me/aighttho
  2:33pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Stingy, while 6669 was playing, I was thinking to myself, "Hmm, this song has such a specific emotional resonance. What IS it?" Then you said, "Deadbeat Summer," and that seemed perfect. I guess I get their music...
  2:36pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh, and I'm over here entering items into the station's Arbitrary Guide and it looks like Neon Indian is playing Thursday 02/04 at NYU's Kimmel Center. Woo hoo!
  2:36pm
Cecile:

*renacting one of ball scenes from Paris is Burning in her cube*
  2:37pm
stingy d:

can anyone go to the kimmel center? i went to a show there once, but i was a backstage guest.
  2:44pm
Glenn L:

Most of the shows at Kimmel are open to the public, Stingy.
  2:44pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Stingy, it looks like anyone can get into the Kimmel Center for shows, but in some cases NYU students will have access to advance tickets and the general public won't.
  2:54pm
stingy d:

unfortunately i work 2/4
  2:55pm
Looms:

Another nice broadcast. Thanks Maria!
  12:42pm
mr bear:

play some music for plastering basement walls x
