listener mark:

Do not attempt to adjust your radio. WFMU controls the airways. This is your receipt and is NOT a ticket for travel.
  9:35am
jason:

hey sorry to hear that chris, maybe you can just boost the speed manually as it plays? what can be done about that? i had that happen to a turntable once, ended up finding a better one.
  9:38am
jason:

who fixes turntables these days? i went to radio shack for a radio antenna and they didnt have one
  9:42am
Chris:

i tried doing it manually...it got old pretty quick. I don't know what's up with the turntable. 33 rpms is fine. someone suggested putting baby powder on the rubber band thing and flip it but it still ran slow. but i really don't know how to fix it. I've had this turntable for awhile now...maybe its time to get a new one.
  9:46am
dc pat:

note to self: switch to turntable fixing career...
  9:47am
Bad Ronald:

Ahh, the tables have turned!
  9:49am

  9:57am
north guinea hills:

I have a pair of Vestax PDX-2000s (direct drive) as well of a handful of vintage phonographs. I just had to throw out an early 80s direct drive turntable b/c it finally died. I used to take old turntables from thrift stores and fix them up, replace the belts and everything.
  9:58am
Cecile:

the wombles! Jeez. That brings me back to an awesome bubblegum year in Australia in '76.
  9:58am
Chris:

WOW! - Thanks BR!
  9:59am
dc pat:

DAMN YOU NGH!!! Foiled my plans of cornering the turntable fixin' market....
  9:59am
Bad Ronald:

  10:04am
north guinea hills:

no worries dc pat, I'm much too lazy these days (and lack space for hordes of broken down turntables) to worry about fixing ye ol' gramaphones these days.
  10:12am
Sandy in Houston:

Our record store here fixes up old turntables. Don't y'all have a record store up there that provides that service?
  10:13am
dc pat:

DAMN YOU SANDY IN HOUSTON!!! My new career is just slipping through my feeble fingers!!!
  10:15am
BSI:

Orpheus Records down here (DC) used to repair 'em, I think. Then Orpheus went away, like so many brave record shops....
  10:15am
Cecile:

We have a couple of turntable repair shops in Minneapolis, too.
  10:17am
dc pat:

  10:19am
Cecile:

I like this Bacalo. It's pure fluff. Great.
  10:25am
Chris:

there is a turntable repair place here in chicago but it's so far north it might as well be in canada.
  10:51am
Chris:

anyone have any suggestions for recording audio from youtube?
  11:03am
Cecile:

There are sites where you just throw in the link in and it converts it to an MP3. Google "youtube audio converter" The quality won't be great, but you'll have the song.
  11:07am
north guinea hills:

Wow, that Alan Lomax in Haiti Box Set looks deep. I must get my grubby clutches upon it!
  11:09am

Mornin' all. I have a Technics SL-Q3 direct-drive turntable that has served me without interruption for 31 years. I just bought a new cartridge for it yesterday, so now it's time for Ye Olde Rip-fest.
