A live broadcast from WFMU's northwestern retirement outpost, Portland Oregon. Broadcasting from the Greasy Kids' Stuff home studio in Southeast Portland, Rob trades tracks as well as Portland record store, restaurant, cafe and craft brew tips with established emigres Belinda and Hova and welcomes PDX newcomer Tony Coulter back to the FMU airwaves for the first time since he hitched his wagon in July. Also joining the conversation, Portland writer VJ Beauchamp, Katie Gentile and Mike Weisberg.

Big thanks to board op Jeff Mullan!

  6:29pm Scott:

The Flintstones Theme put a big smile on my face. Thanks Rob :)
6:31pm Your DJ on behalf of Hova and Belinda:

Thanks Scott, Tony!
  6:32pm Rich:

One Saturday night many years ago, while desperately searching the radio dial for programing that didn't make me a wretch, I found Hova's Show and was hooked. Thanks Hova for your shows and leading me to WFMU and all their fine Programs and Folk.
  6:36pm Irene:

So great to hear you guys together! Peter and I are listening from NYC!
  6:39pm slugluv1313:

  6:46pm Tom:

What a nice suprise after Terry T to hear your show from Portland. Listening from SE (South Tabor) Portland. Its time for a Pabst.
  6:47pm slugluv1313:

hi Rob and Katie! hhmmm, "El Gato Malo" -- ?? does that translate to "the bad cat"?? (ha ha! now what kitty is *not* just a wee bit baaaaaaad!!!!!!) btw -- i have heard that Seattle is the "epicenter" of veganism -- but at this point, i am convinced that Portland is the place to be for all things vegan!
  7:01pm miketp:

portland have a dear connection to stump town voodoo donuts.. there are great. my 2 daughters live there. sweet little town
  7:04pm Grandpa Phil:

Hey Hova, Belinda ,and Katie
Great to hear you
all the best from Grandma Eileen and me
  7:27pm julian:

Ha ha! What a trip down memory lane! I still miss Greasy Kids Stuff and Taiyo still gets a thrill when he hears my old recordings of Hova & Belinda wishing him happy birthday and playing dinosaur and train songs for him.
Greetings from Japan to you all from Taiyo's dad!
  7:42pm duff:

Good to hear Alan Singley, a great musician. Another Portland feature: summer back yard music parties, especially in the still-thriving punk scene. -From a recent Portland resident currently exiled in Manhattan. Want to get back to Portland soon...
  7:58pm Anonymous Frequent Commenter:

Great to hear sounds from Tony C. again! This is wild.
8:01pm Your DJ on behalf of Tony Coulter:

Thanks!
  8:22pm Listener Howard:

Hey! I'm also an ex-pat from FMU's broadcast area now in Portland. Are you guys broadcasting from somewhere public?
  8:30pm Your DJ:

Hi Howard - actually we're using Belinda and Hova's home studio so no, not public on this one. I might try to do something from a public space in Portland sometime down the road. But I'm a little less ambitious in that regard than, say, Billy Jam who has been doing some amazing far-flung public remotes including just yesterday from Galway, Ireland...
  8:34pm Listener Howard again:

Ah, well, it is good to hear you on FMU again! And belated welcome to PDX!
  8:38pm Your DJ:

Thanks, it's always great to be here!
  8:44pm Robert Goodman:

I'm still hoping Belinda can identify that song about German cars that they played about a decade ago on GKS. "O Mercedes, O Messerschmidt, O Porsche...." to the tune of "O Tannenbaum".
  8:50pm Irene:

Hey what was the song that referred to the Reindeer? Couldn't figure it out from the titles.
  8:53pm Rob W:

Irene - it was the Tinklers - old Shimmydisc release...
  8:58pm Irene:

Thanks Rob! And Thanks Tony, Belinda and Hova. Miss you all on WFMU!
  9:12pm Your DJ:

The German-spoofing GKS song is from an out-of-print 1959 comedy LP by Irving Taylor, "The Garbage Collector of Beverly Hills".
