Live from Barbes: Shusmo, Zikrayat & Falu

Another action-packed evening of wall-to-wall live music from Barbes, the beloved music bar at 376 9th St (corner of 6th Ave) in Park Slope, Brooklyn!

Featuring in this order:

Shusmo's vibrant blends of jazz and Middle Eastern music

Zikrayat's artful Middle Eastern sounds inspired by the golden age of Egyptian film music
(tonight's show was the release party for Zikrayat's new cd Cinematic)

The sublime South Asian vocal stylings of Falu

Big thanks to tech director / engineer Bil Bowen - inventor of the revolutionary frame drum mic, the Pandeiro Microphone; engineers Dave Mambach and Mark Koch, assistant Katie Gentile and board op Therese Mahler.

Tonight's broadcast is dedicated to our illustrious engineer emeritus, Irene Trudel - we'll see you back in action soon Irene! And to two people to whom your DJ and our station owe a great deal as well, albeit somewhat less directly: Curly Campbell and David Freedman.

Wonderful stuff, thanks!
  8:11pm Anonymous in Essex Co.:

This is great! Was enjoying while driving around Millburn, Orange, W. Orange, etc., although I think the 91.1 signal may have deteriorated a bit recently in Millburn/S. Orange.
