Listener comments!

  11:33pm
Billy Jam:

Hi all! It is good to be back in the WFMU NJ studios after been out on the road doing a couple of live remote broadcasts from the Bay Area: Oakland's Megasonic Sound recording studios (big up Saul Goody) and San Francisco's Gallery 16 (shout out to Griff Williams). Today will be playing Part II in the 12 part new free music series, which gets its exclusive world radio premiere on WFMU each Friday: Coolzey and the Search for the Hip Hop Hearts Volume I: He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper. This week's track is "Uh Huh." And the two guests today are each legendary hip-hop figures that both have done shows on WFMU. Monica Lynch, who is on WFMU Sundays, is a legendary figure in hip-hop for her important, influential role as president of Tommy Boy Records. Meantime Steinski, who along with Double Dee, pioneered the template for hip-hop's cut-and-paste production style (and who used to do a WFMU show about a decade ago) will be doing a set similar to the one he just did on his recent European tour. And like, Monica, will be talking on the history of hip-hop and the comparisons between the old school and the current state of the genre -among other things. Should be a good show. Thanks for listening and feel free to send in your comments regarding your favorite Tommy Boy releases over the years. Also if you would like this show to visit your town to do a remote sometime let it ibe known via these comments with a specific location in mind in your town that might work (public spaces like galleries are ideal). THanks for listening.
