  12:03pm Cecile:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Joe, you will be back this fall, right? RIGHT?
  12:03pm Skirkie:

Say it ain't so, Joe.
  12:03pm Art Smass:

In honor of Helen Thomas?:
  12:03pm Frank:

What the hell?
  12:04pm Carmichael:

This was a successful sellin' rekkid.
  12:04pm Listener Jumpy:

What goes on?
  12:05pm Marshall Stacks:

I sense a theme.
  12:05pm Delta:

Just the Summer right ?
  12:05pm annie:

what!!!????
  12:05pm Parq:

I had only briefly looked over the summer sked and hadn't realized that this was a farewell performance. Oh man, just when I was looking forward to hearing your show at home for a change.
  12:06pm annie:

much too much movin and shakin goin on...
  12:06pm Carmichael:

Chuck Berry did a follow-up called "Goodbye Johnny B Goode". Just sayin' ...
  12:06pm Cecile:

I was so excited about Kamikaze, and then I did the math and then it was noooooooooooooo!

Although I adore Kamikaze on days!
  12:08pm dale:

only good song gary lewis did was the title song to 'way way out', starring his dad and connie stevens in a space station. but i guess every generation had it's producer driven boy bands.
  12:11pm annie:

yes.... tamar!! thursday looks great.. i'll have to read the schedule more closely, though... to let it soak in completely
  12:11pm Carmichael:

I preferred the Mixed Nuts, the groovy band on My Three Sons.
  12:12pm Carmichael:

The Rutles!!!!
  12:13pm dale:

i have to check that out, carmichael. tony and the tigers was another fave. or desi, skinny and tiny (i forgot their real names and am too lazy to google-fy it).
  12:14pm dc pat:

Rutles are always welcome
  12:14pm Parq:

I forget - who'd the Rutles get to play Billy Preston?
  12:14pm Carmichael:

Dino, Desi and Billy.
  12:14pm ?:

We are not happy about this. not one bit. don't go!!!
  12:15pm dc pat:

Elton John?
  12:15pm efd:

I hope this set ends with "See You In September." Or October, as the case may be. :(
  12:16pm Rubble:

How about we talk about the adjustments to the schedule that we like AFTER Joe is done today. We are really , really going to miss you Joe.
  12:18pm Parq:

No, you;re wrong, we know what we've got. As Eddie Izzard put it, "Don't go, darling. Rat-a-tat Boom and all those noises."
  12:19pm Cecile:

I love that you quoted Eddie Izzard, Parq.
  12:20pm dale:

was billy some famous person's son? the other two are obvious. no shoutouts for johnny fever from the brady bunch?
  12:22pm Carmichael:

Billy Hinsche, son of Jack Hinsche (?), who was some money guy in the rekkid business in LA.
  12:22pm Lisa:

WTF? I only just rediscovered this show. I love it. If it goes away...where will I go? What will I do?
  12:28pm ?:

Johnny Maestro! This is awesome! RIP Johnny.
  12:28pm dc pat:

ok, I missed the Who playing Leaving Here...could you play it again? you do that sometimes don't you?...
  12:28pm dale:

mckendree spring do an awesome version of down by the river, too..
  12:29pm foreign_listener_k:

Actually, I missed the Who too - just an observation, not a request.
  12:32pm Chris:

we still consider the dexateens tuscaloosans here in t-town & sure need to keep whatever musical props we can get! Roll tide!
  12:34pm dc pat:

I specifically remember Joe playing Anyway You Want It by DC5 twice in a row after Smith died--who else does that?? JoeB that's it.
  12:35pm Joe B:

look where that got me!
  12:35pm John:

Is it true you're taking off to follow Phish on their Summer tour?
Seriously, your show gets me through the slowest part of my day. Have a good Summer.
  12:36pm gumby:

Joe,
As always a rollicking good show, but I'm anxiously anticipating an upcoming guitar surf rock festival on your show. Summertime WHAHOOO!!!!
  12:37pm Jamie:

Sad news to some of you - Columbus, Ohios, Johnny Bernardo, drummer for the Barbed Wire Dolls, but more famously the Lyres, passed away this week. Go listen to some Lyres this week for JB!
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dispatch/obituary.aspx?n=john-bernardo&pid=143408954&fhid=8718
  12:39pm ?:

Gumbu,. Joe is off the schedule for the summer. No guitar surf rock festival or first sets full of summer tunes this year. WAAAAAAAH!
  12:43pm gumby:

AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!
  12:48pm SmokinJ:

Sad,sad news indeed... :(
  12:52pm dc pat:

Request: Anyway You Want It, 2x
  12:57pm Listener Jumpy:

Jim Jones sounds like Little Richard!
  12:58pm Listener Jumpy:

Not true about Gary Lewis!
  1:00pm Parq:

Once again, Jim Jones goes to 11.
  1:00pm Listener Jumpy:

"Leaving Here" is on a Who comp. WHO'S MISSING, I think.
  1:02pm Listener Jumpy:

I should reveal Joe's playing "You Can't Trust Me" made me a Bambo Kids fan.
  1:02pm Listener Jumpy:

Gary Lewis: "Little Miss Go Go," "Do the Flake," "This Diamond Ring," "Count me in."
  1:03pm Joe B:

Green Grass
  1:03pm Rubble:

Dexateens sound great!
  1:09pm newsjoe:

This is soundin' awesome! Love me some Dexateens!!!
  1:09pm dale:

sorry jumpy, didn't mean to offend - but where is gary lewis today? at least the sales kids from tony and the tigers did tin machine - i'd love to see david bowie gig with gary lewis. that would be wild, actually. or maybe gene pitney and bowie?
  1:10pm Cecile:

The Sales kids also were in the fantastic Runt with Todd Rundgren, too.
  1:16pm Bad Ronald:

Shit Joe I am pissed. Yet another reason to "Quit the World". Gonna miss you bro, thanks for all the fish!
  1:21pm Frank:

This really is a hell of a set. How did I never get around to listening to these guys before?
  1:22pm newsjoe:

are they playing somewhere in the area? I gotta see them.
  1:23pm Parq:

Ditto everybody else's praise for this Dexateens set.
  1:23pm Jared:

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!! DEXATEENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:23pm Joe B:

Their records don't do them justice - they recently had a major lineup change, and their new record is gonna be more reflective of the live saound
  1:24pm newsjoe:

Awesome, looking forward to it. Thanks Joe! And did I miss something..you're leaving?!
  1:25pm Joe B:

not my idea
  1:29pm ?:

Joe I think I speak for us all when I say you will be sorely missed and we hope you will be rescheduled in the fall!
  1:29pm newsjoe:

Ah. Well, bummer. Your show always made the afternoons workin at this warehouse alot more tolerable. Cheers man.
  1:30pm SmokinJ:

Joe: Let me say that your not being here (for the first time in my memory) will result in a bummer of a summer. Please have a great time while your away We love you..
  1:34pm newsjoe:

Oh and thanks for the Moby Grape CD!
  1:35pm Spankyflop:

Did they sign the "Free Music Archive" release??
  1:38pm Cecile:

Dude! Vern Gosdin - the voice!
  1:45pm Chris:

Aside from a job & good BBQ, Dexateens have been among the best things about leaving NY for AL. Birmingham or Tuscaloosa (only an hour apart, so who cares really), they totally represented. Great rocking set. Thanks Joe & Ernie!
  1:55pm drr:

I was stuck in Auburn, AL for a wedding once, decided to take a walk since nothing was happening downtown...walked into a house party with Immortal Lee County Killers and I think Federation X playing. Every guy in the place had a 12 pack under his arm. Those Alabama bands and fans are the best.
  1:56pm Joe B:

Immortal Lee County Killers played here on the show back in 2003. amazing
  2:01pm drr:

Anybody know what Chet Weise is doing now?
  2:04pm Seavers:

Joe- Thanks for playing The Dexateens! Rest of the set was:

Coal Mine Lung
Cardboard Hearts
Naked Ground> Dixieland Delight> Naked Ground
Makers Mound
Madelene

Will this be in the archive at some point?
  2:05pm dc pat:

holy crap this is a good cover. I'm thinking of Hot Rats in a whole new way now..
  2:05pm lou:

joe - AWESOME show today!! rock it out! go crazy on the solar marmalade! ha!
  2:08pm Joe B:

Thanks Seavers! yes, a little later this afternoon it should be up!
  2:09pm lou:

also, driving around this summer will not be the same without your show! you need to be rescheduled in the fall!! lets grab some beers soon!
  2:11pm Chris:

according to Wikipedia, Chet Weise is a prof (at Auburn?) & has a new band, Silver Lions 20/20. I met Cheetah years ago at the Continental. I had no idea he was behind ILCK.
  2:15pm Cecile:

Oh, Bobby Fuller. I miss you every day of my damn life.
  2:24pm Listener Jumpy:

Strange Fate's "Hold Me Baby" is my new fave!
  2:25pm Listener Jumpy:

Or have David Bowie revert to being a mod. No offence was taken.
  2:26pm Listener Jumpy:

Really, who cares where Gary is now? Those other guys working with Bowie is no badge of honor. Lots of bad musicians started out cool.
  2:31pm seang:

Who's goin to the Oblivians show in Kearny?
  2:33pm CheriPi:

Goodbye for now Joe B! I'll surely miss you this summer.
  2:34pm Listener Jumpy:

Tuning Out is my new fave. Who is this band??
  2:36pm dc pat:

Eddy Current is Australian and they're coming to the US like NOW. I just bagged out of going to see them in Philly next week--am I dumb?
  2:37pm Listener Jumpy:

Funny, I had a Euro live Bobby Fuller (now sold due to Norton's superior comps) and "New Orleans" was indeed listed as "Mississippi Queen" ! I thought those bootleggers got it wrong, but no, Bobby did. I apologize to European bootleggers.
I guess Leslie West, then in the Vagrants, was in the audience.
  2:38pm Listener Jumpy:

DC Pat, you are not dumb. First off, you have good enough taste in rockin' and a swell name.
  2:39pm Bad Ronald:

Good taste in drummers too...
  2:42pm dc pat:

say, thanks Jumpy and Bad Ron. I feel better now. I have to pick and choose in my situation...
  2:43pm Crazy Rhoda Zimmerman:

Joe we will not forget about you.. for one, all the bands you have on are thankful for the play and the support. I know that for a fact because I am in one of them! We look forward to your return in the fall, with truckloads of cool new music! And cool old music!
  2:45pm trent:

joe belock for life
  2:46pm Maggie:

I'm just tuning in...this is temporary, right? You'll be back?
  2:46pm dc pat:

Maggie, now THAT's a swell name...
  2:46pm Lizardner Dave:

Have a great summer Joe. Hope you're back here in the fall!
  2:47pm Joe B:

hope so.
  2:48pm Listener Jumpy:

Surfer Joe!
  2:48pm Spankyflop:

  2:50pm joe:

but have a good summer.
  2:51pm Spankyflop:

Well at least I'll save some money as most of my music purchases came from shit I heard on your show!
  2:51pm lou:

remember that green couch in keith's office? i'll miss you like that couch and the supa apple!
  2:52pm lou:

oh right ron
  2:52pm darue:

have a great summer vacation and COME BACK.

SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER.
  2:54pm Frank:

Joe, thanks for all the fantastic tunes you've played and all the support you've given over the years. You'll be missed this summer, but your return will make the fall something to actually look forward to for a change! Enjoy the summer and see you soon!
  2:54pm Czar Coffey Gus:

Almost everybody gets temporarily benched every now and then here to make room for new and returning DJs so don't be so discouraged, dudes. Besides, Diane Kamikaze will be here for ya.
  2:56pm Frank:

Diane is great, but it's not the same Gus and you know it.
  2:56pm lou:

But Three Cord Monte is just like my Mother and my Bartender!!! two great things in one. sometimes i call you my lil reese's. :(
  2:57pm SmokinJ:

Joe IS the king...
  2:58pm ?:

We're a bit discouraged Czar Coffey Gus. Lets all let WFMU know we love Joe and his program! Doesn't mean we don't love the others. We just want to show Joe that HE WILL BE MISSED! Have a good vacation Joe, and we look forward to hearing you here Joe!!
  3:00pm Rubble:

Great show Joe! Good job leaving on a high note with a great seet by the Dexateens! Have a good summer and we look forwrd to your return in the fall!
  3:02pm tk:

great shows .. hope there are more to come... will be listening to the archvives for sure... THANKS!!!
  7:15pm G:

This here's the show what hooked me on FMU originally, driving in the car on errands Tuesday afternoons. Bet it's back, come fall.
  11:30pm Lady Roxxxxit:

Even tho i can never listen to my Sweetness in real time, yr archives were theee best! This summer I'll miss u so much it'll hurt! Your show is phenomenal and if any of the DJs on WFMU achieve 1/2 of what u have done with yr slot that would be a grand achievement indeed! Long live ye... Sir Joe Belock!
  9:49am anemone:

I sure hope you return in the fall, Joe. Yours is one of my favorite shows on the station. I'll miss you. I'll pass the summer wearing my new smokin' hot Three Chord Monte t-shirt and re-listening your old shows.
  2:41pm PMD:

I'm listening to Maria's farewell and looked at the new schedule and saw the bad news. Dagnabit! And you don't sound happy. I do hope you are back.
  2:24am Iikka from Helsinki:

Been traveling, so I am listening to the show from the archives only now. What a shocker! Three Chord Monte on hiatus.. WTF? See you in fall, Joe!
  3:59pm Danny Boy:

I hope this is a temporary absence, you rock joe!
