  12:19am
max:

wait a minute, is this show stats/sally seltmann? or is the upcoming events thing wrong?
  12:23am
bennett4senate:

hey I heard that Vermont is trying to be the first place in the U.S. that is going to pass regional standards about its food, like in France

  12:28am
john:

Speed stick musk is the best deodorant ever, even with the offensive grips. It's musky scent is a hilarious day-brightener every time, and yet it actually isn't that gross. Plus, you gotta love the manly 70s brown stripes.
  12:29am
bennett4senate:

i think this packaging is pretty good: http://www.aubrey-organics.com/images/products/product%20images/175_290/deodorants/eplus_high_c.jpg Good name too

Doug:

Look at the goddam messages
  12:46am
max:

  12:50am
Gus:

a measurement of a population?
  12:50am
max:

or a "sample"
  1:12am
Doug:

A census is not a statistic, right. Statistics deal with samples, a census deals with population, the entirety.
  1:15am
max:

stats can be samples and population, i'm pretty sure
  1:23am
kate:

unexplained standard deviation!
  1:24am
Kendall!:

Student was just his pen name, it wasn't his real name. His real name was Gosset he used the name "Student" when submitting his work because he didn't want his employers to know he was making his work public.
  1:40am
stuart:

nice song
  1:41am
dave from knoxville:

That went fast. Was fun, but I didn't make any of the points I intended to, except for that basketball thing. Oh well. And as for the question above, you talk about numbers that summarize both samples and populations; with samples they are called "statistics'; with populations they are called 'parameters'.
  1:52am
stuart in nashville:

love this song, alex chilton plays this. Never heard the original. Thanks dave and sandy.
  1:53am
Nicole:

Sally Seltmann set was amazing
  1:56am
Kendall!:

She's quite a lady. Please tell her I think she is pretty, and her voice is handsome.

Also I enjoyed the math talk. I always enjoy math talk.
  2:00am
dave from knoxville:

If only WFMU had a weekly math show. Did anyone who knows math notice if I made any egregious errors?
  2:01am
stuart in nashville:

i wouldn't know I can barely get the math problem right to post a comment
  2:05am
stuart in nashville:

RELAX
  2:07am
max:

well done Dave (from Knoxville), math class would have probably been way better if I had you for a math teacher, I just wrote an exam on statistics, while I'm not that good at math I'm pretty sure everything you said checks out
  2:09am
stuart in nashville:

  2:13am
dave from knoxville:

You know, I have been interviewed by 4 people in my life, and Dave and Sandy are 2 of the best! You guys can use that as an endorsement if you like.
  2:19am

  2:26am
Nicole:

  2:27am
Nicole:

There was a tree in their master bedroom
  2:29am
dave from knoxville:

I love that Kendall said he nailed up "about two" boards; I don't think I have ever heard a reference to approximately two.
  2:30am
max:

  2:44am
max:

you guys should get the dentist who played the kid in Troll 2 on the show
  2:54am
Doug:

Thanks for another good show.
  2:58am
minnesota jeff:

max - I don't think its toll free. But lots of cell phone plans have unlimited minutes after certain times of the evening / early morning. So I am hoping mine is like that, becuase I am calling long distance.
  3:02am
max:

thanks for the info jeff, good show tonight guys
