Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from August 17, 2010 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Matt from Springfield:

Chinese Restaurants -- 7". But with 6 you get egg roll. That was bad. And yet I posted! How ya doin' Brian?

What a random mix of people in this one!

Marmalade Kitty:

dreaming of food :)
  3:10pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I love minimalist raw rock with a helping of chilli sauce and side salad
  3:11pm
BT:

Afternoon y'all.
  3:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

Yes, I myself have some Chinese leftovers...and speaking of good Asian cuisine, evidently Soreng Santi is Thai (I was surprised Wiki mentions this Iron Man cover).
@MK: have that chili sauce on some beef satay, and side salad with sesame chicken!
  3:21pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Hi Brian! Matt, sounds good :) belly yearning
  3:22pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

dudes all I got is these lousy chips stop talking about marvelous cuisine
  3:30pm
Marmalade Kitty:

yes! The set is hitting the right spot!
  3:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

Most certainly an interesting Cut Chemist mix here.
  3:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

A+ Brian! Glad you brought out Rose Royce!
  3:49pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I love it when you hear dogs barking along in songs!
  3:52pm
Marmalade Kitty:

My friend has blogged a bunch about Tonetta here: http://nonozeroblog.blogspot.com/search/label/TONETTA777
  4:05pm
Marmalade Kitty:

COOL :) I just love it! even a dog simulation!
  4:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Play on Brian, this means you're halfway there to playing The Lady AMANDA on this show! Good to know the Stinky Puffs can be an appropriate opening act.
  4:09pm
BT:

Amanda already is getting $7000 in airplay royalties this week from Irwin, I'll try to throw some the Fairs' way...
  4:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

Amazing career boost WFMU gives unsigned artists, Brian!
  4:14pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MK: the Stinky Puffs sound like another "band", Girls With Attitude, but with a healthy dose of another girl performer Amanda. Irwin has played both.
  4:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nuts, I thought Wolfgang Voigt WAS the End-of-the-World-Machine test for a moment there!
  4:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, the Stinky Puffs had quite a few releases! In fact, a reunion is warranted...
  4:35pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

can't hear shit because of the "hold" music...arrghh...
  4:36pm
Candace the Chick:

it's rock time
  4:38pm
Candace the Chick:

yes!!
  4:40pm
Stevel:

`How did that segue from Banque Allemande to Rupert Holmes work? I dunno, but it did.

God I love this station
  4:42pm
Candace the Chick:

is your rupert holmes going down a demonic spiral like mine is?
  4:44pm
Stevel:

it would seem so. Hail Satan.
  4:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Candace: I believe this is the 12" experimental release Rupert always envisioned his sound as, but the darn commercial DJs always cut him off at this point. Btw, check out the freak out at the end of "Escape" -- more like "Escape from Hell"!
  4:47pm
Candace the Chick:

the Rupe knows experimental.
  5:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

Not so ridiculous comparing the Rupe to Varg after all! Thanks for that info Brian!
  5:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Also thanks for Saint Vitus, first time I heard this "pioneering doom metal band". And yes, this was originally Sabbath.
  5:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Actually, is the Saint Vitus song the same as the Sabbath Saint Vitus Dance? It sounds like it could come from them but this may be an original.
  5:33pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Matt, you mentioned Irwin earlier.. I've never heard his show before! have to check it out :)
  5:38pm
Marmalade Kitty:

It's hard to keep up with all the good shows! so much live and archive you never catch up! Never boring!
  5:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MK: My favorite work-day diversions are on WFMU 3-6 pm: Brian on Tuesdays, Irwin on Wednesdays. Brian's specialty is listed above--Irwin's is "incorrect music". Check it out tomorrow! And of course the archives - they're half the joy of FMU!
  5:52pm
BT:

thx for listening everybody.
  5:56pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Thanks for that :) Great show! Peace x
  5:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thank you for listening with us! And thank you Brian for another great show -- peace out!
  2:38am
Patrick Kenzie:

No Stinky Puffs reunion. Simon has a new band www.gaviotasmusic.com - pretty cool.
