Yes! This is my kind of holiday music!
It's nice to hear you live instead of on the archives.
I dig-ith!

coalhard:

thanks wm. for manning the helm on this swallum day!!!

Why do you HAVE to do a tribute. You don't have to do anything, freeform radio, right? That said, when my Grandmother died, she who at the end of her life volunteered at a botanic garden, the botanic garden community did some tributes to her because that's what she was into, the botanic community. When my still living grandmother dies (she volunteers her time at a library) she is most likely going to be given some kind of tribute at the library, because that's what she is into, and that's what human beings do. But she won't be given tribute on WFMU, why should she, the WFMU community knows nothing about her. So, no, you don't have do anything you don't want to do. But to make it seem like it's silly that the music world would pay tribute to a dead musician.. well, that insults my grandma a little. Anyway, happy thanksgiving. Hope your grandmother can enjoy some more time on earth.

I mourn my OWN dead, was what I meant to say. I remember how everyone got a HUGE boner for Malcolm McLaren when he died. All this "what a loss" crap IS silly. No loss to me personally.
  12:51am
MD:

Enjoying the show as always, by the way!
  12:54am
MD:

It's not a "loss". But to fail to understand that SOME OTHERS may wish to mark the basic "change" of form that death marks for the human creature.. ah I dunno I think it's an age thing. [/back to my rocker-walker]
  12:54am
Wm.:

How CAN we go on when Sleazy's lungs have breathed their last? I think we'll manage. One more for the "band in heaven"; he can cut them up or something.

ah the unmistakeably saucy scrabblings of your castle of quiet...so refreshing

death, that life's disappointment guaranteed
  12:58am
MD:

I haven't really heard anyone moaning about how CAN we go on. I mean I've just come from a dinner where no one knew who Sleazy was. Then I turn on the radio, bully pulpit, only one voice stating his opinion, and it's this particular opinion. I suppose if I spent all day on the internet I would feel differently maybe. Ah well..

What are the 2 guys smokin'!?

i enjoyed that exchange guys, was a learning experience

I didn't spend my whole day online, either. Some kind of personal dig or something? Pop-star death affects me not one iota. HAVE I NOT MADE THIS CLEAR? I hate reunion gigs, too. Stay broken up, I say.

wm. won the debate(TECHINICAL)--case closed--NEXT
  1:17am
MD:

Yeah "pop star death" -- the maturity of these debating skills is staggering. I see not personally making a big deal about the death of a musician. What I don't get is trying so hard to be seen as being above it all. WFMU is part of a community of musicians and people interested in music, some of whom may have known Peter, etc. If this was a community of people interested in I dunno surgery and some surgeon whose work we admired had died, I think we would at least note the basic change of form that death implies... But again, I think this is an unwinnable argument between age and youth, and you youths have the floor (and are also immortal, for the moment...)

this song is bugging me out! i'd probably throw up if i was listening to it through headphones. ooof.
  1:22am
Wm.:

I'm not a youth, I'm 46. Our blog's homepage has an embedded TG video, and a notice of Sleazy's passing. Don't assail my debating skills just because you disagree. I don't get worked up when a musician whose work I enjoyed dies; YOU ARE FREE TO WANK AS YOU PLEASE.

hahah now you're just provoking the peanut gallery. getting a boner for dead musicians, who *does* that? or even a hard clit...

My last comment: while getting ready tonight we listened to at least 4 hours of WFMU and neither of the DJs mentioned Peter, which I think was completely appropriate. Why say anything? Why try so hard to look like a hardman? When again, some people listening may have known peter, I mean that's not so hard to understand with a station like WFMU. Why have a special focus on this at all. You are the only one speaking into the mic..
  1:30am
Wm.:

I am a hardman, and I HATE DEAD MUSICIAN TRIBUTES. YOU KNOW IT'S COMING. FOR SURE IT IS.
