Strange, I went to the library yesterday for a Stevie Wonder book and came home with one for him and five for Zappa, the other wonder from Lancaster.
  3:25am
jamesie:

The rug's wearing out that we walk on
Sonn it will fray 'n we'll drop
Dead into yesterday
Must the breathing pay for those who breathe in 'n don't
Breathe out

(mta) Tony:

Great show, Bill. Hi annie.
  5:18am
annie:

hey bill, i ve been a fan since the beginning!! we loved his style.. went so against the grain. even preferred him over zappa sometimes.
  5:19am
annie:

morning tony!
  5:20am
annie:

i'm so glad i woke up early this morning.. ..
  5:23am
coalhard:

this show is like a bowl of MAC and cheese-sure it's hard to wash the bowl-but tastes good going down
  5:23am
Bill Mac:

I think Zappa preferred him over himself sometimes. Might not have had the chops FZ had, but he was certainly tapped into some other vibe.... and I also wondered why it was suggested that he alienated women... anyway... glad you're all here
  5:23am
Steve:

A nice quality clip of Beefheart doing 'This Is The Day' in 1974 on BBC's "Old Grey Whistle Test" (94 MB)

  5:24am
Looms:

Thanks Bill, so do you! I have to use an exclamation point to be heard from here. The guy was talented and very genuine, it's a great loss; even if he had retired from music.
  5:27am
annie:

that's funny what you said about alienating wpmen; glad i never read the reviews when i was young. we dug him. i dug his words and games with music.
  5:29am
Bill Mac:

I would think that anyone that liked music because it was fun woulda got him you know? Long live the music is all I gotta say...
  5:31am
(mta) Tony:

annie, are you my buddy from Jersey or annie from yesterday? How are we to know you apart if you both have the same name? I think one of you should capitalize her "A". At the MTA, we go by seniority. So who's got more seniority, you or her? I think the junior annie should change her name to Annie so we know who's who.

Bill, this is a great show man. I don't have all these albums you're playing so I went to investigate prices and some are very expensive. Yea, Archives!
  5:33am
Bill Mac:

Stay away from Bluejeans and Moonbeams and 100% guaranteed.... You have been warned
  5:35am
annie:

we grew up with poetry, word games, lots of eclectic music, and pretty liberal parents.....so circumstances were on my side. tony: a thorough check of the comments archives would be the solution to the seniority issue. i am the annie from this week, as i think the other annie shows up only occasionally. the only issue i have with attaching a number or designator to my name would be getting those who know me to adjust to a new name, but it IS a thought!
  5:41am
(mta) Tony:

That's cool; I'll just treat you equally with respect without knowing to whom I'm writing. Sure sounds like you've had a very cool and lucky childhood. Since you used to know the lyrics, this must be a very special show for you, thanks to Mr. Mac.
  5:47am
Stanley:

This is truly one of the best shows we have had in recent years. One to listen to again and again. Wonder what Bill chooses to end it?
  5:48am
annie:

i am so digging this. and the next time i see my doppelganger, i'll ask her if she wants to have a differentiating symbol for ourselves. :)
  5:49am
Bill Mac:

I got one.... no brainer....
  5:50am
Stanley:

I'm gonna freak no matter!
  5:50am
coalhard:

if had to guess DON'T EAT YELLER SNOW --but just a prediction
  5:51am
Stanley:

No, no, no guessing.
  5:54am
Stanley:

Yes!
  5:58am
Bill Mac:

You folks were awesome... Thanks for coming. LONG LIVE DON!!!!
  5:58am
annie:

wonderful show mac, thanks..
  5:59am
(mta) Tony:

We all really had a nice party tonight in good memory of a legend. Thanks Bill. Goodnight all...

riburr:

Best shoes I ever herd, as the horse compared his hooves.
  1:13am
Martin:

Thanks for the Beefheart. Came to him via John Peel, being a little too young to have caught the wave the first time.
  6:30pm
Dave:

I missed what the music under you when you are speaking was. what is it? its great!
  11:17pm
Bill Mac:

As much as I dislike speaking over anything Beefheart, that song provided a nice music bed for the spaces between sets. The song is from Beefheart and the Band's last album together, called "Ice Cream for Crow", and is entitled "Semi-Multicolored Caucasian". It's my favorite of the Beefheart instrumental tracks.
