Listener comments!

  9:05am
annie:

morning jason!
  9:08am
jason:

hey Annie! happy holidaze!
  9:20am
annie:

you too, jason. have to keep my volume down pretty low this am, but i'm enjoying the playlist.!
  9:29am
jason:

ok, i'll do my best to make the playlist entertaining even at low volume levels...but it's probably better at high volume
  9:31am
Chris from DC:

I can vouch for that.
  9:32am
annie:

yep, should really go up and get my headphones..
  9:34am
jason:

anybody out there listening with battery-powered mini speakers?
  9:40am
BSI:

just now joining the party, from home this time - via tinny little laptop speakers... but the ominous swarm of apocalypse-bees makes me want to jam this sucker into the stereo rig...
  9:57am
Balthasar:

happy Christmas Eve Eve .... the sheer volume of holiday goodies in our office might offset the show played at higher volume ... experiment begins NOW
  9:59am
annie:

omg, the sweets, treats, and candy.. made bourbon balls this week.. added extra bourbon just in case the flavor waned.
  10:03am
Nicholas:

jason, is there any chance you could play some RUSTED SHUT this morning? would really make my day.
  10:04am
jason:

hey Saint Nicholas, that sounds like a great idea!
  10:06am
holland oats:

elves in baltimore?
  10:08am
Mike East:

I lost my headphones on the bus yesterday :(
  10:11am
Cecile:

You know, I want to declare the winter holiday Beefmas now. Everyone paints abstract naturscapes, makes great music in a cult-like atmosphere, and plays gobs of Captain Beefheart.
  10:11am
Mike East:

The show sounds great on my WFMU listener provided computer speakers though!
  10:12am
holland oats:

i'm w cecile - happy beefmas evvybody!
  10:12am
Ike:

The Wire must have failed to cover the elvish community of Baltimore and how it's intertwined with the schools, newspapers, judges, drug dealers, etc.
  10:13am
Cecile:

YEAH
  10:14am
glenn:

bring back The Wire. and Deadwood, while you're at it.
  10:14am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Hells yeah!
  10:14am
Cecile:

Just play one. Circumsatances from Clear Spot.
  10:14am
annie:

merry beefmass!
  10:15am
Cecile:

Yeah, I'm going to tweet about Beefmas now.
  10:15am
Marmalade Kitty:

Merry Beefmas everybody x
..just trying to get the will to live back after listening to KennyG 3 Hour of Pain lastnight!!
  10:17am
annie:

omg, kitty, you actually listened? what did he do?
  10:18am
glenn:

let's just say there was a lot of talk of b.o.
  10:18am
Chris from DC:

I made it thorugh about 8 minutes of Kenny reading transcripts of the traffic reports on 1010 WINS
  10:18am
Cecile:

I loved every second of it. It was amazing. I miss him even though we have a stormy relationship.
  10:18am
Cecile:

He talked about gift cards and I was on the floor.
  10:19am
Cecile:

Jason, you know all my requests are well-thought out and appropriate and only springboards to your own personal greatness.
  10:20am
Ike:

Bring back the Wire, Glenn?!? It was completed. It ended as intended! How many great TV shows can you say that about? There's nothing to bring back. Now, Terriers on FX, there's a show to bring back. But nobody watched it. Great stuff.
  10:21am
still b/p:

Kenny also delivered a sackful of self-doubt and self-dismissal.
  10:21am
Cecile:

I wanted to, Ike. But it didn't work out for me. It sucks. Much like Sons of Anarchy which is inexplicably popular.
  10:22am
Marmalade Kitty:

A story of a happy party goer whose night ended in pain! Coat, passport, notepad and bike stolen after party. Sad party goer trying to reason with his loss..
  10:24am
glenn:

i know, i know. it was just awesomely great. and , on that topic, why oh why is two and a half men even on t.v. in the first place? or american idol? or, well, i don't even watch t.v., i just rent them when they're released on video.
  10:24am
Swami:

I'm down with Terriers! It's shaggy, and has nice noir touches and I wanna be Donal Logue when I grow up.
  10:24am
Cecile:

You are more than a woman and I am more than a man....
  10:26am
Cecile:

And the guy who does 2 1/2 men does the much more entertaining Big Bang Theory, so go figure.

I do like Modern Family.
  10:27am
Ike:

Really interesting article about that guy, Chuck Lorre, in the New Yorker recently. And yes Modern Family is surprisingly good.
  10:29am
Cecile:

Those notes after the Big Bang Theory he posts are often hysterical and suprisingly thought provoking.
  10:32am
Ike:

Yeah his lengthy rants on "vanity cards" posted at the end of 2.5 Men are 22.55 times better than the actual show.
  10:34am
Parq:

Merry Beefmas, everybody. I need a trout mask ornament for my tree.
  10:36am
Marmalade Kitty:

B.O treatments!! hahaha
  10:36am
annie:

i have a replica parq, if that'll do
  10:36am
Cecile:

Aesome, Parq!
  10:37am
still b/p:

In the few-decades-back machine: Some newly added channel -- "Hub" -- on my satellite shows old TV shows. A couple glimpses of Happy Days confirms again that it is ringingly dismal, awful, annoying.
  10:39am
BSI:

still b/p: true enough: those retro stations are all crap. Never any love for Bigfoot and Wildboy....
  10:41am
BSI:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NNb1pgQlQo
  10:41am
Cecile:

Well, it's one thing to re-run MTM and Bob Newhart and Barney Miller. It's another thing to re-run "who's the boss?"
  10:46am
Marmalade Kitty:

Whats all this T.V I've been missing out on??
  10:48am
annie:

cecile, did you see the very last newhart episode?
  10:52am
glenn:

which one? there were two bob newhart shows.
  10:53am
still b/p:

RIP Steve Landesberg.
  10:54am
Marmalade Kitty:

It's funny, I was just thinking, haven't seen Mork and Mindy for.. nearly 20 years
  10:54am
Parq:

Love this Nat remix. I'm always amazed that people put the time into things like this.
  10:55am
Parq:

And it's ECC! Wonder if any of them has ever had a grandparent say "From this you make a living?"
  10:56am
Jenniqua:

Love the Xmas mix-up. I know there is a version of O Tannebaum sung by Nat King Cole in German. Another holiday favorite of mine.
  10:58am
Cecile:

I wasn't a Newhart fan, but I did see that one. It was hilarious.
  11:01am
Todd 76%:

Great show, Jason...Love ECC. Found one of their earlier releases in Columbus OH in the late 90's. It included their Public Enemy Tijuana Brass mash-up and was on cassette stuffed inside a labeled-over Cat Stevens 8 track.
Hey, could you play some Minutemen or Reactionaries? D. Boon's gone 25 years ago today...
  11:03am
annie:

glenn, that's the point.. the very last episode of newhart, the last day at the vermont inn.. it was a riot! the last scene is a keeper.
  11:04am
glenn:

this might be of interest to you folks. http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/supreme-court-hear-music-makers-lawsuit-over-preview-20101223-073849-241.htm
  11:05am
Cecile:

Todd 76% - I remember that day all too vividly. I just couldn't believe it.
  11:07am
jason:

yes to minutemen Todd 76%! and Glenn thanks for that link
  11:12am
Parq:

<reads "their Public Enemy Tijuana Brass mash-up", does spit-take>
  11:18am
annie:

well, the christmas music got turned on so it's off with my radio.. .. bummer.
  11:19am
Arnold Schwarzenegger:

Don't you LIKE Christmas?
  11:20am
Ike:

Hey Parq, that was the first-ever mash-up as far as I know, and got a fair amt. of FMU airplay back in the day, so there's no way you've never heard it. You messing w/us?
  11:21am
Parq:

No, Ike, I just have a very poor memory for that sort of thing. Hope they take it easy on you at work today.
  11:31am
Ike:

Oh, work is a breeze today. I just have to chop the heads off 150 frozen geese on today's assembly line (then leave early). That's nothing.
  11:32am
Jason:

Frozen Geese? Merrily merrily...
  11:33am
Cecile:

Parq, it's like remembering names and faces. I can remember faces, but often have a hard time with names. S'cool.
  11:50am
still b/p:

I managed a genuine granola spit take and semi-choke chaser due to an exclamatory laugh of pure enjoyment at Crepuscule.
  11:57am
Cecile:

Thanks Jason!
  11:58am
holland oats:

beefmastime is here!!!
  11:59am
glenn:

how come cecile gets her captain beefheart request and i don't get my tony orlando and dawn request? there's an ism there somewhere.
  12:00pm
Cecile:

Fabulism. I'm more fabulous than you. :D
  12:00pm
Jason:

gelnn i'm sorry i have all this rusted shut and minutemen and ran out of time. i have no sense of time!
