  12:24am
fleep:

Crop O's sounds like a cosmic cereal with a hidden message
  12:24am
hinkydinky:

do they occur in smaller numbers or do they head to the southern hemisphere where crops are happening but since the southern hemisphere features less land cultivated in row crops, it seems that there's diminishment? And what is it aliens like about agricultural land in the first place?
  12:29am
coalhard:

wheat in the hell did you just say?--kidding!!!
  12:32am
D. Blumin:

Thx, man! I dedicate some Abracadabra, to you, McG!
  12:34am
hinkydinky:

May I cast a vote for "Didn't I" off of Rafferty's first (pre-Stealer's Wheel) solo album?
  12:35am
hinkydinky:

And maybe some Margaret Whiting?
  12:41am
Joe McG:

Is a Rosemary Clooney cover close enough?
  12:42am

  1:09am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe! Japanese 78s?? I'll need to check that out later! How ya doin'? Looks like we're going around the world tonight!
  1:11am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! Yeah, the show is ALL over the place, ha ha!
  1:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Are you playing something in tribute to Gerry Rafferty?
  1:14am
Joe McG:

How did you guess? Yes, right after Single File tonight. I'm looking forward to it! The only problem is that there are too many good songs to play.
  1:15am
Matt from Springfield:

True, but I'm looking forward as well--and to SF! Really miss Single File, I got a hankering for some now!
  1:17am
Joe McG:

Excellent! I hope you like this evening's totally random selections.
  1:18am
coalhard:

Joe--pulls the hat out of the rabbit every week--then pulls a good song out of that hat--then hugh hefner gets married wearing that hat--then bruce willis shoots the hat then...continued
  1:19am
Joe McG:

Coalhard, you rock. Hard, of course.
  1:21am
Mad Dog:

Waylate with this idea but wonder if the Chiemi Eri Clooney cover is the real source of Sparks' Kimono My House title. Any heads in the room?
  1:23am
Matt from Springfield:

Yeah, LOVIN Suspicious Minds! Go Aussies!
  1:24am
Joe McG:

Sounds possible to me, Mad Dog! Interesting thought!
  1:24am
Matt from Springfield:

I thought they were Kiwi till I just looked up to make sure--maybe because the name reminded me of the AXEMEN!
  1:27am
Joe McG:

The Axemen are amazing. Here's some more Aussie rock for you, Matt!
  1:29am
Matt from Springfield:

I give my seal of approval to Little Murders. Well done!
  1:33am
Matt from Springfield:

WOOOOOOOOO! SINGLE FILE!!!
Bring on, "Mott"!!!
  1:38am
Joe McG:

To shake down the apples.
  1:39am
fleep:

Mott the Applesauce?
  1:41am
Matt from Springfield:

"Psychotic Reaction"! Somewhere out there, Lester Bangs is giving a chuckle!
  1:41am
Joe McG:

This one's for Lester.
  1:43am
coalhard:

my greatest achievement--i was a hippie--i am one proud son a bitch
  1:45am
fleep:

There's still too much fidelity, even with laptop speakers. This stuff needs to be heard on a boxy little transistor radio, with AM hiss, near a beach.
  1:45am
Matt from Springfield:

Oh come on Coalhard, you haven't stopped being one! At least on the comments I judge you to be a hippie in good standing...
  1:46am
Joe McG:

You got the right idea, fleep!
  1:46am
fleep:

Or not standing well at all
  1:47am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: More sugar shock from Jerry & Jeff!
@fleep: I read that in the AM Top 40 days, they would actually pulse the transmitter so the mono records would sound bouncier on transistor radios.
  1:59am
Matt from Springfield:

Crackpots on Crackpot Records!! And, they had the courtesy, in the changing world of '91, to put this gem on vinyl!
  2:00am
John McCabe in L.A.:

Hi Joe
  2:00am
Joe McG:

Purple vinyl!
  2:00am
Joe McG:

Hey, John!
  2:03am
Matt from Springfield:

Sometimes you should post pictures of interesting 45s!
That would explain the purple color (Prince and purple roses).
  2:03am
coalhard:

are the byrds going extinct ----i hope not--just washed car
  2:10am
Joe McG:

You're right, Matt, I should really do that!
  2:11am
Matt from Springfield:

EARLY Gerry--thank you!
Billy Connolly is a well known Scottish comedian (to those who haven't heard of him) and was with Gerry in the Humblebums. But he said that he used to be the more somber member, while Gerry was the cheeky one! He could've rubbed some of that off on Billy!
  2:17am
Joe McG:

You bet, Matt!
  2:23am
Matt from Springfield:

Wonderful vocals--and excellent arrangements!
I recognize this from an earlier SN!
  2:28am
Joe McG:

I've probably played that one a few times, Matt, I quite like it!
  2:28am
coalhard:

just want to mention that SHIRLY TEMPLE is still alive--has nothing to do with show--but makes me happy
  2:32am
Sprout from Vancouver:

fantastic show, you've got me running from the couch to the computer almost every track to see what it is! at this rate I'll never get around to watching Black Narcissus tonight!
  2:34am
Joe McG:

Thanks, Sprout! Ooh, good viewing, too!
  2:40am
coalhard:

we must never let natalie portman get old---i throw up just thinking about it
  2:41am
Matt from Springfield:

@coalhard: Well don't you know that Celluloid Heroes never feel any pain, and that Celluloid Heroes never really die?
  2:46am
Matt from Springfield:

Robert Wilkins was a great bluesman, Joe. Those really early bluesmen like him and Mississippi John Hurt have an attractive guitar-picking style and that "loud whisper" singing that's different from later 12-bar blues, and quite enjoyable.
  2:50am
fleep:

coalhard: the newest Miss America is 17, natalie turns 30 this year. need a paper bag?
  2:51am
coalhard:

good night sarah palin--where ever you are
  2:56am
Matt from Springfield:

@coalhard: I'd like to this message to go out to her: "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!"
  2:58am
coalhard:

that woman is an idiot
  2:58am
Matt from Springfield:

Awesome show Joe! Have a great week everyone!
  2:59am
fleep:

Joe, great night/morning, esp. the Hideko Takamine segment, appreciate the tunez!
  2:59am
Sprout from Vancouver:

thanks for turning me on to Ernie Graham, that was gorgeous!
  4:03am
Brian in UK:

Look forward to listening on archive (lazy Sunday riser) Been humming Mary Skeffington in my head ever since I heard the news about GR. Keep it coming, Joe.
