Pat in Philadelphia:

Hi Scott! Love that Hipnosis track. Never heard it until your show. I've been trying to track down some info about it and though you attribute it to Grachan Moncur III I've only found it on the Jackie McLean album of the same name which Moncur plays on. So is the version you play from the McLean album or a different version Moncur recorded for a solo album? Love the show!
  9:31am
Scott:

No it's the same version - I just play it off the Moncur Mosaic box set so that's how I attribute it.
  9:32am
bennett4senate:

scott, that was Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors, not Pyramid song. ;) was feeling it... I feel like I've somehow grown into the weirdness of that track...
  9:35am
Scott:

Ah thank you! Corrected!
  9:38am
Pat in Philadelphia:

Thanks for the info, Scott!
  9:52am
Cecile:

How did you know, Scott?
  9:52am

Normally I'd take snow over cold, but you know, I'm sick of snow. It's cold but I won't have a 2 hour trip home tonight.
  10:00am

  10:09am

dc pat:

what do y'all think of this list of 10 "Greatest Composers" http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/23/arts/music/23composers.html?_r=1&hp

Mostly predictable but guy makes good points. Bartok got in there, Shostakovich shoulda..
  11:33am
The Internets:

(Phil: Squidco has the Taylor Ho Bynum disc)
  11:37am
Handsome Harry:

The NYTimes list didn't disappoint me like I thought it was going to disappoint me. I don't think Beethoven deserves the #2 spot, but what do I know. Overall it wasn't terrible.
  11:39am
jill:

scott-
is there a blog somewhere out there where i can pull this Takehisa Kosugi from?
  11:42am
dc pat:

I kind of agree w/ Bach being #1, you can't really knock him. Not sure about Beethoven either. I don't give a flying f--- about Brahms but I guess I should.

  11:49am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

o/c, don't ya know
  11:50am
Cecile:

I'm dozing off, I'm too relaxed by this music.

Personally, I really like Chopin myself. And, Brahms wrote some really gorgeous music.

I'll be back for Billy Jam. Later!
  11:51am
BDR:

Pere Ubu! Best. Band. Ever.

And still.
  11:51am
ironchef:

Ubu Roi!
  11:52am
